I recently played Emerald and beat it for the first time and I love how this was the best way to send goodbye to the GBA for Pokemon. It brought the best in the game design and helped pave the foundation for future games to hop into with their mechanics and roster. Truly the pioneer of the modern Pokemon formula.
I personally like Wallace as a Champion. Not only do I find him suitable for the title, it also gives Steven the status of a post-game super boss, like Red, which suits him well.
Actually, in Gold, Silver, and Crystal, you can catch Ho-oh, And Lugia. gold and silver just change which one you can find first. In crystal, you need to catch the three Legendary Beasts before you can get either of them, but you CAN catch all 3 box legendaries in all of the gen 2 games!
It's the best Pokémon game in the whole franchise and it's where the series peaked. After this, Pokémon games started to decline as there would always be something worse than what Emerald was able to accomplish. 1) Pokémon Emerald has a stacked regional Pokédex so many great Pokémon to choose from, unlike other games where the team basically picks itself because there's only a handful of strong options. 2) The region is so well designed and so fun to explore. 3) The gangs or "evil" teams are by far my favorite in the entire series and it makes me wonder how did we go from team Aqua and Magma to...team Yell? 4) Post game is awesome. An entire island of multiple battle towers was absolutely fantastic and is still yet to be topped by any game after it. The battle frontier was one of my favorite things about the game. 5) The legendaries were so amazing some of my favorites in the whole series, some other great things like the soundtrack, secret base, 2 different bicycles to choose from, phenomenal starters, really good poke balls and items were also added in this game as well. IMO there's just no topping this game when it comes to the Pokémon franchise.
It was never the plan of either team to cover the entire planet with water or land. The plan for Aqua was to expand the seas so that Pokémon can flurish in their original habitat. There will still be landmasses and space for humans. Magma wants the opposite. But in their plan their would also still be water. The stakes at the end of the game were only that high because Groudon and Kyogre got out of control. You know shenanigans with the orbs and stuff. I would say Cyrus‘ plan is waaaay more bananas. And Let’s Not Talk about Lysandre. :D
I remember Wallace as a memorable fight when I was a kid for the sole reason of me enjoying using Blaziken's double kick to one-hit his Wailord lol It was funny to see the Wailord's HP slowly go down just because of double kick. And yes it was fun for me to try to challenge everybody in Emerald with just my Blaziken when I was a kid.
You can't trade eggs until you receive the national dex. Ruby and Sapphire did not have this restriction. I liked trading eggs into my save files at the start of each one in order to create my own teams.
7:29 _"Steven had one of the best teams in Pokemon history as a champion"_ Whoa, let's not get too ahead of ourselves. Yes, Skarmory is a pretty good opener and Metagross is as cool and threatening as always, plus Claydol isn't half bad (even if it will likely die to your Surf user), but the other half of his team is a bit... questionable. - Aggron has Earthquake (which is perfect) and *THREE* SPECIAL MOVES with a base Special Attack of 60, which include the two-turn Solar Beam, the prone-to-missing Thunder (when it could've had Thunderbolt, though I guess with such a low SpAtk any base power increase is very valuable) and Dragon Claw that's only good against Pokemon that Steel already checks. - Armaldo and Cradily, which just aren't really that good in general. While I agree that Steven is a much cooler and fitting Champion, Wallace is probably better in terms of team composition. Water is already a good type, so specializing in it isn't really that much of a downside. The only real duds are Whiscash _(which at least serves a role of stopping an Electric type sweeper)_ and Wailord _(a deceptively squishy Pokemon that doesn't hit that hard... but it still has Water Spout, so you still _should_ hit it decently hard if want to set up for whatever reason)._ If Steven had as good of a team as Wallace, then he'd no doubt be the superior champion.
Thank you for being a level-headed individual who thinks ORAS is better than Emerald. The battle frontier does not do much for Hoenn at all in my opinion And ORAS does events so much better imo. The Lati twins event with Steven, being able to soar and find legendaries through the Hoopa wormholes, the Delta Episode & being able to catch Deoxys in game without an event. ORAS even fixed the evil team problem with giving all of the major team memebers in unique redesigns and personalities. Even the grunts have their own quirks
I love Emerald for the Pokemon designs and the Battle Frontier. I really want to have a game, where the battle Frontier get expanded. I like the story. I mean, yes the teams have stupid plans. But cults are not known for doing the best decisions. I think they brainwash themselves into this ideas. As a child I actually like the Pokenav. It was so cool, that I could call all the characters and talk to them. I even had rivalries with some basic trainers, because of that feature. I was quite sad, that they dropped it and didn't expand it :D Yeah there is a lot of water. And surfing is slow. But I feel like they often tried to make many places memorable and unique. What i actually hated was catching Lations/Latias. SO annoying
I’ve been watching your videos for the last few days and you’re amazing man. Thanks for the great content and I’m already subscribed. Hope to see you grow!
I always preferred Ruby or Sapphire, idk why, but I do. Fire Red is different because its Kanto. I guess emerald is just overhyped because of the end game, which is good, but for me Platinum is even better for that. Besides nowadays there is emerald rom hacks that are just better than emerald itself.
That's something I'll never understand, from an objective viewpoint. I've seen people say their favourite is Ruby/Sapphire when Emerald exists, or Diamond/Pearl when Platinum exists, and it's like, how? It's literally the same game but improved and with more content with the third versions, how could what's essentially the beta version still be the favourite XD.
@@tamerkoh not sure about D/P but Ruby and Sapphire has an pure aura that was corrupted by emerald in the playthrough. You could also say it's not original but that is not really the issue since you can play Ruby/Sapphire multiple times. I guess it's the theme and choices.
In my honest opinion . This was my first Pokémon game so it’s very nostalgic to me but I do think the content in the games makes it at least top 3 Pokémon game . To me is #1
Not really, sceptile is the best because the game bombard you with water, ground, and rock types, give him a miracle seed and leaf blade is the most OP move in the game
As much as i love Emerald, it's it one of the most overrated games in the GBA library, especially within the Latin American community just because it was their first Pokèmon game due to emulators and stuff.
If I have ruby and sapphire and last played in 2003. And was going to start again I was going to get emerald but maybe makes no sense if I’ve played both ruby and sapphire. I was thinking platinum or white 2 ?
ORAS > Emerald. The sheer diversity of features and much needed QOL improvements the game had from past Gen 3 are far more valuable than a battle _frontier_ in my opinion, and ORAS still not only still has a lot of battle content to work with, but content that brings higher quality battles. Emerald is still quite fire though.
How can you complain about Dragon as a type when Drake actually uses new Pokemon with Salamanca, Flygon, Altaria, ... We've seen Poocheyena and Mighteyna ALL GAME so seeing it in the E4 with Sidney is BORING. Absol and Crawdaunt are cool though. Phoebe and the Glacia suck cause their teams are just one/two families (Dusclops & Banette, Glalie & Sealeo/Walrein) Idk how I feel about Wallace, I like that he can't be swept by grass or electric due to secondary typing but he isn't as cool as Steven.
because those are the only ice types in the game, its like how in gen 4 there arnt enough fire types, hoenn is based on kyoshu the south tropical area of japan while sinnoh is based on hokkaido which is the colden northest area of japan, it is intentional for both regions to lack those types
no its not, if you choose treecko you will be OP because the game bombard you with water, ground, and rock types, that means that you other pokemons will be under-leveled, the game bag getting full is so annoying and the game is bombarding you with trainer and random encounters, you can buy repels but you dont have accses to max repel until fortree, going on the desert, caves, surfing without enough repels is a pain, the single exp share means you will have to grind slowly,if you play on an emulator you can speed it up but on the gba is paintfully slow game, the constant objectives of chasing after team magma and aqua and going over and over to their hideouts is annoying as hell
No, it was never that good. It's super overrated, but still better than modern pokemon games Edits 4:25 you absolutely can fault emerald for this, gen 1 and 2 did not have all these HM's, bs, gen 3 has way too many HMs, and Gen 4 did it worse

You forgot to say that u can fight steve after elite 4 with all pokemons lvl 70 around, its like play against red
That is the reason he is not the champion, he dosent get it, hes emerald's red, the final boss
I started with Pokemon Yellow, but nothing beats Emerald for me 💚
Actually, in Gold, Silver, and Crystal, you can catch Ho-oh, And Lugia. gold and silver just change which one you can find first. In crystal, you need to catch the three Legendary Beasts before you can get either of them, but you CAN catch all 3 box legendaries in all of the gen 2 games!

I played soooo many hours of Emerald when it first released - like 400 hours with all the shiny hunting and breeding and so forth.
I lost my cartridge years ago but I had 390 hours on it 😂
I had 400 hours on diamond dude

I get that, Blaziken has to show people who is boss lol

It basically is.
It basically is.

ORAS is great, so is emerald but its like apples and oranges really
I love Emerald for the Pokemon designs and the Battle Frontier.

Similar here. My first and only Pokemon game for the longest time was Leaf Green, but Emerald was what revived my Poke-obsession.
Mudkip is objectively the best, really good typing and only has a grass weakness and there’re only two grass trainers (except from the rival)
Not really, sceptile is the best because the game bombard you with water, ground, and rock types, give him a miracle seed and leaf blade is the most OP move in the game

7:26 because Game Freak took "Too much Water" personaly and make boss of too much water
If I have ruby and sapphire and last played in 2003. And was going to start again
I was going to get emerald but maybe makes no sense if I’ve played both ruby and sapphire. I was thinking platinum or white 2 ?
It also plays at 60fps unlike sv which is a consistent 20 fps
Yes

Eh but almost got switch port but if, why not made it. Guess gen at time was almost over and pick to go next.
ORAS makes the experience too different imo. "Yeah anyways heres a latios/ias." 0 challenge
Nice vid

That’s a fair criticism, what’s your favorite game in the series :D
@@StrawHatMidas
tough to say because i like all them
yes
Gen 4 and 5 are the best (Not including Pearl/Diamond😂)
pokemon black and white are the best in the series
Maybe, but they also have the ugliest back sprites in the series, the back sprites look like gen 1
Emerald is the goat
best of all time easy
No, it was never that good. It's super overrated, but still better than modern pokemon games

4:25 you absolutely can fault emerald for this, gen 1 and 2 did not have all these HM's, bs, gen 3 has way too many HMs, and Gen 4 did it worse
back then GF made pokemon games as RPG'S , not monster collecting games like today
Omega ruby and Sapphire are dog 💩
No.
