Awesome to meet you good sir! Thanks for chatting for a few minutes and taking a picture. I can't remember if I said it directly, but I know I did in my video. Your channel was for sure an inspiration for me to start my own channel. Also, my daughter is autistic so I do appreciate you putting yourself out there to talk about your experience. Great video as always and I can say that Kennywood is my local park and I've never rode Old Mill and had the lights come on.
The building for Kandy Kaleidoscope opened in 1970 replacing the park’s Rotor ride. During the 1970s, a burger counter was downstairs while the second floor was used as an ice cream parlor, a puppet theater and even housed an historic display sponsored by the Smithsonian on roller coasters. It’s longest lasting use was that of an.arcade (Kenny Arcade). Most recently, it was used as the locker rental area. It may be replaced as a location to serve beer possibly.
We thank you for making this video. I grew up at Kennywood. And we do fallow your videos. Family reunions were spent there as a kid. Had dates at Kennywood too. Keep it up. Thanks
GREAT MEETING YOU! Thanks again for taking a picture with me and my friend in front of the Penny Arcade on Saturday. It was a privilege to meet you and I am glad you enjoyed you trip here.☺
My younger brother is autistic and we love watching your channel, it brings us endless joy as we cannot travel as much. Hope you make it back towards Knoebels for the 50th anniversary of their haunted mansion.
I love your videos. I don’t usually comment but I grew up in McKeesport and totally enjoyed your Kennywood video. I live in Ohio now and haven’t been there in quite a few years! It was fun to see again! Keep up the great videos!
Jacob, you never travel alone; everyone of us are sitting in the car next to you on the long lonesome road and tagging along at every attraction you visit.
Jacob, it was great meeting you outside Noah's Ark yesterday! My boys haven't stopped talking about it. We really love that you're family friendly and we get to see America on your adventures. Thank you so much for what you do!
We were there yesterday and was on the lookout for you but apparently missed you. Our family really likes watching your videos. Thanks for coming to Kennywood, our hometown park. Come back again and hopefully we will see you!!
I did a northeast tour 2 years ago and went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Six Flags Great Adventure, Hersheypark, Kennywood, and Kings Dominion. Kennywood was my absolute favorite! So charming and fun. I really just loved the park and it was small enough to be easily manageable.
Fall Fantasy is when all the local high schools' marching bands come out and march in the evening parade. I did it three times, and my mom did it when SHE was in high school, in the 50''s! All the local band geeks looked forward to Fall Fantasy, because we got a day at Kennywood. EDIT: "Lee Cachot " on the tombstone is a nod to an old, long-gone dark ride called "Le Cachot." Jacob, you would have LOVED Le Cachot. It was meant to be super-scary, but basically, you just rode around on these crazy-looking ride vehicles that clacked on a chain, and you looked at vampires and stuff. It was a classic.
I love to read comments and find answers to questions posed in the video. Its great to hear of a fun tradition thats been going on for so many years. You and your mom are fortunate to both been able to participate 😊
@@SuzanneMartin-dh4zv Thanks, Suzanne! I've got loads of Kennywood knowledge. I grew up going there, and so did my parents. It's such a classic park. On our school picnic days, you'd get teased for a week if someone saw you getting on "The Old Mill" with a boy. 🤣
We love that you love kennywood as much as we do! My local/childhood park. So many good memories. Thank you carpetbagger for letting us live vicariously through you as you travel !
I took my wife for her first visit to the Mysterious Mansion in Gatlinburg today and we both shouted “no scares on stairs!” They, in fact, scared us on the stairs. Still my favorite haunt ever lol
I'm in England and I LOVE seeing America through your eyes (and camera lens!) Jacob. You've inspired me to do some travel vlogs here in the UK, so thank you!
well Jacob its because you are a very very special person who brings joy to my life and everyone else life.. your full fun and its what we need, and there people out there that cant travel every were but watching you makes it better. We love you Jacob and keep on with your adventures were right by your side.
I loved Noah’s Arc! I no longer ride the thunderbolt . One time I was on it and my seat belt came undone and I couldn’t get it refastened . Thought my life was over!!!
I grew up and went to school very near Kennywood . School picnics were held there. Mind you that was a very long time ago but we do try to get back occasionally for visits. The memories are always there. Thank you for stopping by OUR Kennywood Park and hope to see you back here soon!
Jacob wanted you to know, your videos along with Jen's are very comforting to me and so many others. I have been a long time viewer and love to see that you are nearing 500k subscribers, how Awesome! These people with all the negativity, you need to ignore, they are only jealous of what you have accomplished and you need to Let it Go, Ignore them please! Keep doing what you do best and remember there's only You, The One and Only Carpetbagger!
Jacob, my husband and I LOVE your videos! I have been following you for years, and my husband is also now a loyal follower! We love getting your post card every month also!! Watching you is good for our mental health. You take us places we’ll probably never see! Thank you for all you do!!
You do a great job at bringing the attractions and events to people who can’t get out as much as they would like. It gives people a chance to see what’s out there as well. Keep up the good work and deflect all the negativity. Keep the wheels turning Carpetbagger! 👍
This is 100% Truth! I would not get to, see these amazing and fun places, if not for Jacob (and his sweet girl Jen)! 😊 💜 💜 💜 I have many health issues, and am unable to travel, too far. 😢 Thanks to Jacob, for bringing me along, on his adventures! 😊😊
Mr Jacob I don’t care what some of these people say it would be a pleasure to have our paths cross and spend a few moments chatting with you. I have run into one vlogger and who knows maybe I’ll run into you next, keep on keeping on and Thanks for what you do
Hey Jacob I’m from this area and I just wanted to say that fall fantasy is when high school marching bands from the area march in a parade. Also the kandy kalidoscope used to be a rotor ride and the area above was where the operators were.
I suffer from chronic pain so sitting standing or walking is very difficult most times. I could never go to any of the cool places you take us. So thank you for taking us along on your travels. I couldn't do it without you!❤
I love Kennywood! I grew up there. The Fall Festival Parade season is about the local High School bands coming and marching through the park. I had done it many times when I was in High School back in the 70's. Thanks for bringing back to me a lot of those memories with your vlog! Safe travels my friend!
I'm so glad to see you doing a video from Kennywood! I have been going to that park since I was a kid and we go once a year usually during the fall fantasy. Although we can't ride most of those rides anymore , we still love going. The french fries from the potato patch are awesome and worth the trip LOL. Thanks for sharing and be safe out there . 😀❤
I don't remember how I came across your channel but I'm very glad I did. You are a genuine, down to earth person that really knows how to appreciate the whimsical things in life and that is a real joy to witness. I hope I get to see you in person one day. 💜
Thanks for all the great videos. You are living my dream of touring the country and visiting museums and roadside attractions. I live in the Bay Area, so whenever I’m at the Boardwalk or Fisherman’s Wharf I always make sure to stop by and visit Laughing Sal. I would love to go to Kennywood someday and say hi to the one there. Like most of the spots you go to, it looks like my kind of place
I'm a local in Pittsburgh PA and the Kandy Kaleidoscope on top of that building you seen empty now, use to be where people would store there things in lockers. I forgot how much it costs but there use to be lockers. P.S. Love your videos!!
West Mifflin, Tennessee?! Lol 😂 right outside of my hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. I needed that laugh. Omg I miss Kennywood so much. I love in South Carolina now by Carowinds.
Hey, Jacob! I grew up in Pittsburgh & went to Kennywood all the time as a kid so it's always great to see these visits to such a beloved, nostalgic park. Just wanted to answer your question on what that space used to be above the Kandy Kaleidoscope store. It used to be lockers where you could keep your personal belongings because of the water rides, roller coasters, etc. Pretty sure it was coin operated, too. Hope that's interesting! Thanks for the awesome content!
That area above the candy shop was where the Rotor was. After decades of holding my kids & grankids on the Merry Go Round horses, now I sit on the seats on the outside that don't move. 😮💨
I can't believe you lucked up n made it to two opening days of the entire park season in a row at the same park!!! Attaboy, Carpetbagger!!! Kennywood is totally unique because it is an actual old fashioned trolley park in it's origin!!! Also gotta love Noah's Ark n I do remember you showing us Garfield's Nightmare Dark Ride before, n I am definitely excited to go on the first Dark Ride of the park season with you!!! I hope it's worth doing twice!!!!☠️⚰️🪦🔥👻👿👺👏
Kennywood is just one of those great historic classic theme parks. Not far in Ligoneer Pennsyvania is Idlewild Park and Storybook Forest, kind of an older historic classic Legoland type of a park for a more younger crowd. There are no shortage of attractions in the Pittsburgh are. There's a really nice water park near Kennywood Park, forgot the name of it though,I think it's called Sandcastles, not sure.
Oh man, that cat noise on the dark ride turned into an ear worm and I kept hearing it for a while after Your video 😹 Kennywood looks fun though 🙌😺 I really love the older amusement parks because they are so unique ❣️ As always, Thank You Jacob 🙏💝😻
I am glad to see you get recognition in person on your travels. Kennywood looks like great family fun. Although the Old Mill ride seems really special I think my favorite was the Ghost themed ride . That UFO section looks like it will be really cool when finished. Great tour of the park Jacob Thank you Keep Safe ❤Keep Well❤
Thank you so much for showing My Home amusement park Kennywood! I’m from Pittsburgh and live here still and love to see this music park get some love on RUclips!🎉 interestingly enough, I have a Kennywood’s T-shirt on at Universal Studios, Florida, and several people came up to me to complement my T-shirt, and said, they loved Kennywood and asked me if I was from Pittsburgh!
Jacob I'm so glad you got to Kennywood for opening day! Loved every minute of it. So glad to see the Old Mill is back! So glad to see the Merry Go Round is still there, & the Thunderbolt still working. The Potato Patch was our favorite place to get french fries with cheese. It was so good! There was a choice of plain, cheese, vinegar, & gravy. I don't remember the bacon bits, but that sure looked good. 1st time ever my mouth started watering seeing those fries. Thank you Jacob! I'm elate you had a good time. I loved Kennywood all my life. We've taken our children & currently this Summer, the Grandchildren. Just love it! I have a Daughter lives near there.
It’s funny that when the old mill got changed to Garfield’s Nightmare, it’s arguably a better ride. Had way more theming and better quality ride. It did feel out of place for the feel of Kennywood, so it makes sense that older people missed the old theme. This is one of the few times a ride got downgraded back to its older self. Still fun to go on. Nowadays I keep seeing people missing the Garfield theme lol
The only explanation I've ever heard is that a carousel only has horses, whereas a merry-go-round has multiple types of animals. Love your videos!! Thank you for all the feel- good content!!
Found on "Kennywood behind the screams" In 1927, the Grand Carousel replaced the park's 1913 carousel. The new ride was too large for the park's original 1899 building, so a new carousel pavilion was built with iron framing, the one still there. Meanwhile, an adjacent Soda Fountain and Grill moved into the old and empty round carousel building. This structure, the park's oldest, has offered food service ever since, including the open-air "Carrousel" Food Court and, since 2014, Johnny Rockets
I Love the park I was there from opening to closing of the ERT pass holders got yesterday on opening day! Thank you for showcasing our incredible top tier park!
I am a registered nurse and come home everyday and relax to ure videos. Also we planned our vacation based on ure trip to Folly Beach. U help me decide where I would want to visit and see things I may never see. Than you
I love watching your videos. You sure have had your car problems. Keep the videos coming and I am so happy that you are moving on with your life. You deserve the best. best of luck to you and Jen.
I’m born and raised Pittsburgh. Love Kennywood, I’ll be taking my grand babies June 3rd. I haven’t been in about 20 years. Think I’m more excited then they are 😂 thanks for sharing this! For people who know and don’t know Kennywood!
From what I remember, on top of that candy store coming into Kennnywood there were lockers you could rent to keep your belongings safe if you didn't want to carry everything with you.
oh goodness, my partner, my best friend and i made the video haha!!! my partner is so excited we made the cut but so disappointed we didn’t see you to say hi lol, the ride you were talking about where “Spinvasion” is was called the Volcano!! hope you had fun on opening day!💛🖤
I was thinking it would be a nice day to go to Kennywood because it's not very hot.🔥 It's so nice to see you back in PA in my neck of the woods!!!! The rules are stricter because of the shootings last year... luckily no one was killed, it was young people.😣😣
Hi, Jacob, my name is Alan and I reside in Weirton WV as well as a lifelong resident of Weirton. Kennywood is my home amusement park. It takes a little over an hour to get to Kennywood from Weirton, 1 hour 15 minutes, 1 hour 20 minutes depending on traffic. I really like your RUclips Channel, really interesting videos. I'm going to Kennywood tomorrow on Saturday, with some friends of mine. Kennywood is a great old amusement park. Have a great day! Take care, Alan.
I think in the late 80s/early 90s there was an arcade above the candy store, and later on, they had lockers. Based on other comments, it sounds like before that, it was a ride, but that was before my time.
Omg at the end you stopped to see Joe! Im from this area- Ive watched you visit so many places. So cool to see you in our neck of the woods. You always choose such great aspects to share w us. The burgh hearts Carpetbagger.
I’m a Yinzer through & through. So glad you went to Kennywood. For us in the Burgh we all have special memories of that park. I went on school picnic day & Polish day with my family. Then when I had my own kids took them there. My son even worked there. You didn’t show if you rode any of the coasters. Jack Rabbit is my favorite. Thank you for sharing 😊
Kandy Kaleidoscope used to be Riding the Rotor, which made it's debut at Kennywood Park near Pittsburgh in 1955. The Rotor is an amusement park ride, designed by German engineer Ernst Hoffmeister in the late 1940's. The ride was first demonstrated at Oktoberfest 1949 and was exhibited at fairs and events throughout Europe during the 1950's and 1960's. The Rotor is a large, upright barrel rotated at 33 revolutions per minute. The rotation of the barrel creates a centrifugal force equivalent to almost 3 g. Once the barrel has attained full speed, the floor is retracted, leaving the riders stuck to the wall of the drum. At the end of the ride cycle the drum slows down and gravity takes over. The riders slide down the wall slowly. Most Rotors were constructed with an observation deck. The Rotor was in operation at Kennywood from 1955-1958 and again from 1965-1994. To replace it, they turned it into a Double Story restaurant. Over time, this became the Candy Kaleidoscope and lockers.
We had a Rotor at Six Flags Great America a long time ago too. I wonder if any still exist? I know it was really dangerous because I saw injuries all the time.
My grandparents use top take me to Old Orchard Beach in Maine when I was young. They had a Noah's Ark walk through attraction there but it unfortunately burned down in 1969. I remember hearing about the fire and everyone being so sad.
Awesome video! My only comment is that at 20:38, you read the sign on this building as "Area Four-Twelve," when in the Pittsburgh area, the area code is always said as "four-one-two." I know it's confusing because in other areas, like Youngstown, Ohio, where their area code is 330, they say it as "three-thirty." And toward the beginning, when you wonder what used to be on top of the Kandy Kaleidoscope, that area was rental lockers. They must have taken those out during the pandemic. I worked in the Kennywood PR department back in 2014-15, so I was able to learn quite a bit about the park's history. It's a fascinating and special place, and I'd say it's in the pantheon of those places that are part of the Pittsburgh identity. Suffice to say, it was refreshing to see your video because Kennywood tends to be viewed so nostalgically by Pittsburghers, and I really enjoyed hearing an out-of-towner's thoughts and impressions of the park.
Man my wife and I really enjoy your channel you go places we are thinking about visiting and you kinda give us a sneak peek and we really enjoy your holiday season videos
I enjoy when you enjoy yourself and speak from your heart. I think lots of people might be nervous meeting a celebrity, so its nice to know you welcome them! Great video!

You keep coming to Kennywood, 25 minutes downriver from me, and never stop in and say Hi! 😠 😅 I'm 57, lived here most of my life so that's my Park! Thank you for sharing with the world! Subscriber for a few years now..
West Mifflin is in Pennsylvania, not Tennessee, not sure what was going on in my brain.
Your still in the month of April not May ha ha I have those days all the time
Tennessee state of mind…
Dollywood brother 😂 That's where that brain was at somewhere in that Smoky mountain rain
I was thinking I thought Kennywood was in PA 😂
Haha Tennessee was on your mind

MISS THE GARFIELD RIDE
Hey if you’re ever back in Tulsa, Ok area we’d love to take you to dinner and meet you. 🙌
Hey Jacob, thanks for coming back to Kennywood, as usual great video
Thanks!
Thank you!
Than you
I'm glad your not bothered or annoyed by your fans like other youtubers/celebrities are. Good to know you are so approachable 😊
So glad you had a great experience with fans. Good to focus on the nice people who care about you and ignore the haters who aren’t worth it.
Looks like a nice park. Never been but like your video when the dark ride was Garfield over the mine ride.
WE ENJOYED & LAUGHED THROUGH THE GARFIELD RIDE
Glad you got a lot of recognition at Kennywood. Love that park.
From what I remember, on top of that candy store coming into Kennnywood there were lockers you could rent to keep your belongings safe if you didn't want to carry everything with you.
oh goodness, my partner, my best friend and i made the video haha!!! my partner is so excited we made the cut but so disappointed we didn’t see you to say hi lol, the ride you were talking about where “Spinvasion” is was called the Volcano!! hope you had fun on opening day!💛🖤
I'm the one in the back!!! ARE WE THERE YET 😂 Love our road trips! Was that the snowman that was stolen? Safe travels. Muc Luv 💖
0:10 I think you meant PA my guy 😂
Oh! KENNYWOOD! Ur right near my sister and her family right now! 😊
My boyfriend was there and was bummed he didn’t run into you! Lol
Such an awesome day at Kennywood! Love your content, Jacob!
Laughing Sal used to be outside the train ride at Kennywood.
@@SaccharineChaperone I saw that on internet that ride can give you broken bones, concussions, bumps, and bruises.
@@tbluthardtjr1969 Awesome @Tommy’s Toybox! How was that?
It made it's come back in 1965 and was the Rotor most of us remember back in the day.
@@melaniedavis1480 Cool Mel!
Thank you for the most complete showing of Noah's ark out there that and the old school rides.
Thanks so much for sharing this amazing location🎠🎡🎢 Always love a good carousel and Himalaya ride!!!
My grandparents use top take me to Old Orchard Beach in Maine when I was young. They had a Noah's Ark walk through attraction there but it unfortunately burned down in 1969. I remember hearing about the fire and everyone being so sad.
One of the Old Mill tombstones says G. Nightmare “I hope there is lasagna.”
Garfield lol
Woo! Kennywood again! I love your videos of this place and want to visit it with my wife so bad!
Visit Knobels before you go back! See if the special coaster is finally up and running.
Very fun place. I want to go!
Stay positive ! You are the best !
Don't let those idiots on negative gets you down
You are the best ! Jacob !
Man my wife and I really enjoy your channel you go places we are thinking about visiting and you kinda give us a sneak peek and we really enjoy your holiday season videos

You keep coming to Kennywood, 25 minutes downriver from me, and never stop in and say Hi! 😠 😅 I'm 57, lived here most of my life so that's my Park! Thank you for sharing with the world! Subscriber for a few years now..
Different parks, different rules...search the story about the shooting that happened there last year.
Jacob you are loved and for many an extended part of the family. You are right in the middle by age of my two sons! The ‘plus’ side of fame😅
I think he meant to say Pennsylvania instead of Tennessee
