We are getting absolutely spoiled with this game. It looks like it will be SO much fun, very excited.
Age of mythology! this was one of my main go to games as a kid, played this with my mom when it first came out and then played my first multiplayer games in it when i was older, spent so many hours on custom maps and custom game modes, god is watching, settlers, castle, oh man this brings back memories
your mom played it? did you play it from 2 pcs or just 1 pc swapping?
@@asdfomfglol 2 PC's with LAN, only had the 1 disk but was able to do the old trick of starting the game up and taking the disk out and then starting the game up on the second computer. good times.
Same for me. The good old "Fair Settler 3v3 no vf no uw no ss no roc" and also Zelda 3v3 was amazing!

This was so much more fun to watch than an AoE game. So much more back and forth, and bug moments with god powers. Really fun to watch! Can't wait for release!

Really fun to watch! Been loving the beta tbh (apart from the voice acting in the campaign), all the improvements and QoL updates have been a real treat to discover. It feels so good to play AoM again after a long time. Really excited to see the new content too, like Freyr for the Norse, the new from-scratch Chinese, and whatever other new pantheon they have in the works

I found the AOM CD case in a old box last week, i wanted to play it but I don't have a CD player on my PC..
I went to look on steam and saw that the new version was going to be released, I was like crazy.

I find the fighting a bit slower than in AOE too if that makes sense, units last a bit longer?

Just a heads up. The scout unit can auto scout if you right click its ability.

Yeah this is deffo a classic game from back in the day soo happy it’s finally got a reboot ,, anyone remember a old rts it’s was like age of empires and was on pc and you could get engineers to mine under walls to collapse them you could also build massive castles and create army to attack them
To answer my own question it was called stronghold ,,, ohh man what a game !!!

I'm not sure, but I think in previous version Eclipse disabled other god powers for it's duration? I was surprised the fight turned out okay for you :D

I don't think I'll personally get into aom though, I really dislike not having a grid for buildings, just rubs my ocd the wrong way to pixel hunt for adjacent placements

what is the total population cap? i remember it used to feel too low back in the day
idk the cap, but in a co-op game I just did with a friend I got it to 205.
It used to be 300 but you needed a lot of extra town centers to get there
The pop cap is definitely higher in Retold
You can build 16 houses instead of ten so it's up from base 160 to base 220 without extra TC
i know this is the first game he play in ages and its a beta so hes testing stuff... stil, this was such a pain of a game to watch

In ranked it seems auto queue for villagers is enabled , not for the military however.
You can enable military auto queue in single player and custom matches
why give up you have so many barracks just train units..

There are things that don't look good like the UI, god portraits and some other stuff thats true. Yet units, buildings, terrain etc. look very similar to the original style but a lot more detailed.
I wish they went with the aoe4 engine for this game. It looks a little dated.

I agree with this to an extent. The gameplay of AoM was always very weird compared to the AoE games, and AoE4 is so tight that it would have been awesome, but it probably would have required a complete rework.

I'm not impressed with the graphics. Is this a remaster or a complete overhaul? I would've liked for more modern graphics like AOE4. It's just so unpleasant to the eyes it makes me like it less. But the gameplay does look good

Modern graphics like AOE4? There's nothing special about them. In fact, the whole community disliked AOE4 graphics when the game was announced. It's hard for a RTS to impress, awesome graphics in a game that puts so much stuff in the screen at once is just hard to balance, we don't want fps drop.
The gameplay looks just as weird and janky as the original AoM was compared to any of the AoE games too. The graphics are remastered but it won't make the game more "playable." haha
why does age of mythology look so cheap at least compared to aoe4

Am I the only one who thinks that this game can give WAAAY MUCH MORE then what we get. For me it looks almost exactly the same like the original (small graphics updates) but they didn't bother even to upgrade the way units move, interact or any of that. They put in few features that are for oldtimers who have problems with attention spawn (or altzhimer) so you get auto units produced. Beside that EVERYTHING feels the same. I am not buying this one until it gets on discount for 5$ or 10$, because it feels that it's worth that much. If developers gave more into it, I would get it for full price.
-Trolls throw boulders as a special attack.
-Centaurs fire a volley for an area of effect attack.
-Ox Carts are constructed by gatheres instead of taking up Town Center time.
-Ares grants an upgrade that provides access to Hypaspists in Classical age.
-Egypt's Monuments grants additional benefits based on which major God you pick.
-Norse have access to 2 additional units to flesh out army composition.
-Ballista now actually does its job at countering human units.
-Attack move now works properly.
-Units generally don't block each other during combat.
-Neutral Hunt pushes your Ox carts around for some reason.
Those are just the things I remember off the top of my head.
it was a remaster not a new game. I agree though on the price its stupid for a 2nd remake of the same game. Also all the QoL updates are just from the xbox version of AoE 4
Yes I do understand it's remaster, but if you are remastering it for this price, it better live up to todays games standards, not just a fraction of what it can be. For me (and most of my friends) this game is in best case "meh" (at current state). @@swimming6367
