My Ultimatte 12 HD to Unreal Engine SDI Port setup (Overview for Virtual Production)

  • I wanted to show my Ultimatte 12 HD SDI setup and mapping because I had some issues setting up and how to map it out for virtual production a while ago and it was hard to find a video just showing the actual setup.
    This isn't for everyone because not everyone will have it but this is for anyone who does need this help. Also, a reminder for myself if I forget.

    Hi Nathaniel. Thanks for sharing. What are the specs of Your Desktop? Which Graphics Card...?

      I'm guessing your name is Nathaniel because mine isn't. Hi Nathaniel my desktop specs are the AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 3975WX with the Nvidia A6000 graphics card with 128gb of Ram. Hopefully that helps. My name is Ed🙂

    Hey man, can you tell me how you got the Unreal Engine fullscreen output to your external monitor? I'm new to UE and am not knowing how to do that. Thanks!

      @GTshortStories  Месяц назад

      Hey, I'm getting the full screen output through the Blackmagic Decklink 8K SDI that's connected to my computer. I created a media blackmagic output in Unreal Engine that basically sends your UE screen to your output monitor. I show another way of achieving it in this video: ruclips.net/video/DztVB6fkx0o/видео.html Hopefully these help you on your journey. Thanks for watching.

    Great video, nice setup too, But I have one question for you on your timestamp. 6:38, you just say "in hear" what software are you using? You did not mention this software... I have two Ultimatte mini It was so complicated for me, still sitting. I don't have anyone to help me.

      I’m using Unreal Engine as the software. Hopefully this helps you to get your Ultimatte up and running.

    would the new G2 studio black magic micro , camera with its new 12G-SDI port on camera work in unreal?>

    • @GTshortStories
      @GTshortStories  Месяц назад +1

      It should work in Unreal. HDMI's also work it's basically just sending the signal to your computer. You will have to have a way to connect the camera to the computer in Unreal. That's what I am using the Decklink 8k pro for but you can also use the Decklink duo.

    Dope tut. How do you like that ultimatte over the normal composure keyer? Any other benefits? Are you planning to get the HyperDeck to record out

    • @GTshortStories
      @GTshortStories  7 месяцев назад +1

      The ultimatte is so much better than the composure keyer. The initial autokeyer that it does on your key is already 10x better and you don't have to do anything. I'm still thinking about getting the HyperDeck. I have my Atomos Sumo monitor that I send my feed out to and it can record for me. I have to see if the Hyperdeck does anything better than that.

      Thanks for the input. But you can still do the compositing in complete right? Cause I add light wrap and blur in there. The hyperdeck from what I see can be controlled through the atem so it’s just easier to control on desktop plus you can switch and record different streams.

    Very clear explanation. Amazing setup. I suppose it would be easier/cheaper to have a camera other than the BM 6k there with an SDI out instead of needing the converter.
    I recently bought a 12 year old $600(originally $12k) Canon C300pl with sdi,genlock etc which is old and only 1080 but apparently has been used direct eith sdi.

      I'm glad it was helpful. I was looking for a video like this myself when I first got my Ultimatte 12 and couldn't find a breakdown anywhere.
