I can say that a good person that really make an AK talk. He has mastered it with all shapes and sizes. Keep on Sonny. Teach us what they taught you in Spetsnaz. I salute you.
Thanks sonny for your contributions to the Tactical Community. I own a few of your DVD's and gained some good knowledge on the Kalashnikov System and employing it to your advantage. Especially in an Ueban Enviroment. I served 5 yrs in the Army and we had shot some AK systems and I was very impressed with that system. Different philosophy of use for that type of caliber. But definetly effective. Alot of people say its inaccurate, but some dont understand it and use it correctly yet demonize it
Sonny Puzikas rocks! He is knowledgeable, respectful, wise and well versed in weapon platforms/combat tactics. Anyone who says otherwise is severely lacking knowledge.
Sonnys a good dude...he is a top notch instructor..I enjoy my time training with him.. October 13 & 14th I'm hosting him in San Antonio, Texas,......get some!
Ahhh.... From the mouth of an expert. Love it. So happens that Travis is my friend and has invited me to teach AK portion for Disruptive Environments course. So that is that. Your expert opinion is greatly appreciated of course.
Just watched this DVD yesterday. Best AK video I've seen. I will have to see it many times to gain the full benefit; it's chock full of good stuff. Very little fluff.
This man is the real deal, no question about it. You only have to watch and listen to him for a short time to to see his experience and training shine through.
Sonny Puzikas you are the man... love your video.. love your tactics... if your ever in miami fl.. please contact me.. i would love to sit down and have dinner.. talk about your tactics... thanks and please keep teaching...
Sonny, if you ever head down to the Tampa Bay area, there are a lot of people in the Dojang I work at and elsewhere that would attend a workshop/seminar.
Sonny,. What you explain to do when handling an assault rifle is right. You also teach when it is appropriate to use vs when it is not aporopriate to use.
@wcropp1 cartridges with thinner, cannelured copper jackets and lead cores, the 5.45 would almost undoubtedly fragment more easily than 5.56. Either way, though, any yawing cartridge is quite deadly. These days you can also get projectiles in many calibers that do not typically yaw that are designed to fragment (open/hollow/ballistic tip), somewhat closing the gap between yawing and non-yawing cartridges.
One thing not elaborated here but clearly demonstrated by Mr. Puzikas is that you do your reload right in front of your face and look downrange at all times.
You can get most of the AKs in this video in the UK, but no semi-auto, only straight-pull manual cycling. You probably already knew this though. I always say, there are probably still tons of AKs, FALs, Enfields, and whatever else buried across the backyards of many an Irish home.
Sonny was Spetz......my first rifle class was with him...... Hooked after that. He also got to do some technical help and model for one of the call of duty games......
My AK didn't come with a sling swivel mount and I'm thinking of mounting it the way you mount it instead of the typical way. Also, the tube for the cleaning kit is in the bottom half, so I don't think I can mount it the typical way as the screw will go into the tube.
This guy's startin to go places. He was on deadliest warrior, and now he's gonna help to develop call of duty black ops. I guess that means a Cold war game then?
Im in the Irish Defence Forces and was wondering if Mr. Puzikas would have any tips on quicker reloads with a bull-pub rifle layout such as the Steyr AUG we use?
I was wondering; When charging the weapon after the reload, what is the reason to go under and hook the charging handle with your index finger instead of going over the top, bringing your arm perpendicular to the weapon and bending your fingers over to charge it? It seems the latter would be quicker, but most people do the former.
Sonny Puzikas seems like an interesting guy to talk to, probably even a nice guy. But also, he seems to be one of the scariest individuals I have ever seen. You either want to be on his good side or him to feel indifferent toward you. That man is one person Id hate to piss off.
Yeah, it appears to have 14mm threads. Normally an AK-105 would have the 24mm threaded combo sight block/gas block. The one in the video appears to have an aftermarket or bolt-on combo block without threads. The muzzle device is attached to the muzzle, not the combo block. I believe this video was made before Arsenal started bringing in the SLR series that includes the SLR-105CR and SLR-107CR. You can just buy this type of rifle off the shelves now, but still requires NFA to get 12.5" barrel.
interesting vid, i like that he presents the "Afghani reload" as an option, i feel covering all the bases is important even if the tactic's effectiveness might be in question
05:45 I have to say that I would not try that unless instructed on it properly. Is that something you were taught, something you learned on your own and perfected or is it something that you stumbled on and wanna see who tries it?
These dvd's look very helpful. I play airsoft with an AKM ,and while shooting is very different, the reloads and the transitions look like something I should be able to do. Not that anything I do for recreation even holds a candle to what Sonny does, but I appreciate the tips anyway.
@@jakeh6980 It is way to teach Youth very basics of combat and training to then transition into military. You cannot shoot other moving targets the same way paper targets will not shoot back. Of course it translates only to real experience but it is not meant to be real combat.
Sonny is former Spetsnaz (GRU? I saw on one of his videos an emblem of that unit with bat, i think its recon ), theres only few kinds of people that can compare with him: Other Spetsnaz Operatives or other special forces/ intelligence operatives from the best armies, i mean, Spetsnaz is one serious thread, only the best could compare with them. SAS, US Spec Ops (SEALS, Green Berets, CIA SAD) or Chinese Spec ops. I mean, did You saw his push ups? Man, i couldn't make single one like he did.
Lack of communication is correct. He didn't check to see if the house was clear and the instructor didn't put up a flag or something to show that someone is down range. Both ends are at fault. I can't prove that's he's former Spetsnaz and you can't prove that he isn't. I'm giving the benefit of the doubt.
Are you serious? You can pretty much use the techniques with every rifle. Obviously, some have features others don't, but besides that, most techniques are universal. AK-wise, most models don't really vary much, besides slightly different internals and furniture, so it works just fine with almost every AK variant.
While i understand alot of views on this issue. Mistakes do happen and its unfortunate . No one wants to shoot another person especially in a training enviroment. It is serious and we can only learn from it. It also depends on what type of training you do and the experience of others around you. I still support Puzikas " no safety, empty weapon" training philosophy( which is more advanced training not entry level)but those around you must be on an advanced level.
actually this guy is former spetznaz which is the elite of the elite of Russia. Where there is less than 1 percent in the Rusian SpecOps program. This guy not only had 5 strict solid straight months of training with the AK but he had combat experience as well as a Spetznaz Operator. I believe he could Teach Travis Haley about the Kalashnikov Weapons Platform systems as well as any other Russian Weapons system and Teach him how to knock out Tactical Nuclear Silos. The guy knows what hes doing.
5.45 cause more internal damage. So it's better at destroying the insides of your enemy than the 7.62 which will more likely just punch through the enemy, like it does to cinder blocks. Choice, depends on the mission. The majority of the Russian military uses 5.45 now, if that helps you decide.
@Shinakumiatsu been looking at some i saw a bulgarian Ak74 for a good price looking to get that its parkarized looks badass lol also saw some reviews on youtube
Hey are you him? Because when you flicked off the Green Berets in deadliest warrior that was fucking hilarious as shit. As former active duty US Marine i fully approve of that kind shit. Competition is everything.
i'm here to add i ain't key board warrior, and no no offence Sonyy u do what u have to do. , god be with u guys. and yes sonny i wouldn't say it to ypur face
The best taste in music of any known operator.
Truth.

I love it. Old school, simple tactics, used with very basic and relatively inexpensive gear.
sonny puzikas.....he's on the top of my list of badasses...
Nothing but sheer respect for you Sir.....Bravo..
This guy is cool! He plays Damageplan with Dime on guitar and Vinny on drums! 🤘

I respect sony more than anyone I know
I both love and fear the Spetsnaz. Respect!

Awesome fav 5/5
All of those Magazine changes look cool as well as fluid and I always did wonder why some of the magazines were taped together in opposite directions.
Sonny, if you ever head down to the Tampa Bay area, there are a lot of people in the Dojang I work at and elsewhere that would attend a workshop/seminar.

Thanks for your response. After I saw a bunch of his videos I learned he is Russian living in the US

Saw Sonny in the movie Daylights End doing his moves...
I’m just here, 2021 after the capitol was breeched. 👋🏻 stay safe all

I WANT TO MEET THIS MAN . I'M IN LOVE WITH HIS MIND .....
in the immortal words of bruce lee regarding tactical training: paper targets dont shoot back!
The hyper tactical belt made of webbing and two D-rings rocks.
05:45 I have to say that I would not try that unless instructed on it properly. Is that something you were taught, something you learned on your own and perfected or is it something that you stumbled on and wanna see who tries it?
You can permanently attach the flash hider adding length to the barrel making it non NFA.

Why don’t you just shoot actual firearms instead of wasting time playing airsoft?

@vegasbob007 Not really. Stopped making and distributing it somewhere around 2007... Sometimes used copy pops up on some forums, but goes quick...

this is that spetsnaz guy on that weaponology show on the military channel
I love you sonny
I couldn't decide, so I done the only logical thing. I got both :-)
Love the Ak
what syle of helmit does the speznaz use? I have seen two models, one has titanuim plates, but covers less surface area and the other covers more.
Machine head ftw :)
@wyrdundvolk well said Marine. I agree 100 per fucking cent. Army combat veteran here.

The 5:33 reload in my opinion is a liability for 99% of us. Mr. Puzikas makes it look too damn easy.
you cant change a nick/account-name, but i think that if you mail YT tech support, they might do something
@88warwolf You forgot to tell us, which buttons are you pressing: XYAB or ■▲x●?
guess i'll have to take an AK class now xD
long time since you've come to Belgium (for Systema in this case)
I noticed it's #2 an that's all i see on your website, can ya tell me how to find #1 Beyond the Firearm? big thanks love the info,
Is Sonny (Saulius) Puzikas Lithuanian? If so, then best wishes from Vilnius, Lithuania.

@gospelofviolence Do you got yer own range out there in Dallas?
Do you know any one armed mag changes in the event that you support arm is injured?
Any chance of buying your first DVD.
