AKnowledge- Essentials about AK magazines

  • Things AK owners need to know about their freedom seeds storing devices. What to look for, what to avoid. This isn’t for collectors, geeks and dabblers- it’s information meant for owners/users. I intentionally excluded some devices (drums, 50/60 round magazines, as well as 10/20/25 rounders) from the conversation.

    I know you're thinking "how is a magazine video 30mins"? Because it's that good. Tremendous information here. 🏴‍☠️

      NutinFancy should take notes. That guy should be sponsored by Adderall the way he jumps around and changes subjects in his videos all the time. Five minutes of information in a forty-five minute video.

    Former US Army Light Infantry Squad Leader in a Long range Reconnaissance and Surveillance platoon.
    20 magazines was our combat load. Yes. 600 rounds + a claymore, 40mm grenades, frags, and at least 100, usually 200 rounds of 7.62 NATO linked for an M60.
    No one is coming to help you. Guys have no idea how quickly they'll burn through ammo in a firefight. It's a matter of life and death for a small unit to be able to deliver ferocious, accurate, and overwhelming firepower instantly on contact.
    Violence of action saves lives.

    The magazine at 8.10 with steel reinforcement all around is US Palm. That's probably the only commercial polymer mag with thick, steel reinforced feeding lips.

    I just run my surplus steel mags now. They are very robust and have given me few problems over the years. All my bakelite mags are basically relegated to storage as investments now since the value of them has shot to the moon. Excellent info as always. I'll be incorporating your Dremel recommendation to eliminate the false lip. Thanks for that little pearl of wisdom. 🤟😎

    I bought my first Circle 10 magazine and was super excited when it finally arrived in the mail only to quickly become disappointed when it was too big to fit my Wasr 10/63. I'm going to try and file a little bit of the mag and hope it locks in.

    The only mag I have a little trouble with in my rifle is a surplus Croatian mag I have. I can’t figure out what it is but if I don’t hit it just right it will snag. If I get it right it locks in nice and snug but it’s unlike any other steel mag I have. All my other Russian or Bulgarian steel mags go right in no problem. But of course the Russian ones would right? LOL

    Honest and straight to the point! I love that you don’t bullshit and give honest straight answers. I’ve had questions about Kalashnikov ak magazines whether it’s the price or product materials or even simply availability. Every video you post gives me another step up towards a whole new vast level of knowledge I would have most likely never knew without you discussing with us so I thank you for spending the time to help us all out!
    Quick question:
    What chest rig do you use? For example, in daylights end I recognized the 2 piece uniform you were wearing but don’t know the chest rig you were wearing. I liked it for the simplicity and size as well as the color too.

    • @gospelofviolence
      @gospelofviolence  10 месяцев назад +4

      I have numerous rigs- from old nostalgic Soviet ones (one of them you saw in “Daylights End”- that one is called “livchik”- the bra), to modern western custom jobs. Reality is- unless we get into prolonged warfare state here in US- for most situations you won’t have neither time, opportunity nor need to use one…

  • @topfeedcoco
    @topfeedcoco 10 месяцев назад +3

    Yeah the ProMags sucked for my 7.62 and I gave em all away. I tend to stick with the steel mags, eastern bloc even with skinny rib, they run flawlessly (for me) and are cheap, but almost always have robust springs that don't shy from being left loaded for years straight

    Call me fortunate … I made a solid trade with a 10th mountain buddy. 10 bakelites and 500 rounds for a good Bowie and an 870 ( of which I had 3 ) …. A squared away deal. Solid video Sonny.

    What is the significance of blue tape or red tape at the base plate of your ak mags?

    I will pay the price for quality fighting magazines. I have plenty but I still buy more when I see them. A professional mechanic usually will pay the price for the quality tool. You have to ask what is your life worth if you have catastrophic failure. Train with cheap magazine or for target practice to save the good ones for combat. Great video!

    95% of all my Magazines are steel with the other 5% being Bulgarian for my 762x39. I recently even went to a 556 akm ( m90) and it came with a poly mag. I've been Buying up the steel m85 mags for my Serbian Babe and Love em.

    I have circle 10’s and 1 plum Bakelite for my 74, but my 47 hates most steel mags, but loves the polymers. i have mainly the steel caged Magpuls for it. They lock up positively and no wobble.
    But I haven’t done the 5ft drop test on them so that’s next I suppose. What are your thoughts on the magpuls? I wouldn’t trust the non steel reinforced ones at all.

    • @gospelofviolence
      @gospelofviolence  10 месяцев назад +2

      The issue could be bottom plate not being steel. Other than that from what I’ve seen in classes they seat well, feed reliably.
