Figured I would share. I run an industrial CNC router, and it's old. 1999, OS (FANUC) last updated 1994. It took me 2 months with all the manuals to learn how to run this thing, hunt down specific parameters in the 900+ page parameter manual, etc. etc. (we bought it used and I had to figure it out from scratch) Well, I have PDFs of all the manuals. I haphazardly threw them into NotebookLM and I immediately asked it a really granular question about a specific parameters for controlling RS232 Baud rate - immediately answered me, and one of the 3 things it brought up when I asked was the exact answer I was looking for. Excited to find even more uses for this! Thanks for the vid!

For creative writing, this seems like a great tool. I'm able to import my outlines and character notes to get an idea of what the AI thinks about my story. That gives me a fairly decent idea of how well the ideas are getting across. Obviously some decisions just dont translate, but I figure if AI can understand what I'm trying to do, the average person probably will too.
Will DEFINITELY watch this video once my exams are over to learn this tool - can you make a comparison video of this with the known AI tools - especially those which are useful for students and researchers with bulk of articles to read.
I have been working on game development and I put some large content within it and it gives great results.. I didn't know you could put more than one document.. now I'm going to upload them all into one notebook and see if it will show me inconsistency or underdeveloped aspects or just piece things together in a way I haven't considered.. who knows really 🎉
So I reckon in a about a year, you'll be able to download three different biographies of Winston Churchill into NotebookLM and a AI version of Steve Bartlett will produce a three-hour podcast featuring an AI-generated voice of Churchill, using this material. Amazing!!
The Audio Overview feature is very impressive indeed, I also find that uploading a lot of sources make the "podcast" wierd. The wierdness is when it tries to make connections between the sources. When I upload a paper, and article, an assignment or whatever, the podcast feature is VERY good at finding new (to me hidden) contexts and perspectives.
Excellent suggestions! I'm running a session which is exploring playful applications of NotebookLM and this has given me lots of extra ideas. Will signpost people back to you. Thanks!
These use cases are really helpful. AI in general has been super helpful when used properly my biggest concern with AI is becoming more reliant and fully integrated into their ecosystem and then met with a heavy pay wall to continue to use

Thanks for comprehensive overview. NotebookLM's capabilities are absolutely impressive. I would be interested to know whether you can read emails directly from a mailbox. I write a lot, in the form of emails. What I would also be very interested to know is that I keep a grid diary every day, with multiple columns, handwritten, and quite complex. Is there an AI that can read complex handwritten notes and digitize them in the given format grid? Maybe somebody can give me a hint. Thanks
uploading a photo to chatgpt might work but the columns might cause trouble. make.com is good for connecting email to ai but unfortunately notebooklm has no api and cannot connect to email or other things.
Thank you for this wonderful video. I have a question: if I upload a book to Notebook LM to make a podcast, will that be possible involved in a copyright issue?

Can you use the OUTPUT Audio and generation commercially? We cant find anything on this, if you feed it your own data and it creates the Audio Podcast - Who owns it? We asked AI's this question on commercial useage and it says "part of Google Workspace, it's likely that standard Google Workspace terms of use apply, which generally restrict using the platform’s outputs for commercial sale or redistribution without permission"

How do you get the full text of books you’ve read to import into NotebookLM?
upload pdfs :) there are resources at the for converting kindle into pdf
Do you know we can upload and publish these podcasts created by NotebookLM or Illuminate to our RUclips channels with monetization? Is it allowed by google or youtube? I can't find anything about it. Thanks.
i would assume it is fine as it is in their best interest, but i am not 100% certain. i dropped a portion of one in a couple yt videos and was not flagged.
Hi there, great video. I need help creating an agent with all my teaching texts. No code guy
cool! the word agent can mean alot of things these days. curious what exactly you want it to do. have you tried creating a custom gpt and adding some of your docs to it?
Can you use the OUTPUT Audio and generation commercially?
We cant find anything on this, if you feed it your own data and it creates the Audio Podcast - Who owns it? We asked AI's this question on commercial useage and it says "part of Google Workspace, it's likely that standard Google Workspace terms of use apply, which generally restrict using the platform’s outputs for commercial sale or redistribution without permission"
many people are using it commercially.
What is the open source , local alternative?
i am not sure these is one but i bet alot of people would be interested in that!
It's on HuggingFace, has NotebookLM in title though, but don't recall offhand what it is exactly.
What format are the books in? Kindle? PDF?
the must be pdf to upload
Hi. If you upload 10 books. you have to upload them again every time you are using NotebookLM ?
no they are stored in yr notebook ;)
@@BlazingZebra Thanks. I did not know this : To name your NotebookLM, click on "Untitled" at the top center of the screen. After naming it, you can access your NotebookLMs by clicking on "NotebookLM" in the top left corner.
Been using Lilys AI for note-taking these past few months - total game changer. Way more intuitive than Google's Notebook LM. I can focus on core ideas while it handles the details, including turning 3-hour RUclips videos into incredibly accurate summaries. Love how fast they keep improving too.
What's the name of the transcription tool he mentioned? Descript? De-script?
descript
Can these podcasts go longer than 15 mins? Like long form 2 hours
not in my experience
You can enter RUclips links directly, you don't need to transcribe them first.
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏🏻, It's amazing!
thanks!
what is your Virtual assistant? A service? Person?
a person :)
i hve tried multiple youtube links from multiple sources and it often tells me the transcript is not avaiable whne it is available if i go to the youtube page directoin. what are the limitations on the youtube links when applying to google lm
