Best Kaku Obi knot for Japanese swordsmanship

  • Here is the 2 ways I recommend to tie a Kaku obi for Japanese swordsmanship. Both methods allow tightening the obi by simply pulling on the ends even with the hakama on.

    Thanks for showing that method! I was taught something slightly different by my sensei years ago, but it was more complex. Maybe I’ll try your methods out!

      Agreed! That's why I put it as the title, I didn't do that as click bait lol. I tried quite a few different obi knots and in the end I think this is the best.

    Very cool, two new ways to tie the obi for me. I like that your methods allow for re tightening.

    I just use my karate belt. I doubt it holds it as well but it works for me.

      I used my Tae Kwon Do black belt when I was in Tae Kwon Do. Wasn't the worse especially considering my school used wider and thicker belts for black belts. Thanks for watching!

      @@Catgat37 If you still looking for an answer, you could buy from Tozando or Seido. These are the greatest japanese budo sites to my knowledge. It won't be cheap, but looks and feels wonderful.
