How to Use Xbox One / 360 Controllers on the Nintendo Switch

- Hi, this video shows you how to use your Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox 360 Controllers and a Xbox Arcade Stick on your Nintendo Switch. You need to purchase a Xbox to Wii U BROOK converter which are approx. £30.
This isn't supported by Nintendo so it may get patched on a later software update which means it may no longer work when you come to view this video which was filmed in June 2017.
Many thanks Vince Хобби
This is actually great, especially for those who have a Xbox and switch and don't want to spend 70$ for another controller
Cobalt Malone except the analog sticks are trash so you basically still have to buy a pro controller
Luis Ojeda The Pro Controller is basically a Xbox One controller with digital triggers and a better dpad
King Bradberry and with actual battery.
Also xbox copied nintendo first soo...
The Last Guy N64 controller and GameCube controller were nothing like the Xbox controller.
King Bradberry gamecubes controllers were the best

I don't have a switch
Dio Grando me too dio...me too...
I honestly want to tally the numbers of all the people who want but don't have a Switch. It'd probably be in the millions, which is good, since that means the Switch is already a success.
Dio Grando Ok no one gives a fuck most people came here because we have a switch if you dont have it then dont watch the video or stop your bitching
Dio Grando works with the Wii U too.

Yes! i can use an Xbox controller!!
GODDAMMIT WITH THESE ADAPTERS

AWW YES! GLAD YOU GOT AN ARCADE STICK, MATE! I was straight up hoping I could find a way to set up my Qanba Q4 Raf.
Cuz your profile pic is ryu from street fighter lol.
We have ascended to levels never perceived
pretty sick, I like how it even gets the player light correctly
Geeze thank you so much I really needed this because my friends did not have a spare controller to use
That wireless feature is cool.
the switch is slowly becoming second to only the PC in Controller choice.
Sure, this isn't intentional by nintendo, but it's still an advantage to the switch, and they'd be crazy to remove it.
RedGeoBlaze you can use an NES controller and even DK drums on this thing
yeah this is a really bad take lol
Happy that you are my mate Vince :-D Great video! :-)
this is a game changer. no pun intended
11:36 You are the only person on the entire internet who has clearly said what the buttons are when connected to a switch since it doesn't show on the f500 itself. Thank you so much for that!!!
Literally found this channel about two hours ago and have been watching your vids constantly. Very helpful videos that are straight to the point and actually work. The first one I watched was telling about things most don’t know about their Nintendo switch, and I didn’t know any of them!! Definitely earned a sub from me and I hope others will see how helpful your channel is @My Mate Vince. Watching from the states!
Very helpful. Good Job. 👏
My Mate VINCE, Great video your details is on point. I was allways curious if you can use various controllers for the nintendo switch. I grew up playing street fighter 2, Thats the only game i would play and buy if i had a Nintendo switch. Now im intreasted in getting a switch, Playing games like street fighter controller and configuration is the key. Thanks alot
This is an amazing discovery! Thank you Vince, you truly are My Mate.
It should work connected to any usb power source
Me: "Oh cool. I have a 360 controller, I have a Switch. wait . . . what's the catch?"
Video: "So just hook up your xbox to wii u adapter"
Me: "There it is."
to be honest I might get one just for this. it's pretty cool. Maybe I'll wait until they find a way to have analog sticks.
I think the reason why the Xbone controller doesn't work when you disconnect the cable is because it transmits data wirelessly even when it's plugged in. it just knows to transmit to what it's plugged into. but when you undock the switch, the controller isn't told that it's been disconnected. so it keeps doing what it's doing.
thanks this video really helped me
THANK YOU SO MUCH I LOVE YOU FOR THIS
The dislikes came from PlayStation gamers
#gamecube
@@evileye515 LMAO PC WHAT A LOSER!!!!! BOARD GAMES ARE SUPERIOR!! #MONOPOLYMASTERRACE
i agree
you can do this with the ps4 dumbass
#chessboardMasterrace
You should run a test with the adapter just pluged into the AC directly, that would prove weather it's the dock or the adapter using wireless.
Good call. I plugged the Brook converter straight into a USB charger and it all worked so it is the adapter that is working wirelessly to the Switch NOT the dock to the switch. Thanks for the idea :-)
now plug it to a powerbank so you can play "wirelessly"
just saved me $100. You need to add AD's bro you deserve it.
I love the xbox 360 contoller. By far the most comfortable controller ever played. Only followed by the n64.
becuse the dock and the swich have same blood
The dock has no Wi-Fi or any wireless radio. I think the adaptor is wireless though.
Maybe you can open the controller and *switch* up the buttons to work for you

This is because the switch dock is generating power to the converter and because it was in tv mode a few seconds before it synced up with the switch and all it needs is power.
wait so your saying that you dont need a dock and you can just plug it into a box
Yes now I can finally play Mario tennis with a steering wheel
I hope that Nintendo wants to keep Switch being cool and won't patch this...
YOU HEAR ME NINTENDO? Otherwise I will return my non-existent Switch to ya!
Krzysztof Lewandowski they made that intentionally
Hell, mine is going back to gamestop.
Im multi-platform. I usually adapt to the controler by the way it feels in my hand. like when i hold an xbox controler, i know the button layout is ABYX instead of BAXY. So that would drive me nuts
I'd just like a controller for switch with layout the same as xbox
This is amazing, my switch controlers always disconnect (usually the right one) when in tv/desk mode which is extremely annoying. And id rather not spend 80$ every 3 months for a new pair of controllers when I could use a reliable one I have had for 6 years.
Thank you!
That's awesome, all I need now its a switch 😃😎
now you gotta mod it to switch the A&B and the X&Y cause xbox sure did a good job at ruining the snes layout.
Jop V. Microsoft still ruined it for using SEGAS layout
ELITE CONTROLLER CUSTOM LAYOUT???
i subed becuse i really needed this
my red joy-con us acting weird then i look it broken
thanks for this
Interesting idea, but honestly at that price I think I would just stump up the extra for a proper controller what with the stick issue.
not bad though if you already own an xbox with controllers.
The update is made to work with the Pokken Pro Controller that has no analog.
People can use GameCube and Xbox controllers on Switch?! That is awesome! They should try others like Wii Remotes, PS4 Controllers, and more!
Hooray for button mapping
*In Dr. Eggman voice*
Oh-HO!
can you connect a wiiu pro controller?
Nope.
You can, it just took alot of dongles to work
HOW!!
Basically, there's a tutorial on how to use the Wii U pro controller on the 360 by using the CronusMax, so by that logic we can just plug the CronusMax to the Brook super converter and it will work
Jonathan Odude you can use GameCube controllers. The latest update made them and the adapter compatible with the Switch!
it works because you need the control plugged into the converter. I think the converter you have tells the control to communicate with the console. It really isnt a matter of transmitting data from the dock or anything, i just think your converter uses the usb simply for button info and power. thry could honestly make a wireless one that plugs into the back of the xbox control that does the same.
Yes, you are correct. I have since found out from other viewers that the adapter doesn't actually need to be plugged into the Switch to work, it can work from any USB charger so it is definitely the adapter doing the communication with the Switch and not the Dock (which is a shame).
with the console dock communicating with the switch part, I think that adapter maybe just gets power from the usb port and transmits data wirelessly? try plugging the adapter into something else for power and use it again, or maybe there is a better explanation idk
1:18 I got ASMR from this. O.o
That was my first time experiencing ASMR.
I fell asleep watching his videos which is good, I am getting educated while I sleep XD
I read that as ARMS for a second lol
I've never experienced ASMR... I've heard some people don't
what is ASMR?
The Appleflaps
Does this work with Wii U Pro Controllers?
It's now 2022 and Nintendo released to change the button mapping on the controllers, so you can map A to be B, B to be A, X to be Y and Y to be X
THANKYOU SO MUCH
Vince,my guess is kinda vague but i hope i am right. What i think that happens is that USB adapter that you bought online makes its own bluetooth network that communicates with the actual console like a genuine Pro Controller or JoyCons, for example. Now the reason it does not work unpluged is because it has to be wired to actually translate the xbox inputs to nintendo inputs, and then ship them to the console.I may be wrong, but this is the most plausable theory i can think of
Hi, I think you might be spot on with that, that does seem very likely and I have since tried it via a USB phone charger and it still works so it definitely does not need to be plugged into the Switch. I presume it is better to have it plugged into the Switch because there would be less input lag purely due to distance. Thanks for the info :-)
My Mate VINCE no problem mate, love ur vids:)
Thanks so much :-)
Vince does it work with a PS3 or PS4 controller to?
My Mate VINCE I meant ps1 and 2
bout to go wreck some noobs on fortnite
Thank you good sir
If you actually got it, how does it work? Did it fix the bug where when you move the joystick slightly it acts as if it’s pressed all the way?
exactly
Good luck aiming without analog.
Adam H ppp
Good luck. Fortnite works terribly on the switch.
It's happening by magic💖by our heartsZ!! Woah I just got high!
Wow help full
have a switch but no pro controller... have an xbox?
boom now you have pro controller
Happy 4th of July everybody!
Trey Cady Happy Fourth of July!
If you're playing a fighting game, I can already see there being issues using an xbox on controller. I tried doing something similar on my PS3 with a 360 controller. The adapter actually causes lag that's pretty much only noticeable in a fighting game. Try Street Fighter 2 on it and tell us how it is.
I think the switch treats all controllers like wireless controllers and the USB port is simply providing power to the controllers to maintain a signal. The adaptor is simply interpreting the signal from xinput to the wiiu controllers.
so you don’t need an adaptor?
*thx dude! Duper Awesome!!!*
Wii U at a time still has digital stick, which is why gamers dislike Wii U and it is major disadvantage. The converter respect this limitation for that.
Maybe over a software update of that adapter from their website might fix it. Or maybe need new hardware like *XBOX 360/XBOX ONE/Playstation > Nintendo Switch.* We'll see.
The Wii U controller's sticks are not digital sticks, they are analog sticks.
Joel Robert Justiawan I think you mean the triggers.
wow thank u
Maybe the adapter is converting the signal from the controller(so its broadcasting some kind if signal) to be like the pros signal
In other videos you showed that the brook converter was communicating wirelessly with the console
Someone should try the Xbox 360 controller with ARMS, i really hope it could works :O
Gekigemu you have to use joy cons for arms
Why? I always play it with standard controller and is the best option for me, much more responsive in Ranked mode :O
O Lapisman O you can use anything to play arms... you can go single joy con or pro control or joy con grip or motion controls
Really I never tried using the pro controller for arm I just always used my joy cons so I thought that was the only way to play, sorry for the confusion
The controllers were always shown as a loading screen when you start the game.
Is it possible to use a wii u pro controller on switch?
If you own a fitting adapter yes
As long as the support for WiiU controller is there, that it is ,and continues to be, that will probably be the case for obvious reasons, this will continue to work, imo
That's nice, but I would also like to know how to use a GC controller like pdp or hori on xbox, I bought it for Smash, but found myself surprisingly comfortable playing shooter games like Fortnite and Overwatch on the swith,
This would be a pretty nice alternative for a pro or pro controllers
One word "WOW!"
Fonzy Lycanroc anime meme woe
Cool. My 360 died and now I have a reason to keep the my 4 controllers.
YESSSS FINALLY I CAN SHOOT ON SWITCH AND PLAY FN GOOD TY BROO
Honestly, I kinda hope they don't patch it. I prefer the Switch Pro Controller to the Xbone controller (I have both, and they're both really good). The Switch Pro Controller is LITERALLY one "'DirectInput' to "XInput'" program away from being a Nintendo-Xbox Controller for PC anyways. And HELL!
Maybe Microsoft would even make it possible to play the Xbone USING a Switch Pro Controller.
Now THAT'S CrossPlatform if I've ever seen it. (*BA. DOOM. Tsk.*)
Wait, so will a WiiU controller connect to the switch and work normally?
In competitive pokken we use wired pro controllers. we remove the battery and use a wire from the controller to the wii u. however i would like someone to test it out with a wired connection before we all go out and buy an adapter that have chances to not work. however i dont see a problem because its the same connect as the xbox
Thanks
I don't wanna buy another Pro controller for 3 player coop. This solved many issues for me. Thank you!
The Aki War No, did you watch the video, the analog stick is digital for some reason when using it which makes it useless for anything other than 2d fighters, I'm sorry it won't work for any other games.
$40 might as well go towards another pro controller
The only thing this might be useful for is the fightstick, but pretty much useless otehrwise
kid10j the nyko control for the switch isn't too bad also 8bitdo controls are cool
except that the pro controllers cost 100$...
So.. no.
pro controller cost 70
kid10j Well if you own an Xbox controller. You don't have to buy a pro controller. Since they're practically the same.
Dawson Granger But you can't play splatoon, or arms, or any game requiring detailed movement because of the digital control sticks.
Has anyone tried to plug a Wii u pro controller?
Meh I'm invisible doesn't work because the cable is just for charging
I realized when I tried to do it, I did hear somewhere that backwards compatibility with the wii/wii u controllers may be added in a future update so I hope that is soon
Meh I'm invisible Where did you hear that? I would love if this was true.
hold up let me find it
Meh I'm invisible did you find it?
If they do some sort of Smash game on the Switch, the digital stick thing might be really helpful. My thumbs get tired moving they analog sticks around so much. Lmao.
Hope this helps, considering the fact that only the Xbox One controller is wirelessly supported by Nintendo as a separate controller.
I Tried with a wired cable without the Xbox to Wii U cable and it didn't work
Matthew
So, you can used Xbox One controllers and put it in on Nintendo Switch? That's very outstanding. whats next. PS4 controller? Because Nintendo Switch has a Blue tooth feature.
sonicgalaxy27 But the analog stick is digital which makes it useless for anything other than 2d fighters. It's basically a fight stick and nothing else.
Can I use the receiver I use to my PC so I can play games on pc with my Xbox one controller can I use that and plug that in to the adapter? If I can I can use the controller remotely and play games from my bed.
Do you know if it's possible to use multiple controllers at once by plugging a powered USB hub into the adapter?
Here is new patch file, please try .

Hi, thanks for the links. I am thinking you might be the inventor or work for Brook so I was wondering if you know if it is possible to get the Analogue sticks working as analogue rather than digital. Is this something that could be possible with an update in the future? Great work by the way :-)
My Mate VINCE
this version already lets two sticks to work in analogy mode. www.brookaccessory.com/detail/94841368/
Huang Tim Is it's true that they can work as analogue now, it should be pinned.
Yes, it is true...
Hi, I am using the V13 update and I can't get the analogue sticks to work as analogue. Both sticks do work but only as a DPad. This is happening on the Xbox version and the PlayStation version. Any ideas?
Thanks.
3rd
U can do this with ps4 contollers too but it's a bit more complicated I think
Finna try this w my Xbox 360 guitar controller
ive never gotta a like on a comment
abhinav ippagunta and you never will
well I just did
abhinav ippagunta 32122
abhinav ippagunta i gave you a like
Well grammar is so fun grinh
Xbox switch
Lmao true now
VINCE! how well does it work in breath of the wild?
Cool
why would you want to use inferior controllers?
I think it is more if you wanted to use something like a fight (arcade ) stick that you already had.
ah yes the fightstick i can see why you would want to use
Artorias Of The Abyss first of all the One controller is better than the switch controller, and second WHY NOT IF U HAVE THEM?
And the good thing is when you get the switch, you'll only have 2 controllers. So why not use controllers that you have to play with more friends?
Well I already have a bunch of ps4 controllers and the switch pro controllers cost 100 dollars.
no
I have a feeling that the tech that they used In the adapter may have been unintentionally wireless somehow, and it just needs power as there is no battery in the adapter
I always thought that the dock was powered only by the switch, yeah the cable does actually power it but I never new it worked without the switch
could I have a nintendo switch because I do not have enough money for it.
no
get a job. or parents that love you
Infinite Strife stop living in a basement

Omar Beydoun Wow. Just Wow. Trying to judge people based on a stereotypical fact...
En, what do you think of this one COOV N100 in 3ds-flashcard site? Much cheaper and also easy to use.
That's really cool but I think at $40 (USD) for the Brook adapter I'd probably just get an actual Pro controller. Already too many adapters and dongles and pieces to the Switch to worry about, don't need another one lol.
If you have played Snes games with PS2 controller on emulators, you can handle the inverted button layout like a piece of cake. You aren't suppose to look at the buttons when playing. You could be killed or lose the race doing this!
That will help me beat splatoon 2!
Brook adapter is work wirelessly to the switch so you don’t have to plug the adapter to the dock.
Does it work with xbox 360 wired sync button?
Great vid btw
this is cool because I think the 360 controller is the best ever made . but I do miss the N 64 Controller
