  • When you're involved in many projects at once, do you ever itch to see them displayed chronologically? In Notion, timeline layouts are the ideal way to gain a full understanding of the work at hand, and prioritize adequately.

I love all the functionalities that Notion has, but I noticed that the more you guys come up with, the slower it gets.

Bug detected! I have a timeline for tasks where dependencies are on but I set it to “do not automatically shift”. Dependency arrows are defined by “blocking” (ie, the default). All the Notion guides show the arrow as yellow when everything is good with the schedule per the dependencies, however if there is overlap between two tasks the arrow should turn red…however, mine ALWAYS stay yellow both on desktop and via iOS. (As seen on Reddit).

Love the new project planning features!!! Any chance you will add more flexibility to the dependencies feature allowing other relationship options such as SS (start to start) and FF (finish to finish)? Start to Start is an especially helpful logic relationship to allow task overlap and indicate that one task is dependent on its predecessor starting and not necessarily that it has to finish first. Having every task waterfall from the end of one to the start of the next can be a bit limiting and can artificially drive out schedule dates. SS (plus the ability to add lag) is very helpful and used often in creating well-networked project plan. All in all though I’m super excited to see the updates being made and look forward to whatever else you may have in store for us going forward! 😊

Can you now decently export the timeline?

The dependencies is really counter-intuitive. It provides no real functionality. String something with a date to a new task without a date and it doesn't bump it out (even with the shift dates setting on). But give that new task a date and weird stuff happens. Just go look at MS Project and Primavera and try to create a similar behavior. I now have auto shift off and have to tweak dates by hand. I don't want something, that was recorded as completed on a certain date moved to an earlier date just because something it was blocking moved earlier.
