Neat tech. I am thankful that Lon does these videos so that I am aware of options that I would not have otherwise known were available.

Sensibo is great. We live in Oz and had a problem with one unit that was changed out by Sensibo support without any hassles at all. 2.4 I think is the only frequency supported.

If my guess is right, the anti-mold work mode should be a sequence of actions: (1) switch to fan mode (which switches off the compressor), (2) run in fan mode for a certain period of time to dissipate as much water condensed on the radiator as possible, and (3) times out turn the whole machine off. What an ingenious way of selling add-ons...

These split units are very popular in my hot & humid country, so I've been looking for these for a while.
Would be great if I can get a Bluetooth remote to pair with it, or have a built-in display & control.
Some of my roommates don't want to use voice assistants or smart devices to control the AC, while others want the smart stuff. But using these in parallel with the stock remote would throw things off a bunch.

I love seeing these kinds of products. There's usually nothing wrong with the core functionality of equipment that lacks smart/networked features. For a while, the solution being pushed by companies was to just rip all this perfectly serviceable stuff out and install new Smart Equipment that, aside from having smart features and networking, might actually be worse at the core function (e.g., air conditioning). Anything that lets us prolong the life of what we already have is great.
RUclips cut off the title of this video oddly in the video list and in my notifications. According to the popup notification on my iPhone, this video is "Sensibo Air Review - Makes Dumb Air Conditioners & Split Systems." I mean, depending on how much you're concerned about the Machine Uprising, dumbing own the smart devices isn't a terrible idea...

I've been using a Cielo Breeze Max Smart t-stat with my Daikin mini-split unit in my 700sf, 12foot ceiling, garage. The Daikin head unit was mounted about 10 foot up on the wall, and I needed to get the system to read the room temp at a more appropriate level (like 5 foot high) to get correct temp (since Daikin and I assume other mfrs have the room temp thermistor in the head unit). Cielo purports to do this, but the app takes WAY TOO MUCH navigation to get to changing the target temperature through what they call their Comfy settings. When I saw the added text at 5:20 about changing the target room temp is predicated on it using the AC's internal thermostat (e.g. thermistor) I suddenly went back to my original issue with that. If the Sensibo has a thermistor built inside it, why wouldn't it use that sensor to determine the system's output? My WHOLE issue really stems from the fact that the primary room thermistor should be located at a normal height in the room- measuring it at 10 feet up on a wall is not anywhere close to properly managing system production.

I've been using this for the past 3 years, sometimes its not reliable especially the climate react which is one of the main reasons to get this device. climate react will often fail to turn on the AC but it's usually reliable when turning AC off, only once in a while turning off will fail. I tested turning AC on using the app (manual method instead of relying on climate react) and it works every single time. This still happens to this day and I have been bugging Support for almost a year, sending them a lot of logs and data, at first their response was good but after a while they just ignored me, and I didn't get any reasons why it kept failing. All in all it's a very mixed experience for me. On one hand this thing saves me a lot on power bill but when it sometimes fails to turn off the AC, it kept the AC going throughout the night. I once left home for a few hours with the device turned on and climate react enabled, it failed to turn off the AC when the threshold was reached and the AC kept going until I reached home. I don't use geo-fencing because it's very useless in the place I live (high density flats). There are restaurants right below my flat and when I went out to eat there, geo-fencing kept thinking I'm still at home.

Hmm. You wouldn’t happen to know how the units “climate react” feature work on an unit with infrared remotes would you?
Like does the unit refresh every so often or is it MRCOOL units are trash sensors?

So this should work with all Mitsubishi mini splits and heat pump? I ask since im getting the mini splits put in soon and they are trying charge me 330$ for each unit to have wifi. I didnt want to spend that id rather get this if it controls heat and AC. Thank you!!

    Thanks for the comprehensive review.
If the AC is switched on through the manual remote. Is there a way for me to see that the AC is on on the app? And control it on my phone. Thanks

    • @LonSeidman
      @LonSeidman  2 года назад +3

I don't believe so as the device does not have any way of knowing the state of the AC if it's turned on separately.

Great question and thanks for the answer, was wondering the same thing. So if there is a guest turning on the A/C manually via remote there is no way of knowing its status in case the guest left and forgot to power off manually.

@AM-pi2vk if you turn on ur unit with the remote the sensibo will detect that it is on.. and you could turn it off from the app

Does the Sensibo work offline? Does it run schedules locally and can you make changes if the internet is down? Alternatively, does it locally interface with smart home software like Home Assistant, OpenHAB, or HomeSeer?

$100.00 each for an IR controller that [practically] will only be used to control a single device? Meanwhile, for about the same cost a single Bond Bridge controls every ceiling fan in my home. Hard pass.

Nope… I was really interested till the subscription part. If they’re going to lock out certain features with a subscription that’s just crazy especially if you’re paying for the device. If it’s free with a subscription then I can understand.

This is potentially a wonderful solution to my problem. Let me give you a few more details: When my Mini Split (AC Pro) is in the Heat mode, and the temperature reaches the target, the fan goes off. When in the AC mode, though, once it reaches the target temp, the fan only slows down, but does not turn off. I was told that the reason is because the fan needs to run to be sure that it senses the room temperature. This is very annoying as I like a quiet office at home. (My home central air turns off and does not keep the fan running...)
It is unclear to me whether, once the setpoint is reached, you can program the device to turn the AC off, or, it just instructs the device that the target is reached, and then the Mini Split will do what it usually does, i.e., simply turn the fan down.
Do you have any insights on this?

    • @LonSeidman

From the "Climate React" setting it appears that the AC unit will be turned on and off according to the room temperature. See here: support.sensibo.com/l/en/article/c1wa1i632e-what-is-climate-react-mode
