Thank you for uploading this! I used to play this game a lot when i was child, i also had an epileptic seizure from this game and i never was able to see the end!
i was the only one in my city who beat this game to the end as well, and when i saw this video and music of the end got tears in my eyes. Thanks a lot for this
Alexis, was the name that the sellers of pirate cassettes sold on newsstands in Italy had changed, complete with a magazine, in fact this is the newsstand title of the original zanac
This owned my mind and free time among the old games. I would have died in 5 minutes of not dying. The constant barrage is too much for me to take. I got up to about 22 minutes till the game ended since it was a demo.
Its running on emulator and I see many times when two sprites are on same place, it is not displayed correctly. When I said the word Sprite, true MSX person make use of this word and no one else uses this word "Sprite'!
another grand play by The Keeper Of The Sword! quite different from the NES/FamiCom version, this one. maybe because I grew up on that version and was never able to even be aware there actually was a version for other systems. still looks OK, but I personally prefer the faster pace of the NES/FamiCom one... but that's just me; this one's fine on its own merits.
This is the original version. NES version was released later with "upgrades"(Actually a whole new redesign). Then the NES version was ported back to the MSX (now MSX 2) as Zanac EX with a few new upgrades (Just a few this time :) )
@@rafaellima83 Apparently both the MSX and Famicom Disk games were released at the same time and later on Zanac EX on MSX2 was made, based on the Famicom Disk game. Also I always thought that Aleste was first released on MSX2 but I just noticed further infos about this and apparently it was first released on Master System. Also the video here is at the wrong speed (50 Hz instead of 60) ;s
@@ryzmaker11 Compile and Sega had the same main shareholders back at that time (so I'm told), so they did a lot of work for Sega without credit being given in the game This being said.... Compile made a SHITLOAD of games where their name doesn't show up anywhere except maybe inside the source code.. on some of those you can at least check the credits at the end to see the name of usual Compile staff there. Just on MSX we have Thexder, Exa Innova, Columns, Gulkave, Godzila-Kun, Girly Block, Xevious.... On Master System we had at least R-Type and Aleste/Power Strike On the PC-Engine: Gunhed, Xevious... And probably more we don't know on all those systems and maybe bore.
After 40 Years i have finally see the end of this fantastic game! Many thanx!
Haha!! Indeed.
🙏❤️Same
haha spot on!

My older brother managed to finish the game, I was so proud of him. 35 years has passed and feels like it just happened.
that was my childhood goal right there .. thank you for beating the game .. this game is extremely hard but totally worth it !

Sensacional...
I played with my grand-mother !
R.I.P
My condolences
One of my favourite MSX games, I played for hours but never managed to beat it
Oh the memories, my brother RIP
I would recognize the music of this game anywhere. I played the ungodly shit out of Zanac Ex as a kid!
Played this a lot as a very young kid
2:50 - The Compile Jingle!
The MSX version is a good example of how shooters should have been like on the MSX
Amazing!!
Interesting, this game was marketed under the name Alexis in my region. Brings back great memories.

@@andreamanno4726 Thanks for this additional information.

omg! you are pro in this game!
The MSX2 version Zanac Ex is similar to NES version.
Amazing !!
I see you are not getting shield number 2, why? :)
how are you using invcibility?
weapon 7 is OP
Putz ... Bons tempos...

Fantastic!
slow?

Got more infos from "The Roots of Compile - 1998 Developer Interview" @shmuplations (I'd really like to read the full book btw).
So, apparently Zanac was indeed first released on MSX and then ported to the Famicom Disk System. That's how I always felt anyway but some date infos @wiki fooled me.
On the other hand said interview states that Aleste did start as a Mark III game before being ported to the MSX2 (but here it's weird because the title screen of the Mark III version says "Reprogrammed game © Sega" (not to mention that actually the production credits is made of Compile members)).
