Real gigachads know the real answer to this question is Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. It is pretty obvious that Wilds is bringing back the 4U main characters. Story wise MH4U will introduce you to the characters that will likely be appearing in wilds, giving you more of a connection to them. Gameplay wise I would say MHWorld is the best choice. Monster hunter world might seem like the logical choice, but has a major issue which is the clutch claw, which is a frustrating mechanic that thankfully is gone wilds. Also, way more customisation for your palico/palamute. It will introduce you to your mount companion and will generally respect your time more.
I sincerely doubt that Wilds will be as clunky and outmoded as Worlds though. MHW is like something from the late 90s design-wise, despite being released in 2018. Animation lock is literally an intended feature, like they completely missed the memo saying that 99% of gamers hate it. I just came off a 500+ hour MHW stint and as much as I like certain aspects of it, there's way too much obnoxious junk weighing it down. I'm really hoping Wilds is more up to date in terms of its combat.
I bought world back in 2019 and only played it like 2 hours. Courtesy of ark, no mans sky, anthem, borderlands 3 etc etc. That and it was so complicated. Been watching oceanix videos. He does like a wildlife documentary. They're amazing! For rise and world. Thinking of getting rise and picking world back up. I just hope wilds has more monsters than both and a great variety of weapons as well.
It seems Capcom is keeping the style of Wilds true to MHW:IB, but also lowkey weaving in wirebugs mechanics in the demo (where hunter uses slinger to pull himself towards the monster after performing the focus, tackle style). Kudos to Capcom for the innovation and can't wait to see demos of other weapons in action.
I think the dealbreaker is Co-Op and Multiplayer experience in general. It's very likely you'd be among someone who plays Monster Hunter if they are watching this video, and Rise is just the better multiplayer experience overall. You can move around the village together, not have your experience broken up by story cutscenes and missions, and most importantly everyone can be on the same starting line. Like yeah, your friends with their decked out Amatsu gear would definitely trash your Low Rank beasties, but you aren't missing out on their movement capabilities. You can follow them easily thanks to less cluttered maps, you already have a Palamute instead of needing to unlock a Tailraider through a series of side quests, and the Wirebug is always there to help keep up. It really sucked for my friend when he couldn't reach the Legiana nest of the Coral Highlands as fast as me because he didn't have a Tailraider nor knew all the Hook Beetle spots. It was just easy for that same friend to hop into a MHRise game with me and get started without feeling gated by not knowing or doing something in their own time. Late-game doesn't matter if they can't get through the slog that is 2/3 of the player experience.
I loved World, so don't get me wrong, but that was exactly my biggest gripe with the game. I basically only play it coop with 3 of my closest friends and World constantly made it annoying to play with them.
Really hope something can be done about unskippable cutscenes. They're nice for the first time, but the option to skip should be there, especially if it's a new save.
My friend and I tried to get a mutual friend to start Monster Hunter with World. It didn't go well. The starting cutscenes, the opening quests starting you on Zorah Magnaros's back, and the follow up jog to camp, made it feel like tutorial simulator to him. Then when he finally got to camp, and finally got to play with us, he found out that we could only meet up in camp in the multiplayer lobby, and he had to be the one to pick all the missions and such when he wanted us to lead while teaching him. And after all that; for the first available fight to not be any big monsters, he gave up, left a negative review, and is hesitant about playing any future MH games. I was going to see if I could salvage it with Rise since it didn't have any of that mess, but too many things got in the way: buying the game, having space and specs to play it on his computer, him having the time to play anymore, and me being the only person in our friend group to give Rise a chance.
I love the gameplay of mhworld, I just hate the guiding lands. If I didn't need the materials from it, it would be my favorite game. As is, mh4u is still the best
Both should be played tbh U can learn basic from mh easier in rise sunbreak+ meet some of the best wyvern and elder dragon But mh iceborn what wild will be so i'd say both
If you want to pause the game, rise. Lol seriously though, what most of the comments are saying. World for a very immersive experience, and rise for more of a boss rush style, with a very expansive combat systems and combinations.
Haven't played Rise yet (downloading it now), but MHW is so woefully outdated design-wise it's scary to think it actually only came out in 2018. It's like something from the late 90s or early 2000s. Face-melting amounts of animation lock, half the i-frames on dodge rolls as Souls games, several obnoxious forms of boss cc that they routinely spam as get-out-of-jail-freed cards throughout combat, poorly designed spastic bosses who spam the same area-of-denial attacks constantly or simply launch themselves like a missile, garbage rabbit-hole style menu navigation, over reliance on consumable items, shitty itemization, prohibitive multiplayer functionality, useless Palico AI, meaningless grind... The list goes on and on. And that's not to mention the F-ing clutch claw and how it completely disrupts the flow of combat in almost every fight.
@@sandwichninja lol rise was made for switch. I’m a hammer main. Clutch claw is fluid and flawless. Graphics wise world was ahead of its time. And they’re on par with Elden ring. Only part of world I didn’t enjoy was the camera game. Played it this morning…
@@oldmangamer7161 I'm not complaining about MHW's graphics. It's the outmoded design choices that suck. That being said, I also like the hammer and enjoyed using it in World.
i completed the main story of world but i feel its hard to play single player due to the game being to clunky and its hard to roll away from the monster...a lot of my game play was getting hit all the time and it made the hunts ...rise was more better to evade attacks so i hope wilds is gonna be good
yeah evasion in MH just isn't quite like other RPGs (souls especially has much more i-frames), have you tried running evade window skill and/or the evasion mantle? makes attacks a lot easier to dodge!
After playing both rise and world...in my opinion rise is far superior. You don't have annoying tracking mechanics, each weapon has more moves, movement with wirebug is like in every way superior to clutchclaw. Mounting on rise is fun, the cutscenes are not forcing you to watch them and play them single player. It has mounts, better monster variety and lots of quality of lifes that world dont have... gathering spirit birds might be the worse thing about rise but ye world has no chance to rise except graphics. Plus the endgame of world is boring as heck and i hate both alatreon and fatalis...both awful fights compared to rise endgame monsters
Rise definitely has a better overall endgame monster pool, I'd love to see that sort of system come back! Rise/Sunbreak improved on a lot of World/Iceborne features, I made a separate video on stuff from Rise that should come back in Wilds. However, Worldborne is going to *play* much closer to how Wilds will feel, so that's why I ultimately recommend that, if you *have* to choose, Worldborne will prep you better for playing Wilds overall :D
The monster ai is better in rise but that's it, if u pay attention to most ur endgame monsters in rise they just took the same idea from Alatreon and slapped it on them, with a varying different dps checks.
I bought both for £8 each. Bailed on Rise after 4 hours and am about 20 in to World. For me it was the easier game to get to grips with. I’ll go back to Rise again after World though.
You didn't mention Spiribirds in Rise. A lot of people (including myself) don't like that either. And they along with the map design pathing actually do encourage using the Palamute, as it's just way slower if you don't. Rise is just built strangely compared to both World and the older games in that it has a bunch of explorable vertical areas where monsters can't get to and then a bunch of flat paths where you fight the monsters. You also didn't mention Wyvern Riding which is also a controversial mechanic in Rise. And you stayed away from Rampages which the devs effectively conceded was a bad or at least badly implemented idea given how they totally scrapped it in Sunbreak.
yeah i never used spiribirds, wyvern riding was just mounting but different, and rampages were so bad xD i was trying to make like to like comparisons as much as I could, spiribirds and rampages don't really have a direct comparison in world (maybe rampages vs siege quests, but that's a stretch). Still sounds like you agree with me tho, that world is the better option
it actually isn't faster by palamute. Rise is build with open verticality in mind, drop the dog and practice swinging more. you'll find out that aside from Sub-camps Rise also provides a meriad of great wirebugs both on ground and in air which can often be chained togheter and always land (even intermittened) nearby larger clusters of spiribugs than you would by just riding your dog.
game mechanics won't translate over as well, there's a ton of carry over from Worldborne into Wilds. The themes/characters are from 4U, but the game will play extremely similarly to World (with new mechanics, ofc)
this rathian hunt in background is why I don't like Rise, we miss so much of what make MH a great franchise. Just spamming one move or two, kind of boring
not entirely wrong, but the set I made was specifically made JUST to spam that silkbind. There's way more playstyles available in Rise than in World, and that run was just a showcase of one of them!
Wait what are you talking about? It was WAY more "spamming 1-2 moves" in the older games. Especially before MHGen/GenU, GS- literally just hold 1 button, Hammer is either 3-hits golf swing or charged slam, DB just spam demon dance and spinning slash, SnS is just the sword slash combo with some occasional shield bashes, switch axe just only morph to sword mode to do 2 slashes then dodge, Lance/GL literally just 2 types of poke,.... LS and CB are probably the only two had more dynamic in combat, when CB wasn't a SAED spammer and LS was more about spirit bar management not a counter spammer, but still in Rise you have 3 different kinds of counters can use differently after each other and can change your playstyle completely depend on the moves you select.
@@michaeldeleon8970 exactly bro, if you wanted to be the most efficient on ur weapon, it was almost always using a counter into an heavy wirebug attack. Come on I am sure you can beat Rise without Rolling if u use LS + weapons lost their identities
I know u didnt just call those siege events fun. I have over 500 hours in mhw, spread across 3 characters. All 3 characters stopped at the siege events. I never fought fatallis. Mhw made me feel robbed from the endgame...
everyone enjoys different things, I liked the sense of community and trying to become as efficient as possible. we don't all have to play for the same reasons! You also don't have to fight safi or KT to beat fatalis
For some reason people operate under the assumption you need to do Safi or Kulve to fight Fatalis. You don't. You don't even need ANY Safi or Kulve weapons and armor. Actually I would argue that Safi armor is actually too risky to use in that fight. There are much better options anyway. In terms of Kulve there is the event quest to fight her, you don't have to do the siege. So you can still get her armor (especially the MR Kulve legs they are very good) without ever stepping foot in the siege. Not only that but you can use unwanted Kulve parts at the melder to create Kulve weapons. If anything using a Raging Brachy weapon. With a Raging Brachy mix set to get agitator secret is much better against Fatalis than any of the Siege stuff. The only thing that you could argue Siege weapons being optimal is with specifically elemental weapons. Like Dual blades and Bow. Other than that it's Raging Brachy all the way. Heck on my 1st Fatalis kill I was using the Alatreon SnS. I liked it because of it's huge purple sharpness and dragon is basically the only element Fatalis is somewhat weak to. You absolutely do not need to do the siege fights if you don't want to.
@@chewbacachunks8644 tons of disingenuous peeps when it comes to world, saw some people online exclaiming that world is the only game with rotating events (god forbid they discover that it existed in MH games since its inception) and how world introduced siege monsters, how hateful can one be to spread misinfo like these.

Both.
Why not MH4U?
game mechanics won't translate over as well, there's a ton of carry over from Worldborne into Wilds.

Anyone wanna buy me both games? Im poor as hell rn
I’m gonna just say first
