In the 90s, I danced my ass off to this, it's 2023...I'll dance my ass off to this again...😊 To all my fellow peeps born in the 70s, we are, the future!
Funny you mention Lemon D. Dillinja and Lemon D both have amens that just jump out of the speakers and come to life. This tune is a perfect example of Dillinjas work, and say "I can't stop" by Lemon D is a good example. The kicks have a thump that is amazing, there's a sheen over the amens that is incredible. Damn it.
I saw a documentary a while back where he said he liked to run things overloaded through his mixing desk. Think it was an old Mackie desk but going from my poor memory.
I hear ya...but we've (Elek Tronique.tv) tried to get an interview with him and Lemon D. We got Lemon D, but Dillinja declined... imho Dillinja will take classic productions like this and /watch?v=rRt5ISZn9aQ to his grave...but for me it all started with 'Jah Know Ya Big'....
Yeah I've tried to get the same effect on my amens but I've never managed to do it, neither has anyone else I've asked about it. He makes them so splattery without sounding harsh. Could be some kind of analog-domain saturation.
I'm kinda angry at Dillinja. I mean, what ever he did to those amens and made them so amazing sounding... can he at least write a book or something, and not take it to the grave with him...
its a dam fucking shame that shit is secret, there are some well known facts tho, it was actually an akai sampler and not the emu he's known for (because of the metalheads vid) that processed these Amens, the stutters are time stretching and not chopped edits, dirt is given from the desk, a Soundtracs Solo and not a mackie like everyone believes ;)
I recall seeing 2000 ravers moving to this in the 90s...it was Godly
This absolutely tore up a squat party in an office block on old street, shoreditch on new years day 2019 about 8 in the morning was still going strong
3:00 Amen rising up from the bowels of the earth!!
Knighthood for Dillinja for his services to the destruction of speakers. Big tune
There should be a blue plaque outside the studio where he made this.
