    I like to overclock cpu's, to a point. I don't like getting crashes, so I just do "lazy" overclocks. Meaning I just throw it on the low end, on that E5450 I would just toss it to 3.2 to 3.5ghz. To make sure it has no crashing issues.

    I ve a q9550@3,4 GHZ with a asus p5e , gtx 660 2gb. I ve just turn the fsb at 400 mhz and nothing else. I plau iron sight and crsed foad fine with it. Socket 775 is fabulous for low cost pc. A friend gave me the p5e with q9550, 4gb corsair and 1to dd. I bought a box, psu and gtx 660, ssd, x fi platinium for 150 euros and i ve a nice complete pc :) my os is win 8.1 with 8GB it s fine

      The q9550 is a great CPU adding an overclock really makes these core 2 quads shine.
      Mix it with a semi-decent GPU and you have yourself a nice cheap little gaming rig.
      Sounds like a nice machine you have built.
      Enough for light to mid gaming that's for sure.
      Thanks for watching and leaving us a line.

      They really do shine at 4ghz.
      Unfortunately it was not stable enough for us so 3.9ghz is where we had to settle.

    Love your enthusiasm man and cheers nice video, been looking at an old 775 build that came into the shop that a customer didn’t want! It’s got the same board funny enough! Might stretch the old girls legs and see what she can do 💪🏼

    • @OFFbitTech
      @OFFbitTech  2 года назад +1

      Awesome, the board is quite good for overclocking from my experience. I managed to hit 4.2ghz as a max overclock, but it's stability was very questionable.
      3.9Ghz was the best compromise, but even every now and then it would miss behave.
      The Xeon e5450 CPUs can be sourced cheap but mods are required to get it to work to both cpu and motherboard (though there seams to be less e5450s out there in the wild, but you might have better luck in your local second hand markets than I do in Australia).
      But if you are looking for something that is virtually the same the Core 2 Quad Q9650 is pretty much the same and will slot straight into the motherboard and detect straight away (unless a bios update is required first).
      Also, had a quick look at your channel.
      I Love it.
      Very much a similar formula to what I do on this channel.
      Keep up the good work,
      Your channel will grow quickly if you keep going the way you are.
      Thanks for the comment
      and thanks for watching.

      Yeah the boards got a Q9650! I’m ok with overclocking but not to sure on the availability of the Xeon’s in the UK and my skill level with bios’s, we’ll have to do a budget build off one day 🤩🙏🏼

      @@andystech101
      The Q9650 is pretty much the same as the Xeon E5450 from this video. The xeon E5450 just uses less power and can run in a 2 cpu setup system.
      Other than that it has the same performance.
      The Q650 should be a good CPU to overclock.
      If you where wanting to try the E54xx X54xx cpu's, Ebay and Ali express is probably your best bet, but there is a bit of a learning curve with modifying your bios as you mentioned.
      If you ever think about it give me a yell I'd be happy to help where I can.
      Also a budget build off sounds fun, It would be interesting to see how the second markets differ from each country.
      Keep up the good work with your channel.
      I love the chilled lay back vibe you have.
      Something you can kick back and enjoy the build.
      Thanks once again.

    I have an old Core 2 Quad Q8200 @ 2.33GHz installed in my ASUSTek P5E3 Deluxe (LGA775) motherboard, is there a way I can achieve overclocking?

    • @OFFbitTech
      @OFFbitTech  2 года назад +1

      Your motherboard definitely should be able to be overclocked.
      Overclocking is done in the bios generally. In the Asus bios from that era it is usually set under the Ai Tweaker Menu.
      Have a look at those settings in there, setting the Ai Overclock to Manual is usualy the best way to get the most controlled and best results from the overclock.
      A good motherboard should be able to up the FSB to 400mhz. Keep an eye on the ram frequeny as well if that get to far past spec you will run into issues as well. It's a lot of fun and a lot of work but be wary this does put more strain on your components mainly the motherboard and CPU.
      Also a quick google I found an article from Anandtech for you board and overclocking, it maybe helpful
      www.anandtech.com/show/2381/4
      also we did a video on overclocking an q8400

      We hope that helps and thanks for watching.

    I need to updgrade my lga 775 board to q9500. Is it good for game (gta5) plus GTS 450? 🙏
    My previous cpu is Pentium E2180 [2 core] on G31 motherboard 😅

    • @OFFbitTech
      @OFFbitTech  2 года назад +1

      The Q9500 with a GTS 450 should be able to run GTA V.
      You will need to ramp the settings back though.
      I would say it should be able to run a 1920x1080 resolution but you mayu need to go back to 1280x720.
      I would expect the game to get you between 40 - 60fps as a guess.
      Let us know how it goes if you do try it.
      Thanks for watching, we hope this helps.

    I tried using an E5450 but it must've been faulty cause 2 of the cores seemed to be constantly sitting at 100%, making it oddly slower than a e7400. So I bit the bullet and just went with a q9500 at stock(OEM motherboard) which when paired with an rx550 is more than enough for the old games that I play on that machine.

    • @OFFbitTech
      @OFFbitTech  2 года назад

      Sorry to hear that the E5450 was faulty. Definitely sounds like a weird issue. The Q9500 is a great option that plugs straight in good choice there. It should give you some decent performance with that combo.

    • @OFFbitTech
      @OFFbitTech  2 года назад

      According to a Twaektown forum post, you should be able to get a little bit of extra performance from overclocking the FSB on this motherboard.
      Though this is not a great motherboard to be overclocking with it will handle a light overclock by the looks of things.

    I have c2q q9500 @2.83 Ghz I want to oc it to 3.6 ghz how much watts psu I need, can i set voltage to auto?
    I have a good quality 450w psu, how much can I oc now?

    • @OFFbitTech
      @OFFbitTech  2 года назад

      450w should be sufficient for the overclock.
      In the past we generally don't need to change the voltage with the core 2 based CPU.
      Though it can help stability but it does create more heat to dissipate.
      However, the biggest factor we generally find that determines the overclock ability of a cpu with core 2 is the motherboard.
      Generally we have found that DDR2 motherboards overclock better than the DDR3 boards.
      and some motherboards even being DDR2 are just hopeless with overclocking even when they do support it.
      The worst motherboard we found gave us a 3mhz overclock on the FSB, giving very little overclocking in the end.
      The only really way to find out is to give it ago.
      You want to use software to measure it's stability when you do overclock. AIDA64 is what I usually use.
      When you are tuning the system in at the start you may corrupt stuff as well, so be wary of that, most of the time it's just a blue screen and a reboot and it's fine.
      If you have a good motherboard you should be able to get something in that vicinity.
      If not you should still be able to get a few extra 100mhz which is better than nothing.
      Thanks for watching.
      We hope this can help out.

    • @OFFbitTech
      @OFFbitTech  2 года назад +1

      It will depend on your motherboard and how much Fsb it can push and still be stable since the q9500 already is using a 333 fsb over the 266 Fsb of the q6600. You should have better performance though with the q9500 in the end.
