If they ever remove the arrow chain lift hill we will riot
“Three Days Grace - Riot” starts playing lol
Man it would be a different world if parts lasted “forever”…. I miss the original Steel Phantom, it brings back so many memories.
That lift motor is a Dodge TXM gear reducer machine (not affiliated with Stellantis Chrysler car company) but they might have a hard time coming by replacement parts since as you mentioned, the lift hill, brake run track and lift motor are from the Steel Phantom.
During the 1st season in 2001, the Phantom could only run one train due to a lack of brakes. They underestimated how many brakes they needed and in the 2002 season, they added additional brakes.
The Jack Rabbit uses “hand me down” brakes from the Steel Phantom braking system. Check it out the next time you ride inside the brake run.
I hope all goes well for the Phantom. It’s one of my favorites. I rode it the first day it opened back on May 19, 2001.
No idea what the problem was, but thankfully they were quick and efficient at fixing whatever problem the ride had, for the park annocuced that it is fixed and will be opened on Saturday, as for why I am not mentioning today it is because they are only opened for a private event and not for all guests but tomorrow and or Saturday is opened for everyone.
I'll just have to check its site before going, so i dont waste a trip, thanks for the heads up! But having worked at a amusement park before, they can close one day and open later that same day, sometimes days.
Good thing is, apparently it’s opening tomorrow confirmed by Kennywood themselves… secondly, they typically don’t specify on their site if a ride is closed.
@@RMsteelerfan7 how unDisney-like of them 😂
Rust is hard to believe, because when they were doing a repaint in 2022 they would have done a sand blast on the track which would have removed the rust and if and integrity issues were found they would have mitigated it and done repairs before the repaint. Painting over rust is stupid and a company would never do that.
Whatever the issue was, it’s fixed now thankfully. The ride reopened a day after the video came out. But no, I’m not kidding that they did not do anything prior to the repaint… they just painted right overtop, which I do agree is stupid.
@@RMsteelerfan7 if they were to paint over rust, the paint would not have lasted 3 months let alone 2 years now. I remember seeing picture during the recoat of them blasting.
If that’s the case, I hope they did… but it seems they just kinda spray painted it over. The original green paint is still below it, and on the lift hill even the old black track color… same with the supports, the white color from Steel Phantom is still there below the current black despite several repaints.
I rode the phantom revenge last year during August 1st 2023 and it was very fun and last year was my first year riding the phantom revenge and I was enjoying it but I was also a little bit shocked because of how fast was and now it is my favorite roller coaster in at Kennywood
Hmmmmm..... we were there back in July of this year, 2024, and it was running fine. I got about 5 rides on it. The main problem with Phantom's Revenge is that the ride manufacturer is defunct. Arrow's coasters are a dying breed and the parts are hard if not impossible to come by.
The Steel Curtain was my first steel inversion coaster, should've rode skyrocket or phantom as my first steel coaster, but damn Steel Curtain had my pants moist (by the rain ofc) 😂
No maybe it wasn’t because of those reasons. Don’t worry, it happens to all of us… even Kenny The Kangaroo 😅
@@RMsteelerfan7 uhh I think you replied to the wrong comment? 😂
You hope I did haha…. But no, it’s directed right at you.
@@RMsteelerfan7 OOOH I understand what you mean now, I was just a tad bit confused 😅
hey not trying to ruin your theory but what i have to say about the lift hill is possibly it wasn’t the track but it could have been the chains because you said the rest of the track wasn’t giving vibrations or it could’ve been the trains because theh have been the same since 2009 and the green train was oit for a while and wasn’t even inside the station just some info to add to your theory
the lift motor was replaced and it seems the problem was fixed, so I guess it was the motor… the ride has been back open since about a day after this video was released.
I rode it today when it reopened lmao (it was for my sister’s school field trip so I was allowed to be there)
Is it any different on the lift? I’ve been hearing they fixed the lift vibration, and the lift sounds just a tad bit different now.
@@RMsteelerfan7 It didn’t feel any different to me tbh but that could be because I sat in the middle
Hopefully whatever was the issue is now fixed… but I’m sure it was fixed it the ride reopened, at least you would think.
@@RMsteelerfan7 I trust that they know how to take care of Phantom. Either way I was happy it was running lol

So phantom revenge and steel curtain are both down?
Yikes.
Nope! Thankfully it reopened literally the day after this video came out.
Another Great Vid!
Glad you enjoyed!
At least it is not closed all of next year I am going on it for the first time
Yeah this won’t be nothing long term. I’m hearing it’s already testing! So whatever the reason may have been for its initial closure, it’s most likely fixed!
I’m confused assuming your talking about curtain with the closed all of next year it’s only announced to be closed for this year not next year
Shoot Magnum XL in CP was mostly built over sand and has been sinking for decades and nothing has happened. That ride gets stuck going up the hill at least twice a day. Every park has problems all the time.
Wait, I was there and I didn’t get a free ticket. How / when did this happen?
You had to go up to the person who was positioned outside the ride and ask them about it, and if they felt like giving you a ticket (or you told them you weren’t a passholder, or somehow made them feel bad for you) then they would’ve gave you one.
They replaced the lift station and brake run track in 2011
That actually is false.
I’m going to Kennywood this week so I really hope that it’s open
opened back up a long while ago, have fun!
Thanks so much
@Roman-kj6yk yep!
@@RMsteelerfan7 ok
This is just a theory (heard it from the ride ops), but It’s not been if the rust for the vibrations, it’s the old maintenance dude screwed up, and now they’re waiting on parts because he ordered parts for steel phantom and not phantom’s revenge, because that vibration wasn’t there in 2022, that’s my theory, and the theory being passed around by the ride ops, but over all great video but that’s according to the ride ops, so yeah
Your story about the maintenance dude screwing up is false. Unless you have a valid source, this is fake.
I do, ask Cierra at phantom next time you go
(She’s a ride op)
Very good indeed
I’m going for a school trip next Friday…
This is not looking good
Don’t be worried! The ride actually reopened today coincidentally, and they announced it an hour after this video initially came out. It seems everything should be fine now.
Hope they get it fixed that would be their two main attractions and I'm from Pittsburgh
Good news, it’s fixed apparently. The ride reopened today. Don’t know what was fixed, but it’s back open!
@@RMsteelerfan7today is not Saturday😂
@@CoasterMovie the park was open for a school today, a private event… and phantom was open.
Phantom just reopened today
Good to hear! This video was in the works for about a week, and I typically upload on Friday’s… coincidentally they announced it would reopen JUST an hour after I uploaded this. Oh well, but it’s still an interesting debate here.
The vibration was really bad in October
Yeah when I rode in October I noticed it, it surely felt interesting… but from what I hear now it seems it’s all fixed.
When he mentioned it I do remember there was a vibration on a segment of the lift hill near the top. Rode it 6 times in October
Man, kennywood just might just not know how to make a steel coaster. Jk jk. But most of there steel coasters have problems and I barely hear about problems on the wooden coasters that are way older. And is the phantom running 2 trains? The green train should be done getting maintenance.
The ride is back open, green train is still no where in sight.
@@RMsteelerfan7 dang it
still open😊
Old video… it reopened shortly after this video was posted.
Thank God it’s still open I went to phantoms revenge and it was not close
That first drop was not retracked. It's original
You are mistaken. In 2009 it was retracked, along with everything up to the top of the second drop.
Via a post online someone described the reasoning behind it as “…during the 2009 season the top of the second hill had an unintentional, VERY abrupt bank to the right and an equally jarring leveling out as you started down the drop. During the following winter Kennywood had to go up there and do some serious welding to fix it in-house.” That is why it was retracked.
Noooo not phantoms revenge nooooooooo 😭😭😭
@@MasonMeyers-zd9yl It has been back open for months.
Oh
False and Fake. It is open. I rode it today, 5-12-2024. Stop spreading FAKE news !
Not fake, it was closed last week and Kennywood decided to reopen it just the day after the video went up. Did I not say in the video it could be open Saturday? Did I or did I not? You tell me sir.
@@RMsteelerfan7It is probably an employee
@@TotallyNotAPie haha I wouldn’t be surprised.
I went to kennywood a few weeks ago and it was closed
