Me acuerdo cuando vole con Lab desde Cuzco Peru a Cochabamba Bolivia en el verano del 84 con L.A.B via La Paz cordialidad eficiencia y puntualidad boliviana al 100%.
MrProphet100...you and I are in an elite group. Those that have experienced the sheer heaven that is known as a 727 singing to your soul. Thanks for posting. Paul in KCRP
Commercial aviation’s equivalent of Tina Tuner. Stunningly beautiful yet unstoppable, with boundless energy, impossible to ignore presence, fierce yet accessible, in charge and in control. And when she’s giving her all - the music is just as hypnotic, erotic, and soul-torching. Like Ms Turner herself, this beatific Boeing is simply. the. best.
This brings back so many memories when I was based at La Guardia we flew nothing but 727's on trips out of that base. They are missed truly they were easy to work and the crews made it even more fun to be on there. As time passed on now the MD-80 series are leaving the fleet, now I stick to the 737 & 757 at LAX.
My last Lloyd flight ever was precisely on CP-861 enroute VVI-LPB, within about ten minutes we were on cruise, and If I do remember quite well Cap. R. Lobo was on command. Funny thing that after the onborard service, stewards would sit in the back of the plane to read newspapers about the enterprise's situation of entrophy.
my uncle used to work for LAB in chochabamba before he married my aunt and moved to Brazil.... LAB later went bankrupt... my uncle passed away 8 years after the bankruptcy
Seems like there was constant left roll being applied. Wonder what up with that? Do old jetliners get slightly put of alignment or was it just weather?
I wonder where they landed? Was it a high-altitude airport? Those engines were screaming all the way to touch down. The air must have been pretty thin to require such a high power setting during the approach.
They landed at SLLP, the highest airport in America (if not the world). LAB pilots were extremely skilled to operate the venerable 727 in such conditions. To their credit, they had an enviable safety record for operations with the 727.
Wow, LAB has been defuct for 15 years or more. That was an old 727-100, back when La Paz airport was called John. F. Kennedy. Hard to breathe near 2 1/2 miles high, for non natives.
It would be a great day to spend a few hours near the rear engine of a 727-100. I remember as a child.....MMMMM....sweet memories.
Excellent! Love the symphony of the JT8-D's! Check out the hydraulic pump groaning on gear retraction! I miss the 727s!
I miss this good times, when airplaines sound like airplaines !!!

I would love to see LAB return to the skies some day.
Very nice! A -100 beauty.
Wow! What a beautiful video! It's great to see and listen to the 727 =D
It almost sounded like he had full power landing in La Paz!
Incredible.

Yup and it is like a stewardess on board a LAB flight said to me, everybody is in first class on LLOYD !
my uncle used to work for LAB in chochabamba before he married my aunt and moved to Brazil.... LAB later went bankrupt... my uncle passed away 8 years after the bankruptcy
Nice, those 727 wings are so complex
Que buen video hermano! saludos de El Salvador!
Very Interesting
sweeeet sound!
That one is the CP 861, no 727 has flown so many hours for the same airline!
Volé en un 727-100 de Faucett Perú desde Tacna-Lima
Truly fantastic!

The little push on the throttle. Slows the sink rate.
LUCKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The plane takes a LONG time to stop on landing. It has to be really La Paz-El Alto and its 4000+ meter (13,000+ ft) altitude and thin air...
It is taking off from Jorge Wilstermann Airport in Cochabamb and, yes, it is El Alto International Airport.
Classico
Great video. I didn't know the engines had to be revved up that far to approach!
Hey hoor Nederlands. Mooie video

Conheço o Urucu

Is the 727 still in service with LAB?
You're welcome
Compare the wing to 787’s
Long roll
El 727-100 me gusta mas que el -200 no se porque.

Thick air also requires high power setting to fight strong drag. The engines are also pretty old and fuel consuming.
Pena que faliu uma boa empresa com tarifas em conta

Ahora, en el presente esta histórica aeronave se encuentra como chatarra, el CP-861 no merecía eso.
