Yh there was definitely messages that wasn’t needed, I had to DNF it at page 97, wasn’t for me, loved booked 1 though, and I am gutted I won’t be read the rest of the trilogy
I don’t remember the first book well enough but I remember Deka describing white hands as the most beautiful women she had ever seen and I feel like when she was describing that she described her to be black, but I could be mistaken. Will need to re-read to be sure. There is a lot to unpack in this trilogy. I personally loved all 3 books and felt the the series had some problems but overall was greater than the sum of its parts.
Fact checked myself to be sure and in chapter 3 of The Gilded Ones Deka describes White Hands as having “skin that gleams a smooth bluish-black, like the night sky at midsummer.”
Yes, I replied in another message that it was a misreading on my end. She definitely clarified that she was Black in the second book. I haven't read the third one yet, but it is definitely on my list. I'm glad to hear that you generally have positive thoughts and feelings about the completed work.
I pictured WH as dark skinned w/ gloves made of steel or something. I say this bc she’’s suppose to look like Anok
I always pictured Danai Gurira as White Hands. Regal and strong.
Love her and you're right; she would be great for this role!

Oh, no! I always say books speak to us in the seasons they're supposed to, so maybe you'll return to it in the future.

I was listening to the audio book so I got a little mixed up and imagined white hands literally, as her having vitiligo .
That's probably more accurate.
