( Very old ) news flash !! The road you drove by was named Camperdown to honour the major navel battle that took place on 11th October 1797. The action, with Admiral Adam Duncan, was against the Dutch fleet during the French Revolutionary War. The British sailed from their port at Great Yarmouth and returned victorious with their captured prizes to be met by great crowds waiting on the beach for a huge celebration.

Wow that’s great information, thank you. I’ll pin this comment so it stays at the top.
      Thank you MrJohn 🙌

When I make a follow up to this video, I’ll drive down Camperdown and include your information.
Did you know about the Castle ? Isn’t history fascinating. I’m taking up time traveling 😉

      @MrJohn768 Год назад

I think I heard that the castle foundations are under the Brunswick Hotel which is, as you said, in King's Street. ( I often wondered why there was a Duke St in Norwich...then of course I heard about the Duke Duh !! ) But, you might be interested to know that the first person employed as Custodian, to look after Nelson's Monument was Able Seaman James Sharman. James was with Nelson when he died and he gathered his Admiral's body up in his arms and carried him down to his cabin. Please call on me any time you feel the need for useless facts !! 😂😂😂

Vicks is applied and hopefully doing its thing. I’ll try anything.

I loved going to Yarmouth, I think it was 1968 the first time when I was a child and we saw Charge of the light brigade at the cinema. Been a few years since I was there, sometimes in the late 80s early 90s I used to go bed and breakfast for a few days and head off to the Broads fishing, usually at St Benets abbey. I keep thinking of coming for a few days as I could go and do some gravestone hunting for my family tree as my ancestors came from Norfolk.

thankyou for taking us for a drive in gt yarmuff, it looks like you've got a great view from your window , i'd love to know what the story was behind that guy doing the sumersault 😅 , hope your sciatica gets better soon xx

      Thank you Lori.
The sciatica is definitely better with each new day. Hasn’t gone but I can at least get about now.
I’m not sure about the somersaults ?
It was a fabulous view, just not long enough. I’ll have to book something else 😂

This may sound strange, but, my chiropodist told me that rubbing Vic on sciatica gives instant relief !! I don't have it myself - so I can't vouch for it, but it does help my restless leg syndrome. May be worth a try ? Hello Lori 👍

@@MrJohn768 ohhhh that’s interesting, thank you. I’ve used Deep Freeze gel, Ibruprofen gel and Voltarol so far. A tens machine, hot water bottle and painkillers!! I’m getting there , it’s definitely nothing like it was on Friday. I actually made it outside today. Decided the real world was far too exhausting and went back to bed 😂. I don’t know what the loud snap I heard and felt yesterday in my leg was, but goodness it’s been so much better since that happened.
Thank you for your advice, I’m off to find the Vicks. I know where it is. 😀

If only we could time travel back to those days. The closest to doing that is to look at old postcards . I love local history. I had no idea there used to be a Castle.
I’m pleased you enjoyed this video, thank you. Should I make another? There are still so many places to film.

Lovely view of the beach and the sea Lisa, a lovely enjoyable break for you. I was only taken to Great Yarmouth once when I was quite young but I still remember being taken to see, through a long glass window, sticks of rock being made.

      Docwra’s on Regent Road ?
It was a lovely few days away, always goes so quickly though.
When you just see sea and ships, you could be anywhere. There’s a theme though, I’m always beside water. x

@@NewnameSameme I wish I could remember but I do remember peering through the window and being fascinated at the whole process😀. I hope the sciatica has eased but if not try an osteopath, they worked wonders for Mac, such a relief as it’s very painful 😣

I believe the "cardboard making business" you mentioned on South Denes was 'Hartmann Fibre', they used to make egg boxes, fruit packaging, cardboard boxes etc...
I remember from 5 a.m. onwards, I would hear the chatter from below my bedroom window at the 'Ferryboat Inn', as throngs of workers made their way down to the foot ferry from Gorleston, across the river to start the early shifts at 6 a.m. at the 'Birds Eye' and 'Hartmann Fibre' factories...
Back in those days, 'during the mid/late seventies' the first things I would see, after opening the curtains in the morning and looking across the river were... Nelson's Monument, the 'Birds Eye' factory, the huge 'Power Station' with towering brick chimney and the painted 'alpine scene' atop the Pleasure Beach roller coaster...
Enjoy your deserved rest in Gt. Yarmouth Leasa. Today, here in Essex, it's been a beautiful sunny day, but the north easterly wind coming straight off the North Sea was absolutely freezing, resulting in this mornings dog walk being slightly shorter than normal, to avoid frostbite!... 🥶

Hartmann Fibre , that’s it, well done Andy, thank you.
It’s certainly turned colder these last couple of days.

Good old Yarmouth...not a bad place....and like you said...it's a change of scenery..a break... something we all need now and again....also.... you if you're on autofocus you should try manual focus and turn the focus ring see if thats makes a difference.....!!!!

It’s the bridge into Yarmouth bedside asda and railway station. There’s a memorial stone beside the river close to white Swan Pub.

Sorry to hear you are unwell Lisa. Your comments in the Malthouse broad video make sense now. I imagine bed rest is just about the worst form of torture for an active lady like yourself. Don't worry if you can't get a video out. Take care and get well soon Lisa.

Thank you Richard. You’re right, I’m usually out every day in all weathers. Sciatica has really got me though. (Before this the dog bite !)
Lots of people far worse than me though. I’ve been to the doctors and have been given strong painkillers….. I can’t say they take away the pain though. I must be right for February as that’s when Richardson’s have some boats out.
This will go in time, a minor set back.
Have a good week, hope you do t get snow ❄️
