I can just imagine the day when people fit a PS4 into the dual shock 4
That'll probably be 30-40 years from now sort of like SNES.
@@Vandel212 15-20 doesn’t sound super unreasonable yet with that said I’m sure your idea is on the dot
@@defaultuser9925 we already have the power of a ps4 with those windows handheld from gpd
@@imre31000 big facts gpd is super cool
@@imre31000 it would need to be like twice as powerful as a ps4 to emulate a ps4.
2 years later with all the handhelds out there .... this is still awesome
l00ks like garb HAHA
HDMI wires have twisted pairs inside, same as ethernet wire. This removes the noise you were seeing with the hdmi port relocation. Maybe it helps for the next iteration!.
Ahh I see, thankyou! Yes I will remember for next time 👍
@@RestoreTechnique also all individual cables have to be the same lengh.
Was scrolling down to see an explanation for the problem. Well I really hoped that there was going to be a 1 up.
It's the reason the hdmi port is soldered directly to the board you see this with every game console now a days hdmi repair can be finicky whenever I have to repair with a jumper there's always issues
@@RestoreTechnique HDMI is a really iffy signal (at a pretty high frequency), it needs proper impedance, shielding and connectors
"The next day it's hard as rock"
Every morning pal....
😂
Hmmm...
@@RestoreTechnique Can I order this portable SNES? What's the price gonna be?
@@jimmyjones6086 Hi, I am not selling it/them sorry
@@RestoreTechnique :(.... Even if it's a price that really does justice to all the hard work?
This is the coolest build I ever seen! The fact that u fit all that inside a Super Nintendo controller is nuts! How do u keep that steady hand when soldering those tiny parts and the ribbon cord??
I must admit that soldering the tiny HDMI port wires was super hard, especially without a microscope (my new microscope was delivered after this project). I would often desolder the adjacent wire accidentally and have to go back a step.
@@RestoreTechnique how much would you charge if I wanted to buy one? I’ll honestly start bidding at 500$
This needs to be mass produced, it would sell in huge volumes. You could do different ones for different systems.
@Rolan Pretty sure next year Nintendo’s going to be flogging retro gaming devices similar to this build, but with as much of their own proprietary tech used in its construction as possible in order to cut down any potential middlemen, all the while claiming Old Shigzy himself was the one who had the inspiration to create such a product, just sayin’. 😂
I'd need diazepam.
This is so effing clean.
Man I don’t think anybody back in 1991 thought that someday they might be able to play the snes inside it’s controller unbelievable
@@nathanuniverse8607 first nintendo inside the controller
That HDMI cut out was so impressive. It’s a shame it had to be filled
@@omermide5692 SNES = Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
So yeah. SNES.
The inside is a nightmare but on the outside its really cool.
You made a handheld console out of a controller.
I'm blown away.
I know right
This is one of the coolest builds I have ever seen! 13 year old me would have killed for one of these babies!
Imagine telling your friends back in 1993 that one day your tv and the snes console itself will be inside the controller. You are crazy bro!
3:04 such a satisfying fit!
😀👌

RT: *builds a portable snes*
Nintendo: WHAT
For a version 1 of this, it is absolutely amazing, I’d love to see what you could do after everything you learned here in building a 2nd version, you got a new subscriber and I look forward to future projects
I honestly have this idea too but I thought it is impossible and now you came ... You deserve my praise you wise man..
Thanks man 😀
Watched both part's every minute and i must admit, you sir, are insane. :)
😃
Excellent retro handheld design
It's more a satifsaying video than a DIY Snes project
Man, it would be totally epic if you can make a series out of this by doing it with other Nintendo and PlayStation controllers like that
😉🤫
Pt3: revenge of the hdmi port?
Haha, maybe!
The lack of shielding is a problem. Try to keep the connections as short as possible.
@@RestoreTechnique please, this is so good
@@RestoreTechnique ...
You have the cleanest fingers I've ever seen on a restoration/build/repair channel.
Thankyou 😄👐
I werent alive when the snes was made but i'd legit use this daily if i had one
it's a damn shame you couldn't fit a large screen but man is that still cool as hell
That's an absolutely beautiful creation! Love that you could keep the original logo and text on the controller (mostly) intact!
This console goes against all the biggest rules of handheld design and yet looks incredible. Great job man.
Extremely satisfying that you fit this entirely within the original shell. The only change I would suggest would be to pop a watch crystal over that screen. You can easily get to the battery if it fails, but that screen is buried and needs protection.
Wooow ,now just imagine if we had this back in 1994, i would,ve been all over it.
The portable once/tg16 exist as well as the sega nomad
Would've been $1,000 though lol
Sega nomad would like a word with you
You would have needed 8 AA batteries and they'd only last about 45 minutes
@@MasterControl90original too bad battery life did not exist for the nomad. Double A-ivore.
One of the coolest builds I have ever seen as far as these portables go. Keep it up man. :)
This Device with a working HDMI Port.... Best Project on YT!
I am simply astonished!
This is one of those builds you can not put a price tag on. Well done.
I have a broken NES controller waiting for years to became a portable retro game exactly like this! Congratulations 👏
Thanks :)
I cannot even begin to imagine how much time and passion must have been put in here..
Absolutely amazing work, good Sir!
Nintendo needs to make this and hire him
your patience is limitless !!!!
that's such an amazing and unbelievable hard work you did there... I salute you !
I loved this video!! I can't imagine how long this took with all the attention to detail. I have seen so many cut corners on projects like these. Great job and I love the close camera shots.
Greatest build I've ever seen ¦]
For the hdmi issue, there is maybe the alternativ to use a 4-contact jack socket and a jack-rca cable. The video signal can be taken from "tv" on the Raspberry.
I would need to change the hardware and the coding for that right? That's beyond my abilities at this stage.
You could probably sell these for a lot of money. That thing is a work of art.
That's amazing!
I'd love the final result
Wow. Amazing work! Felt for you when the HDMI port wouldn't work. What a pain. If only we could show our childhood selves this!
This is legit the coolest thing I’ve ever seen
The time spent, the hand skills, the determination,...
Hats off to you mate
Thanks dude 😃
This is awesome! Also love that there is no obnoxious background music that most other similar channels have. Great work, subbed! :)
Can‘t say anything else than. WOW! 😍😍😍
Imagine going back in time and showing people that you could fit the entire power of the SNES and more into the controller.
Yeah that's what I'm imagining when I build something like this 😄
I know nothing about electronics or engineering. but i can't stop watching these build videos
Great use of transformation old controller.
This was an incredible build. Keep up the good work
For such an oldschool partially handwired build, it's for sure one of the neatest.
That's amazing! Great job!
That is awesome. You have a real talent for this looking forward for your next project
This is so cool. Nice work!
Great Build! Wonderful attention to detail.
This type of stuff is so cool to me!
I wish I had this skill set and then tools to do it.

Mad fecking respect
I found this absolutely fascinating to watch. You could say i was glued to my screen.
😄
Superb build. Love the soldering skills and patience. Vey well done.
Thanks! :)
Damn really cool and very professionally done i wish i could do that
yep, amazing! even the way you have edited it!
You can get out of a lambo, holding this in you hand.
The car wouldn't catch my interest as this thing would..
And I love cars.. but this... this is just another level of awesome...
Very impressive work! Well done! subscribed!
Although this seems like a pretty neat idea, the screen seems like it would be too hard to play on because of how small it is. Nice job, though. This is one of my favorite Nintendo projects I've ever seen.
True, it's just a novelty build
@@RestoreTechnique I see
Very good! Similar to the one I dream about.
thats amazin.. some of u guys on this planet are extremely freakin talented!
Wish I had the knowledge and patience to do this myself! Amazing!
Thanks 😀

This is a masterpiece!!!
Amazing! Now that's what I called a real SNES portable! A+ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Your detailed and clean work is very good
Absolutely gnarly man
Pretty cool, I want to make one now 😂😭
I love how you kept the plastic cut offs and repurposed them awesome video
Thanks!
You are so skilled to build !!! Wouooh!!! I looove that !
That is Awesome! Shame the controllers were so small, A bigger screen would of made it a lot better. It does take skill to do stuff like that
Good job. This is super impressive. Amazing what can be done today.
WOW! Amazing work
this is amazing work. you are professional. thank you for let us watch your incredible talent and idea
Daaamn that went well! I just subscribed, love your Videos so far.
I'd buy this mini snes no doubt 😂
First off, I absolutely LOVE how you did this. Few questions on my mind having seen all of this though. First is how has the Pi Zero not overheated yet since I didn't see you install a heat sink on it. Granted the Zero doesn't generate that much heat at all but this just comes as a surprise to me since I thought the CPU would need one to fully compensate for extended periods of use. Second question is would it be possible to do this in a larger controller type, for example an original XBOX "The Duke" controller so that more button options were available? Last is can I buy one of these off of you without games on it / Do you take commissions? Love watching fun engineering projects like this get done to such fun degrees. Gives me a raging brainer whenever I see a pile of old parts become a new gadget.
This is actually amazing work.. subscribed
What a clean looking results, Impressive project !
respect i also have many projects but im to lazy to start anything xD
That can damage your eyes, take care.
Is that a joke I don’t seem to get?
@@Nadie47 I think they mean because the screen is so small, it can cause eye strain
@@RestoreTechnique I guess that’s a good point, take care alright? I personally played on a lot of small screens back in the day
An incredible amount of work for an awesome result. Congratulations !
@@jcsworkshop5906 Thanks!
the detail great work
now we gonna need a portable NES
You done something really nice and clean, I wish I can do something like that, much respect.

Your soldering skill is amazing 👏
Since you use pi as motherboard
Why don't you make a ultimate psp for your own?
Thankyou. I may one day 👍

Just wicked bro. Great skills👍🏼
SPEECHLESS! Flawlessly done!
Hats off bro
Nintendo should hire you! You build your own game console but like a gameboy. They can use you. You built that on your own. Genius! You’re the man!
Congrats on getting this one done!
great job !!! this is right down my alley ...
The new s30 mini
Any idea why the HDMI port didn't work? Too much interference? Bad port/cable?
Anyways, awesome work! Even the editing of the video was very well done. You're a talented bloke!
Wire timing
Awesome job sir I love it, I have one here at the house with a pie in it and an internal battery and it's set up to support two players so on the top I have a micro USB port for the second controller to hook into with a HDMI out.
Nintendo needs to hire this guy.
I like your work
A 10yo me would've died if I had this.
I had come here to write this exact comment.
Good job you didn't then!
@@existential_fred yea
Your build is awesome! I'm impressed with how good it looked!
It would be awesome if the folks at Retroflag made the shell and boards for a project like your missing only the RPi so everyone that sucks at soldering could build one too!
Excelente trabajo, quedó buenísimo! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thankyou :)
