Tapping the Telegraph - The Gopher Indians tap the telegraph to send false messages to the Colonel and Sergeant upon intercepting the messages sent by General Nuisance.
When "THE UNDERDOG SHOW" moved from NBC to CBS in the fall of 1966, Fred Silverman, CBS' executive in charge of Satuday morning programming, asked TTV to create new supporting cartoons to replace previous repeats of "The Hunter" and "Tooter and Mr. Wizard". So they came up with "Go-Go Gophers" and "Klondike Kat".
The General could also send the messages in person or send someone to tell the Colonel. Granted they didn't knew how the Colonel got the wrong orders, but you would think that after two failed attempts already, the General would try another way to give his message to the Colonel.

I'm surprised the Sergeant didn't think to compare messages between him and the Colonel. Still, those types are prone to anger quickly.
