Haitians keep pushing this narrative where we are the evil bad guys, but they don't tell you all the help the Dominican Republic has given to them, just to name a few:
-Nearly between 80% to 90% of agricultural and construction labor in the DR are haitians.
-According to data almost 50% of child births in the public healthcare system belong to haitian mothers(they don't have to pay is totally free).
-When the 2010 earthquake happened we were the first country there and we also gave the most medical assistant to all the wounded people.
-There are more than 100k haitian kids in the public school system(totally free)
-Along all the donations we have given away, we also built an entire university for them.
And i could continue for a long go, but that won't matter since ungrateful people(like a lot of the folks leaving their comments here) have no memory for that.
They say we are racist, but they did an ethnic cleansing on both whites and mulattoes during their revolution.
They say we are evil and they are inocent, but hundreds of dominicans are victims of haitian wrong doings every year: farmers, entire families, and even kids have lost their lives or have been assaulted by haitians.
They say we keep them oppressed and don't want them to develop, well i have news for yall, we DO want you to progress and develop as a nation (even if its to remove ourselves the burden of having an ever unstable neighbour) we really do, but not at the expense of surrendering our natural resources like rivers and forest, which you already destroyed your owns and now want to take away ours, we won't let that happen even if you build your canal we will just deviate the water on the upstream, so there is no point in trying to steal our natural resources.
I just wish, haitians put at least half the effort and unity they are putting on building this canal, to stop all the gangs that terrorize their own people and to elect good leaders that drive them to prosperity, but well i think is just easier to play the victim and blame everyone else for your disgrace...

They didn’t accept how the OAS did it. The OAS flew to DR and came to the border with a Dominican delegation, then violated Haiti’s airspace with the Dominican delegation to fly over the canal.
However, an OAS delegation did meet with the Haitian chancellor later on in Port au Prince and went over the technical stuff about the canal.
