Its funny that aussie said that the Aztec mythology comes from a region of low population density because exactly where the Aztec capitol used to be now resides Mexico City which has a population of near 9 million. I don't know if strategy games are popular in Mexico, but they definitely have a large population
Even in the past that wasn't true. Tenochtitlan, the Aztec capital that's now Mexico City, was one of the biggest cities in the world in its prime.
There's a very large Brazilian crowd in the AOM scene.
another thing is that the Aztecs really wouldn't fit the time frame of this game either
@@Zardichard AoM doesn't have a time frame. It has never pretended to be historically set - for instance the Norse are over a thousand years apart from the Egyptians, while the Atlanteans don't even exist outside of myth and pop culture.

I’m an old school try hard. I love the ease of use options they’ve given players now though! We need new people in the RTS scene and we need those people to not be overwhelmed immediately!

Relic: anvil of Hephaestus used to be -10% f/g for armory but now -50% gold. Much better.

the hydra when it gets more heads you can think it as a new unit it has its own attack but sharce body and healt so if he has 3 heads then it is like 3 units that share body and healt

As an experienced aom player who hasn’t yet tried this game, I’m guessing the 2 players who played this game are aoe players because it was played incredibly slow, aom is fast paced!
Yeah they were pretty bad
Poseidon one is definitely an AoE2 player because he defended the relic with his scout. That's a common move in AoE2 because scouts counter the relic collectors, monks. I don't think that works out for AoM, though, with all the hero units.
Aztecs/Mexica myths, which are indeed shared by many other Mesoamerican cultures would be cool. Andean (Inca) could work well too but I understand the Aztecs have more pop culture points and a bigger market starting by Mexico. I would like to see Babylon as an Ancient Near East civilization (or another that can work that way like Asyrians or Sumerians)
I've been watching streams from a couple of streamers and I can say that at this specific map with this type of lighting the readability is top notch, but on other maps where it's a bit darker where you have dusk type of vibe to it said darker type of lighting needs a bit of tweeking because there are some readability issues there. The rest is perfect.
Im so ready to dive in retold, watching all those casts to get to know the mechanics even though i played alot of aoe2
Why the name change? I liked Ulfsark.
They separated out the unit into two different types of unit, basically. One of which is a more specialised anti-cav, the other a more general purpose unit, whereas the ulf was mostly the latter and then later could become the former before.

The description you opened for the hydra said 30 hack damage. But during the game the hydra with 3 heads showed 90 damage. So i assume each head act independently with the same damage.

Hydras get 20x damage per head and go up to 5 heads.

I wonder why they went for a 20 year old engine for retold instead of diving into the aoe4 engine... still looking forward to trying it out

I played the game today before that I thought the same. After playing for a remake game the engine was the correct choice. It brings the nostalgia. If the used 4 engine it would not feel like a retold but a sequel to the og game

aoe2 Def edition, has just better ui and graphics than old aoe2.

I think it is the new Norse stable building, they added some more units and the. Added a building to house the cav options
Builds cav as well as hersirs. So you can more easily spam them without temples.
Cast Nakamura rts please. He's been on a 6+ game winning streak. Used to play AoM a shit ton. He streams.
Have to cast themista or iammagic if they come back too. They were top 2 players for as long as played, like 7+ years. Kimo was a top player too.

Are flying units overpowered in this game?
Nah, they're mostly sitting ducks. Great for scouting, but any ranged unit or building can hit them. There are some powerful late game flying units, like the Nidhogg (Norse dragon), but you can say the same for stuff on land in late game too. Probably the most useful flying unit is actually the Egyptian flying transport actually. Also all flying units cost Favor, as they're myth units.

I think the female voices came from the norse bersek units. Their thumbnail has a male and female soldier, so it makes sense, imo

@@diego2817 If you actually knew anything about Norse Mythology and history, you'd know that women were also involved in warfare. They reworked Ulfsak into Berserk who can be female and male.

because it would make my game stutter and sometimes crash.
workers would also sometimes just like, stop pathing when given an order. I'm enjoying the game but it has some bugs. The villager pathing also isnt the same used for military units. it feels completely different from aoe4.
