Konami was really the power behined MSX. My friends were asking me how come you know the great games ? I simply answer them: just buying the game that has Konami signature on its box... during 80's .. those were the days ! I played this game when I was 14 years.. I am now 50 y ... how fast our years go :(

I was introduced to the world of computers and games exactly on this setup by my uncle Osvaldo on Oct. 12, 1987 (dia da criança) in Caioba - PR, I was so mesmerized to see what the MSX could do and this game was so much fun! Unfortunately that same day my uncle drowned and died :'(

Thank you for this! Kings Valley was one of my MSX games back in the days. Sometimes it was very frustrating when you hacked the wrong spot and got stuck. This is also a speedrun, nicely done.

Indeed. There's the sequel King's Valley II for the MSX and MSX2. Then there's the special disk version of the first game with 60 stages (instead of 15) that came with the level editor. It was released in 1985 and again in 1988 as part of Konami Game Collection Vol.1.
Esse jogo é um clássico de MSX, jogava num PC relíquia branco que o sistema era DOS, tinha q digitar 3 linhas de comando grande para executar alguma coisa e nem existia o sistema windows, e era do disquete grande ainda. Saudade da época, e hj tenho 34 anos e ainda procuro esse jogo que foi o meu primeiro jogo que eu joguei aos 4 anos, estou a procura desse jogo na versão completa. Até o meu pai que tem mais de 55 anos tbm quer o jogo e na época eu vi o meu pai conseguir fecha o jogo após de meses tentando fecha, pois o jogo é na raça e não dá pra salvar. E lembro como se fosse ontem, a versão completa é a versão King Valley Plus com editor, contém uns 5 mapa e tem 60 fases e tem modo editor para criar fase. Essa versão não acho em lugar nenhum, se me ajudarem a encontrar, ficarei satisfeitamente realizado na vida.
Você pode jogar pelo emulador, ou se quiser num console pode ser no Master system através do everdrive que o master e o msx utilizam o mesmo processador e vai rodar nativamente.
@@TheMSXChannel well it's not only Konami that has this issue i think, and bringing in new people shouldn't always be a problem. However i see these companies who started out with the love for games and gaming being taken over by people who have only love for money and the numbers that are associated with that. not only Konami but other great software houses from the 80's and 90's, they made great and truly enjoyable games when they still had the game first in mind and not money. True enough that developing games now take a lot more money than they did back then, but to quote mr. Miyamoto: "A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever."

Interesting. I finally had a chance to play this recently via the Konami Game Collection 1 on disk, and the levels are totally different from Pyramid 4 on. They look much easier here! Pyramid 10 in the Game Collection version is a real beast -- I can't get past it. There are also some pyramids with 3 exits instead of 2 in the Game Collection version, allowing for divergent paths through the game. And it looks like there are more pyramids in total, too! Definitely an "expert level" version of the game, it seems.
Hey where did you get that Konami game collection? Does it run on an old msx, or a computer emulator? I have been looking for these games for a while, thanks for assisting
@@msmemsme I'll be honest, on my end, it was just a DSK file I found online. I don't even remember where at this point, but you can probably find it by Googling. Runs fine on real hardware, though, if you write it to a floppy -- but of course should also work just fine in emulation.
It's a Japanese 60Hz game running on a 60Hz Japanese MSX, so it plays the correct speed. 😊 When played on a 50Hz MSX (like European system), the game and music plays 20% slower than intended.
this music is so damn good still, but i will never ever ever forget that damn Konami cartridge with Arctic Adventure. that tune is so damn annoying hehe.....DON'T GO LISTEN TO IT......^_^

In the other version, you enter the password by pressing CTRL+K. The passwords are: CRYSTAL BALL (STAGE 16), NILE RIVER (STAGE 31), KING SHIP (STAGE 46), YOSHITAKA ITOH (STAGE 60)

For the MSX Konami were the opposite of LJN. Seeing the Konami logo on a game meant it was more than likely going to be good.

Very under appreciated game from the early days of the MSX/Konami relationship like Comic Bakery.
Sometimes I took the wrong door and went back. One of my favourite msx games. There is also a version 2 I saw on an msx emulator.

That's because the Konami Game Collection is called "King's Valley Plus", and is a much bigger game. It also features a level editor. :)
