Well this flight ended up being my worst flight of 2022. I'd gone in expecting it to be the highlight of my trip to India - but, thanks to airport security and a filthy aircraft, it ended up being anything but.

The saying "expect the unexpected" is under stated. Your day started off rough, however checking into that beautiful hotel was making things look up. That town was really picturesque. Another hidden gem you uncovered. Great way to end 2022 and the best is yet to come. Happy New Year to you and your family.

I used to fly out of Bengaluru fairly often and did a domestic flight or two. The best security was the sniper standing over the ticket counters and the machine gun nest at the airport entrance. Made me feel very safe.

You didn't sound out of line at all, you were extremely polite! Also I've been using safety razors since 2016 and I'm so glad I switched over! The blades are so much cheaper, especially if you order online. The only catch is not being able to carry the blades on airplanes. I'm also looking forward to checking out Kullu in Microsoft Flight Simulator.

We lived in India, Pakistan, Sweden, Manila, Amman, Tel Aviv, Bridgetown, Bucharest, Sarajevo, Montreal, Damascus, Mauritania and Montenegro during our 35 years as Foreign Service personnel. Out of all of those airports, Tel Aviv was the most difficult. Of course, their security is always over the top as it should be but that just means it's really hard to get in or out of the country. As an Indian American, I agree with the fact that Indian airport security screening is not a pleasant experience, these security officers are uneducated and often abuse their powers thinking they know all the rules and laws. The worst experience I have had was at Amritsar (ATQ) airport, where the security were really rude and made me empty my entire bag just because I didn’t take out my chargers. This is ridiculous.

@@ac9110 There are different kinds of insurance. Third party insurance covers anyone injured by the actions of the driver. This is compulsory almost everywhere. You can also buy third party insurance that pays for damage you cause in an accident in which you are at fault. Then you can buy insurance to cover damage to your own car. People with limited funds often pay for only the compulsory kind. Checking these requirements for India I found: "In India, as per the Motor Vehicles Act, it is mandatory that all vehicles that operate in any public space must have a motor vehicle insurance cover. Policyholders must have at least 'third party liability' motor insurance cover even when opting for the basic insurance plans." So that's what is mandatory. It doesn't cover dents.

I flew with Alliance Air from BOM to GOI on an ATR72 back in February and it was a scary stuff but not as scary as my experience with Go Air flying from BOM to GOI in September. Their A320 sounded like it was running Diesel engines, a very unpleasant 60 minutes.

Seriously - a dirty window and Delhi made you empty your bag? Get a grip Noel. Seriously disappointed in you - you’ve made a whole video based on this!

In the states...there used to be slots in the medicine cabinets that you could slide your old blades in. Recycling I guess in early stages

Besides the dirty window and slight boarding pass inconvenience, nothing really seemed to go wrong because of the airline. Perhaps a better tittle would be “My horrible airport security experience”. Seems dramatic to attack the airline for something they have no control over. Just my two cents though.

The flight includes the whole experience, from checkin to landing. While the airline doesn't have direct control over ground personell, they definitely have a say in the matter when it comes to politeness. A roughly operating airport makes the whole experience a bad one, and that reflects on the airline, whether that's called for or not. Besides, you can't dictate how someone feels about their flight, can you.

No problems with you justifiably being a tad annoyed Noel! The thing is that you gave a master class on keeping a lid on it and not taking it out on others! 👍

Kulu is well known as the home of Nicholas Roerich, the artist, teacher, philosopher and explorer. He launched several Himalayan expeditions from there. If in NYC, go to the Roerich Museum and you will find out more about him and Kulu. and an amazing area for beautiful vegetation. Actually a special place to visit.
