    That female Doctor is completely wrong and she knows it. She thinks she has the moral high ground but she's just picking and choosing when to honor the patient's wishes. How that man deals with his sexuality is not her business.

      He describes his sexuality as "disgusting urges", he wants them removed, he thinks his entire life is lost because of them even to the point of opposing treatment of his HIV. On a psychological level, his judgement is compromised and his emotional wellbeing in extreme danger.

    • @KnuttyEntertainment
      @KnuttyEntertainment 10 месяцев назад +8

      1. He didn’t refuse treatment, he was just riled up and in denial in the beginning. 2. He thought he lost his dream of being able to father children, that has nothing to do with his orientation. Saying you need to enjoy sex to want kids is like saying you need to enjoy your job in order to want a paycheck. 3. When he asked to take that disgusting stuff out of him, he was talking about curing his HIV. And remember, this is right of the cuff of being told his homosexuality caused him to catch a life threatening disease, which interfered with his ability to work his dream job, ultimately getting him fired, and took away his dream of having a family. If someone who flunked out of school because of ADHD or OCD asked a doctor to get rid of these horrible distracting thoughts, I wouldn’t blame them for asking that at all. Or if a soldier felt so guilty about the blood on his hands that he asked to have his hands amputated. The dude is clearly and understandably distressed, but is fully willing to live with those urges once he finds out there’s still hope.

      @@LyingTube you understand we cannot take the position that one should be free to accept and live out their sexuality without external pressure without also accepting the inverse of that position correct? That people should be morally free to reject their sexuality in whatever way they see fit (if that means staying in the closest, remaining chaste or even entering into a "heterosexual" sexual relationship. He’s not going to be happy. You’ll never be happy denying yourself because you believe that part of yourself to be awful. The disgusting part here is a church that’s supposed to be built on love and compassion doesn’t have that compassion for people who are in love in a non heterosexual way. I think what the male doctor did was right for the time but that patient is going to struggle. He’s going to be miserable because a church has told him that his god won’t love him if he’s with a man. In the long run the woman is right. The patient should have found a way through his god to love all parts of himself. Because a god that will only accept half of you or only accept you when you’re not *you* is not a loving god nor a good one. No matter what the issue is.

      Many religions don't think of a loving God, or an unconditionally loving God. The Mormon God sees his love as conditional upon his followers keeping his laws.
      Many members of this church don't desire happiness, at least not happiness in this life. They want eternal salvation for themselves amd those around them, so they are compelled to act in ways that may seem impossible for the irreligious to understand

    The hospitals job is not to make the patient accept or love himself. That is a psychs job. If his wish is to be medicated and go back to the church then treat him and let him go. I hate that these situations exist but it is not your place as a medical practitioner to put judgement on his personal choices.

  • @amandajackson668
    @amandajackson668 9 месяцев назад +32

    He didn’t think to consult psych on the matter, believe me I hate psych but in this case the patient lying to himself and marrying a woman just to please a “god” and group of people that don’t love him for who he truly is and have taught him to feel the same is horribly wrong and he will go on to instill that in more children.

    • @KnuttyEntertainment
      @KnuttyEntertainment 9 месяцев назад +5

      No, you don’t get it. He wanted to marry a wife so that he could have children. You can hate your job and still want a paycheck. And you can love your job and still hate the paperwork that comes with it. In the same way, he can still want to start a family and love his wife, even if he’s not physically attracted to her.
      Second, he was fully accepted and loved by his church. Mormonism isn’t like other forms of Christianity. Gay people still go to heaven. In Mormonism, there are different kinds of heavens, and on judgement day you choose the one that suits you best.
      One of those heavens is where people who want to dedicate their life to building the kingdom of God go, people like Mother Teresa. In that heaven, you can become a god and help create planets and guide humans to salvation. In Mormonism, gods are biological beings, they can have children. Their job is to raise spirit children and guide them to reach their full potential so that their spirit children can become humans and then eventually enter the type of heaven best suited for them, like God the Father has done for his children on earth. And because a god’s whole job is to have and raise children, only people in heterosexual marriages can become gods and take that job.
      That’s the heaven this guy is gunning for, he’s a mother Teresa type. If he wanted to go to a different heaven that was less demanding, then that would be alright, people would still accept him. But that’s not what he wants, he wants to become a god, and so that requires him to become the kind of person who is able to live that high demand lifestyle happily, otherwise he’d be uncomfortable and miserable in that heaven and would choose a different one instead.

      @@wantan3_6_0 In English, anyone who finds members of the same sex attractive is considered “gay.” And it’s considered an innate unchangeable part of your identity, the same way a person with dark skin is considered “black.” English lacks the nuance of people identifying separately from their emotions. So Americans view the guy in the video deciding to have biological children, as no different than him deciding that he is not black. This is actually a very modern idea. For most of human history, “gay/straight” wasn’t part of who you were, gay/straight sex was just a thing people did.

    Bruh, the female doctor belittling this guy giving his patient the best care available and giving him the ability to father his own children and maintain his faith. And all because she thinks he’s lying to himself because he thinks there are things more important in life than getting a boner.
    Love is bigger than sex you know. Plenty of gay people choose to have straight relationships because they care about the biological bond of having children that reflect the love between the parents moreso than they care about the pleasure of the sex. That’s their choice, it’s what they want, we’re more than just our appetites. Just like how many people who love eating meat choose to become vegan for health or moral reasons.
    I wonder if she would say the same thing if this guy was a Tibetan monk who had taken a vow of celibacy or silence. Or a Muslim even. Something tells me they made that character Mormon because they’re not considered a protected minority by the left, and are free game to criticize.

      “Pleasure of sex”
      F you. Being gay isn’t just sex. It’s love. When you deny yourself the ability to connect with someone because you are told you can’t due to their gender, you are robbing yourself of the possibility of a life long partner to share something special with.
      And Christians talk so highly about the love of husband and wife, but all of a sudden it’s not important if that happens to be husband/husband or wife/wife.
      Because love is important. Husbands and wives get old and eventually sex isn’t even an option, and sometimes sex stops being an option earlier in marriage but their love is real because love is not just sex.
