If there wil be a need for major repairs I can imgine that they just shut down the service completly. I take the metro anyway, because the maglev does not bring you into the center.

I took this train from Pudong to Shanghai years ago in 2010. While riding it, it feels like a "fast motorboat" while levitating. Don't know how it feels nowadays to use it, if it has improved or if it still feel "floaty"

I travelled on the Shanghai Maglev in 2008 for the first time and then again in 2017. The interieur was really worn out. Now they've just put seat covers on them. What can you expect for a 7min journey 🤷
I actually thought this train went faster than 300km/h. I've been on high-speed trains between Shanghai and Xian, Xian to Beijing, Harbin to Beijing, and Beijing to Tianjin, that thought also travelled at about the 300km mark.
It runs at max speed 431kmh before now it only runs at most 300 kmh because the system is too old and the maglev company in German has bankrupted which stopped providing maintenance services to the railway from few years ago 😢

From economic side of view, this is fully understandable. This track is just too short to show the real potential of this train, which is designed to run over 500 km/h. The top speed is 431 km/h during certain parts of the day, like for instance the early afternoon. I know because I went on the Maglev before in the morning and in the early afternoon and, well you can guess what was the result.
For some of the people in the comments here praising Chinese technology: You are wrong. The technology was invented in Germany in the 1970s however it never got used there outside of test routes. Instead the people who invented it selled it to China, where Maglev trains were constructed on the basis of the German plans. Even the trains itself look 100% the same as they did in Germany. An old friend of mine worked at the project back then, he even got a model of the train given to him by their Chinese business partners in return. So yea it’s nice that Maglev trains get actually used, and China has obviously improved the technology for some of their newer maglev projects but please don’t praise people for inventing something that already existed 50 years ago

I suppose it is because of special switching mechanism principle. When it is need to switch, single route branch is kind of slightly rotating to match second previously not merged route branch. Suppose not possible to implement other way

Interesting the seating is six across with covers and that the speed has been drastically reduced due to maintenance and power issues. Might not portend well for other Chinese routes as time goes by.
It's a rundown line. It has been mostly for a tourist attraction, but now with 350kph+ HSR all over the place not as many tourist are interested in the Maglev anymore
