    Torx bits have helped me so many times with set screw removal. But, if you cant get it with a Torx bit oh man, you know your in for a fight. A flat bottom is a grub screw and a pointed bottom is a set screw, they basically do the same job but there are specific uses for each. I have also had to solder an old allen in a couple of grub screws before but that was a couple of extremely bad cases. You can also use a bit of soft solder or lead to basically press fit your allen in the grub/set screw. If all those fail it is time for heat. Take care.

      I like the solder trick too. I do that by getting the wrench hot and melt the solder and let cool in the hole. This video was just for cold tricks.

    Wow!!!! Great tips. I had bathroom tap set with loose hex sockets making it impossible to remove the set screws. Then I saw your post and the lapping compound did the trick. Thanks for posting this great video.

    Thanks for sharing your expertise. Back in my day many tradespeople were reluctant to share the knowledge that the had aquired over the years. Often times, as I'm sure you know, that knowlege came the hard way, not by typing in a search bar like we're able to do today. Once again, THANK YOU.

    Thank you for this information rich presentation. I just fixed my 15 y.o. leaking faucet DELTA handle. Reason being, that we're replacing the counters and the sink in January. Stripped set screw. One question: where did you get your sturdy T-handles (beautiful welds & grinding) , especially the ones with the socket ends where you insert various tips including torx. It's slim pickings here in the middle of the Pacific Ocean...

      The T handle Allen wrenches are from hardware store. The welded ones are off a tool truck. SK tools makes some very nice ones.
      Glad this helps.

    A set screw on my kitchen tap keep coming out..tried to replace it but can't find one the same size. I can screw it in but it keep coming out..what can I do to fix it. it only a tiny screw

    • @MakingStuffUp1
      @MakingStuffUp1  3 года назад

      Some times you can drill out the hole to a larger size and tap it for new larger set screws. But it depends on the type and thickness of the metal. Take the part with you to a local hardware store or plumber. They will know how best to deal with it. They will know if its worth saving.
