    Actually there is Japanese anime about Cinderella. The original name is シンデレラ物語。It's from 90s. I love so much the music from this series.

    The Dutch word is "Assenpoester". It sounds like the word "AssepoeTSer" which means ash cleaner, but it is "AssepoeSTer" which is old Dutch for someone who blows out the fire.

      We are not, the origin of the fairy tale dates back to 17th century Italy and it found its way into Germany and the fairy tales collections of the Brothers Grimm, with "Aschenputtel" just being a literal translation of the Italian word/title "Cenerentola". "Cinderella" is probably the anglicised version of Perrault's adaptation from 1697 "Cendrillon". And BTW, cinder means "Asche" in German.
