The biggest concern is how accurate it is, I am Disappointed you didn't cover this .....

Agreed. This is a completely useless video without the verification on accuracy

Great review, I bought one a few days ago and it is super interesting! The app works almost in real time and the sensors seem very accurate. I can actually see how long it takes for my central air to clean the air- about 45 min.

looks promising, now selling for $90 Canadian. I'm sure that the other sensors will get added alongside the temperature sensor. I have an Echo Show 8 (2nd gen) and it think the device will add value to the Show 8.

I just asked Alexa chat help and found that by setting up routine I can turn on my air cleaner when smart monitor show PM level above 30. Excellent! I can also get warning announcements!! I can select from range of each of the 5 minitors and then do things!

Mine seems very responsive. I do question the accuracy compared to a more expensive monitor (which I do not possess) but I note that when we cook or vacuum there are very quick changes in the app.

if you want to see the VOCs go up in your kitchen, put the air monitor near some ripe partially pealed bananas. I did this accidentally, and Alexa announced high level on my Echo and turned the light on monitor from green to orange to red!! I also see the graph of the progression as the VOCs increased over time. Also interesting to see how the VOCs ripen the bananas!!

Great video. Cool device. As a do-it-yourself IOT guy, I wonder if this device could be hacked as I'm leery of 'free' cloud devices. Sooner or later there will be a subscription.

Or their collecting of your data.
If your room gets too hot too often you may want to be sold an air conditioner.
Or if your house is too cold someone may tell you to stop using so much electricity.

This is really interesting and I’ll probably get this or something similar-purple Air is one that’s tied to the weather app I use. But I really want something that monitors Ozone.

My question is does this actually work? Can it be tested against actual equipment that is known to get accurate measurements? It just seems to not do much for the current price at the moment, maybe updates will make it worth buying? Or is it just yet another device to collect data for free from you to sell it?

There are settings in Alexa where you can shut much of that stuff off.

I really thought I’d be able to add the current air quality readings to my EchoShow as a constant widget or tie it to a quick to view area of my phone.
It takes so many clicks to get into. I’ll almost never see the reports because the data is so tucked away in the app and I don’t want to always talk to my echo just to show the information.
The device costs a lot and I planned to get a few to monitor air quality around the house (we live near a high traffic train track) but I wanted this to be a alternative to the IQ air quality Monitor which can sit on a shelf and give me show me a constant read out.

Nice product but seems a little half-baked. A sensor device with a fan should have some method of cleaning dust from the unit, as well as the additional triggers you mentioned.

I think using an air compressor with an air gun might be the best bet to clean off dust without taking it apart, but I definitely agree!

This reminds me of the crypto project planets. Wonder if Amazon will sell the data in the future. A indoor sensor for planets cost about $500,- but there you are the one being payed. Hope this sensor will be available here in the Netherlands soon I will run it side by side my planets sensor :)

I think it's just the dryness in the air and maybe the dog along with that :). She is seeing an allergist again so they're going to try and figure it out.

I'm disappointed, I was hoping it would enable Alexa to speculate about your last meal. For example, Alexa might say, "VOC's are out of range, looks like Lon had beans for lunch again."

I'd be more interested in seeing a review of something like the airthings radon and indoor air quality monitoring system.
