  • Ah E370, you're big and beautiful. But the much smaller Natural Gate from Rabid Elephant is beautiful too. I've lost a fair amount of time to both units independently and together. Both sound and function really nicely so here's a video with them both (I have another one to come too).
    The E370 here is in the chord mode with the first 3 oscillators using notes from the chord table and the fourth oscillator is totally independent. The oscillators are in the cloud mode with morphing wavetables and modulating spread/detune amounts. I'm also making use of the on board mixer on the E370 mixing the first three oscillators out of the first output, which is really handy.

    Everyday day I wake up and hope today is the day the Natural Gate second batch is released. I serious think I’m going to get doubles.

    Should i upgrade from my E352? The HP real estate is something that i would have to think about. but the added features seems really nice.

    Would be interesting to see and hear how the E370 goes with the SSSR Kotelnikov and the SM 630.
    Also when the world is reviving the cold war, It's interesting to see these two USA and Russian companies working in the same corner of the rack so to speak.
    I think it sounded a bit Asian in the beginning and also the rest would be nice for a chill out lounge at Goa : )

      They're all great modules. The E370 as complex as the tones are is rather tame and beautiful. So mixing that with filters/folders/shapers is fantastic. It's also nice offset against other voices playing other patterns or in unison.

      Goa chill out usually consists of some mellow pad sounds and endless "hare krishna, hare ram.." prayers.

    isnt that natural gate sort of the same thing as Rings only theres two in one??

    • @nutritionalyeast7978
      @nutritionalyeast7978 6 лет назад +1

      NO, ITS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THING. NATURAL GATE IS TWO LPGS, RINGS IS AN ARRAY OF RESONANT BANDPASS FILTERS. THE LPGS DO REALLY SOUND LIKE PHYSICAL MODELLING SYNTHS WITH SOME INPUTS THO HEY

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  6 лет назад +1

      Hey you too, 'nutritional' is right. Although some sounds are potentially similar they are very different. Rings is resonator aiming to create sounds such a vibrating string, struck drum or sheet of metal etc. The Natural Gate is an LPG / Low Pass Gate which controls the amplitude and frequency content of the input signal. So rather than a VCA that would just control the level an LPG couples an (often non resonant) low pass filter with a subtle slope usually one pole or 6dB roll off with the amplitude control. So as the sound gets quieter it also gets duller. Which is a very natural affect as that's how we perceive sounds at distances.

      so a more advanced Optomix x 2 =-)

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  6 лет назад +1

      more advanced but not an interface that isn't immediate or suffers in anyway for those extra features.

      them power cables they have for it are a little weird huh, why do you supposed they didnt do that part like everyone else??

    So how does the natural gate compare to MI streams ? Obviously streams has no cv control over decay, but what about the sound ?

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  6 лет назад +3

      Natural Gate does have a different tone the switch to adjust the over shape/response/transient is very nice. Tonally Streams feels a bit more Neutral but it offers the option to change how the filter and VCA sections work and of course Streams does a tonne of other stuff too. Personally I go to Streams for the wider options Natural Gate for sound and overall feel.

      Damn i hate streams honestly. It's doing too much and the range in the env shape is terrible. NG is analogggggggg

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  6 лет назад

      Streams is analogue. Analogue filter and analogue VCA. Just digital control over it. Striking the bonus LPG mode doesn't have that same shape as the envelope generation modes. But of course the NG is great :)
