    Nice. I have several woodworking tools I want to make of an old saw blade and this gives me some good tips.

    Would this work for a larger kitchen knife?
    Like to make a Chinese style flat edge vegetable knife?

      It depends what kind of saw you have, if I would use this one Chinese cleaver would be to flimsy. Big hand saw like the one to fall trees would work sure, or look for saw blade big enough

    Nice handle

    Very well done.. I've been thinking of doing this with a "Skill Saw" blade and wasn't sure how I could soften the handle area to drill the holes. Also I wondered if it would sharpen well. You've answered both of these questions. THANK YOU.

    I recently started making simple kitchen knives out of saw blades. I haven’t used them enough to know if they hold an edge. Do you know if the whole blade is hardened?

    • @Take_And_Make
      @Take_And_Make  Год назад +1

      That would depend on the saw I guess, try to find old ones, those will be most likely hardened all the way

    I just picked up a heap of old saws. I look forward to giving this a go. Thanks for the video. What’s the longest blade you would do with this?

      No, but then you need to pean your pins with a hammer

    Sorry for asking but why heating the handle area?

    • @Take_And_Make
      @Take_And_Make  3 года назад +1

      I brought it to critical temp to soften the metal so I could drill holes easier.

      That is correct, yes. The point of this video, however, is to show people how to do it yourself. Hope it makes more sense now.
