    They are different tools; Keep is flat bladed screwdriver; One Note is a socket set. Keep is good for one off notes and pictures like a a property tax number or a part number to pick up at store.. OneNote is for organizing collections of information like a recipe file, detailed project notes. I use Keep to integrate with my gmail, google calendar and google task (I hate Outlook with a passion).I use One Note for my business reference, farm information from plants to machinery maintenance and schematics to irrigation design, Hobby information, and a plethora of project details

    Personally, I feel OneNote to be a bit sluggish on mobile version although it provides more features compared to Google Keep. Google Keep on the other hand feels very snappy and syncs well on all devices too. I use tags in Google Keep coupled with the different note colors to organize my notes. I have over 1500 notes and It has worked pretty well for me for several years.

    The killer feature for Keep is that it has a watch app. I make things like a grocery list on my phone, then check the items off on my watch when I'm in the store.

    Geez... finally, font options... other startups would implement something like this in a few days. It takes Google around 5 years to implement this😅

      I dare say that formatting is pretty integral to a note taking app. It is absurd to me that only now after the how many years Google Keep has been around they finally decided to update the app. Google is lazy.

      @@Accuaro I totally agree man! I mean have you looked at the main competitor? Apple notes is an absolute beast. It's not OneNote beast level but it's pretty darn serious.

    A few formatting options on Keep would be helpful. I don't agree that Keep isn't 'organised.' I have many different labels (pages) into which I can slot my notes and I assign different colours to each page..

    I use both keep and OneNote for very different applications. OneNote is for longer, more involved stuff, keep for quick lists and stuff I need short term like flight numbers etc... It's better for that since it's all on one page.

    I use labels, obviously doesn't allow for hierarchies but for my everyday use it's great. The google keep app also works beautifully on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 cover screen.

    This review is just so spot on. he just saved me 20 minutes of drafting my comments.
    I've used both products for a few years starting with OneNote and now I think I'm going to go back to OneNote even though I'm a big supporter of Google products.
    not to mention Google's history of discontinuing products whether they are successful or not.
    perhaps the only time that Google keep would be a better choice is on a small screen like your phone or you just need a very basic note keeping app. but anything larger like a tablet you can go with Microsoft OneNote.
    yes there is more of a learning curve but like anything else you get what you pay for!

    The resizing of the pictures is so necessary and to move it in other areas on the screen is definitely needed. The other points you've made are truly valid and Google should look into it. I like the fact that you can add colors to every note that really makes the format on Google keep aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. 😎💯💪🏾👍🏾

    Not the same as notebooks or sections in OneNote, but in Keep I use labels for my notes. Selecting to display notes with a certain label from the left hand menu sort of acts like a notebook. But not really. I do agree with you that OneNote is better.
    Since the Pixel Fold doesn't really have pen support, do you use a stylus or pen for handwritten notes? So, what would you recommend for the Pixel Fold screen?

    google keep has labels it's like folders. that is a step beyond color coding. i don't think i need a single other app for notes. for much longer documents i use google docs and organize docs using google drive. and google docs and google keep work well with each other, you can have a note on a doc, or easily transfer vice versa, or a doc on a note, etc. one google keep not could contain 5 very large documents so you can quick access them from google keep, or can open google drive and do it that way,
    to me that's all i need. google drive to do folders for google docs, and google keep with labels. i try to keep my notes on google keep lighter, and more rogue texts that are less serious more cloudy type of ideas, etc. i could dedicate a google doc for that aswell but i try to keep them seperated, like google keep is more quick on the fly type of stuff. if i am sit down in a library and i am taking more serious notes, i would whip out the bluetooth keyboard with my tablet, and use google docs for more of sit down i am taking plenty of notes situations. like i am in law library jotting down plenty of legal codes that pertain to a situation i have in mind. etc.

    Ohh I just assumed that there would be some sort of separation at least when it comes to notebooks, section and pages for Google keep but that's not very useful for large set of info. As an FYI, I've basically created my own Wikipedia crosslinking internally on onenote over time which is very useful easily linking relevant pages that are perhaps 5 years old and then create summary pages that helps you find stuff. I understand that's extreme but I guess my point is that information gets accumulated over the years and we need a system to find it and organise it

    I love how simple Keep is though, and this just builds on top of that. I can't keep up with notes when the view just isn't pleasant.
    I think, for negatives, markup isn't near enough and inserting photos sucks like you demoed it, but since notes aren't in some sort of folder, I get that it's for quick note taking. One app that gets the balance right is something like Xiaomi Notes, which you can even do mind maps and graphs with it. However, nothing is as light as Keep.

    After using Keep since... well, since its' inception, and after taking thousands of notes on it, I just realized why I hate it:
    The size of the notes in Preview Mode.
    It makes it damn near impossible to stay organized. I use Labels, Colors and Titles, but I could never seem to stay organized with it, because the size of notes isn't standard. It's so frustrating to have to scroll to infinity because you have a longer note, but miss smaller ones along the way. Not to mention the Chrome app on PC, where a longer note's Preview, is exactly the same as it when it's opened. Also, the fact that it isn't responsive to your screen size and just keeps the standard, centered view is an abomination.
    If they could add a "Standard List View", though, that'd be awesome.

    I create content as well. I do all of my management in google sheets. I realize that Google keep is just for singular notes here and there. I just wish there was a way to interlink between all of Google workspaces. I wonder if that works... If I can create a link to a specific google keep note and plug the URL into one of my Google sheets cells...hmmm never tried

    • @scaryifliteral

      @@scaryifliteral I strongly strongly suggest you try out Google sheets. I used to be a naysayer of spreadsheets. I never understood why everyone was so fascinated with them. But now just understanding how formulas work in the last three years since COVID I've been diving deep. Creating I spreadsheets that link together and things like that. Ones that do things like creating drop down menus in each cell for the status of the content. Automatically setting dates whenever a status is created... Emailing me whenever my VA's change the status from their own linked sheets. It's wild. You can create an entire project management tool with just google sheets.

    • @gumballdegree
      @gumballdegree Год назад

      @@scaryifliteral you can easily create drop down categories in Google sheets, and then you can also create status drop down selections. You can also put dates beside them when you published, when you started, if you need to update them. And then you can powerfully filter between what's been done and what's not through any category you've created. This is advanced level but makes stuff super easy. Basically putting it in a note tool isn't just enough anymore. Here's something cool. You can create conditional statements really easily! Whenever I change the status of something to publish, the entire line background gets highlighted green across the row.

    • @gumballdegree
      @gumballdegree Год назад

      @@scaryifliteral It's a good alternative to notions project management stuff. I don't use notion only because I want to fully invest all my time into using products directly integrated with one account like my gmail account. And then if you gotten done PM stuff dealt with using the rest of Google workspace you'll soon realize that Google keep is I would say in a sense, good enough? For small little tiny notes. And what's cool is these notes are easily syncable to your calendar. So that's something cool. As well as Google tasks. Just wish there was more interlinking. Google sheets has this pretty well done currently. Whenever you type the @ in one of the sheets, you get options. Lots of data stuff here.
