14:09 you’d be mistaken, they were running two trains every time I was there at Fall Fest last year. They barely ever stacked as well. The problem is they always fall victim to long part shipping delays and things of that nature. That happened last year as well, green train was the only train for a while. I don’t usually recommend enthusiasts to go this early in the year, because they always get screwed over setting everything up and training staff.
This is my home park. I haven't been to KW yet this season but I give the crown to SeaWorld Orlando (for which I am also a pass holder) for worst ops. Usually the operators try at KW. It does suck when there is only one train though.
Mannn I’m sad about steel curtain closed. I’m only in metro Detroit and I’ve still Never took the trip to kennywood.. now I regret that. But I really enjoy watching the videos guys love seeing all my favorite parks covered so often.
Kennywood is my very first Amusement Park so this was awesome to watch. Man, yall had some great shots of the park. Energy Bars are awesome, great idea. I like to get local items like meat and cheese sticks or jerky, and also, a Mid-Day tall Boy of Beer from a gas station shop beforehand for a quick mid-day pick-me-up in the parking lot. In Michigan, we don't have Yuengling, so going to Cedar Point, Kings Island, or any PA park has that extra bonus. Great job and a shout out to DJ Kennywood for playing a cool mix of tunes in the park. I wish they would retheme the exterminator into something more Lost Pittsburg, like a Steel Mill theme. Hopefully, yall got a ride on the best flats in the park, Kangaroo and my personal favorite, The Whip.
According to a lot of the comments we’ve always hit some bad days. We really enjoy the park so if we could visit during a good ops time it would be amazing.
I always have a wonderful day at Kennywood. I have a couple of thoughts on this park. First, speedy pass is completely useless without Steel Curtain open, and running 2 trains. That pretty much is never. As must as I enjoy first dibs on Racer and Jack Rabbit, the price they charge doesn't cut it. As you seen, the speedy pass ends at the beginning of Phantoms line, and it pretty much doesn't matter when they load the station to its capacity. That turtle is actually a Harry Travers invention, and I believe the auto race is too. That makes them so dang cool. This park and Michigans Adventure can never seem to get all their trains ready by the start of the season.
I feel like opps are always bad early season with limited staff + new staff being worked in and trained. But either way it does stink when you get there on a busy day and see solo trains running everywhere. I'll still always love my home park regardless! You just gained a new Pittsburgh subscriber! Hope the next time you guys come it's a smoother visit!
So is your park cedar point! We went for the first time last summer and loved it! Coming back this summer and about to watch your opening day and TT2 videos to get hyped for it! Glad I found your channel!
Oh I love Phantom. I'm only 8 minutes in so I don't know if you got a chance to yet, but if you can manage to marathon phantom its so much fun. Oddly enough you said it was over hyped for you, and that was my experience with jack rabbit. was still a great ride and I got a shirt, but I was expecting a little more.
@@BeachcliffStudios Not yet. Until now, it has mostly been marathoning Cedar Point and Michigan's Adventure. In June, we have a month-long trip planned that starts at Cedar Point and covers Hershey Park, Dorney Park, King's Dominion, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and finally King's Island. After your video, I'm debating whether to squeeze in Kennywood along the way for a day trip. Hopefully bump into you on Saturday!
Turtle is technically 1 of 2 remaining, with the other at Ohio's Chippewa Lake Park, although that one has been sitting abandoned since 1978. It was used as a parts donour for Conneaut's in later years, unfortunate that Conneaut has now faced the same fate as Chippewa Lake (those parks seemed very similar not gonna lie. I love parks like that, shame they've been lost to history).
having been to KI and Kennywood this season...KI's ops have been absolutely atrocious compared to Kennywood's. KW is doing the best they can with the limits they've been given (limited train operation on Phantom's and Sky Rocket). Most of the Major Ride KI ops I experienced opening day couldn't give 2 shits about "moving with a purpose", which is the opposite of what I experienced at KW.
Our limited experience at kennywood always seems to be terrible operations so we’re going with our experience. Kings island wasn’t killing it opening weekend but they tend to be excellent in that area.
I love the Turtle ride. It is the last one in existence since Conneaut Lake closed. I rode that one too. Last time I was there I got stuck on Sky Rocket very close to the end. I might be in the minority but I really don't like Phantom' s Revenge especially at the end, a little to violent for me. I love Thunderbolt . Too bad Steel Curtain closed this year. It's a good ride.
Thanks yinz guys for another great video! That’s my hometown park. I agree with Milo the Jack Rabbit is the best wooden coaster there! Glad you got your exterminator credit. As a native, I know to stay clear of that ride if the line is outside lol. Quick question. Would yinz consider doing another blog of say kings dominion, carrowinds, or great adventure in Jersey? Unfortunately, I missed riding top thrill dragster by 5 days( I was so sad, but even sadder to know someone got hurt) so naturally I wanna experience king da ka. I don’t care for six flags parks doe( I’ve been to 3) but I gotta do it. Hope everyone reading is doing well!
Thanks, glad people are enjoying the video. We have vlogs for each of those parks up. Kings dominion we went back last year, carowinds we went in 17 and 22 (the vlog of from the 22 trip) and we might have both years we went to great adventure on here. But our latest time at great adventure we didn’t bother riding ka (we rode it before and we had TTD…😂)
If you want to ride Exterminator, do it at the end of the night. Not only is it fully warmed up, but there’s never a line. Me and friends have actually marathoned it on multiple occasions.
At Michigan's Adventure, they only send one car through the entire layout at a time. I rode by myself and they didn't put anyone else in the other seat. I suppose I could call it a zen ride in spite of the fact that there was over an hour wait in the queue! I don't know why they operate it like that???
The title of the video isn’t wrong! This is my home park lol and I must agree the operations are horrendous and the dispatches with certain coasters are very slow Racer being the slowest, the phantom has hands down the best dispatches especially with 2 trains. Kennywood is also the king of running 1 train most times for coasters and it really gets under my skin, I must say this though. Since 2016 their operations improved slightly but still not good enough.
I go to this park every week and yeah it's pretty awful. My friend and I had to show the employees our receipts for our dessert twice because they forgot it, and I timed a 9 and a half minute dispatch for black widow. Yikes.
Cedar Point is my homepark and I just went to Passholder Preview so I am a bit biased but based on the condition of the parking lot and park in general, things don't look very well maintained.
No Lil Phantom still??? Guess you'll have to come back later in the season to ride that, and get a better experience. I work in Kiddieland, so hopefully next time you come, and ride Lil Phantom, I can meet you both!
Operations used to be great when it was family owned. Palace has ruined this park. Worked there in the early 00s and we also had multiple trains on each coaster and rarely stacked.
I go multiple times every year because I live so close. The park has been declining rapidly in the last 5 years. They NEVER have all of their coasters open. When something breaks it takes two years to fix. Skyrocket closed for 2 years, then black widow for two years, now steel curtain for 2 years. It’s sad really. Operations are terrible. If I didn’t get in free like 5x year for my work I would stop going. Go somewhere else and save the disappointment.
As Someone who goes to Kennywood weekly its operations are not that bad. For some of these rides like Phantom Its second train isn't ready, and isn't even put back together yet, Rockets other train valleyed, so until they fix whatever they need to fix with rocket it will be on its one train. Exterminator is what it is, there's not much they can do about it so people like me who know the park will always skip the exterminator if it has an outdoor line because its not worth the wait. for other operations woes right now it was only there 3rd day in operation for the season, there still training people, and they recently switched to I-Roc, and thus there's more to learn.
