if yall wondering why the beat sounds so irregular in HOE, it's because the beat time signature is more 6/8, while peggy and danny are rapping in 4/4, which is why the beat and rapper's rhythm sound strange against each other but somehow work.

This album is amazing. The production, lyrics, creativity, and the consistency on this album is on point. I got this as album of the year over Skyzoo’s album simply because the production on this album is just special. I don’t listen to experimental music regularly but this album was awesome.

The Jack Harlow sell y’all chicken line from Danny is super deep! If you really think about the whole mainstream industry giving attention to Jack Harlow music and acting like what he’s doing is different when it’s really not because so many other artists either do the same or even better than him but don’t get that same attention and popularity. His chicken costs more but it’s dry and has nothing to it as compared to a lot of other artists who don’t get any notoriety and Danny saying that is the most subtle way to say just a whole lot about Jack Harlow as a artist believe it or not with that one line! This is definitely album of the year for me so far, NO MISSES FOR ME FROM BEGINNING TO END! He dropped 2 projects in 2021 and both made my end of the year list. He has a great pulse on quality control - he hasn’t dropped a bad project yet imo so i don’t think it’s any reason to worry. Unrelated, but I’m reviewing the GAT by Mach Hommy this week or next week which i think is his best album…it was his 8th album of that year 😂

Yeah i noticed I missed several too…I blame the mixing haha. So glad they collabed. JPEGMAFIA had a video of them hanging out together talking about music, but nothing ever came out of it - not even a song - so glad they circled back. Danny brown came back sounding good after a pretty long hiatus (well at least from rapping).

One, I’ve heard every Peggy and every Danny album and this literally the only one with mixing issues lol so comparing it to Cole is disingenuous. 2, they’ve changed the mix both in bandcamp and streaming so they’ve pretty much acknowledged that it can be improved. Then lastly, it basically just comes down to Danny brown is hard to hear. It’s rap - so if you can’t hear the raps well b/c of the the mixing, it ain’t a good mix point blank period. Album still amazing tho and they actually took steps to fix it so I respect it
I do think the mix was made better when they updated the album. Only song I find it hard to hear danny on is. Where ya get ya coke from? Which I still love the song a lot though.
Yeah I got a ton of respect to Danny and Peggy for listening to feedback cus they fixed that within days. The mixing ain’t perfect on every song but it’s day and night better - I especially notice it on garbage pale kids which is my fav song from this.

Yeah facts, out of all the albums that I’ll check out in a year, it’s typically only 1 or 2 that feel like “experiences”. It might not even be the best album of the year but they’re albums that make you actually feel something. Like last year it was Little Simz’s No Thank You. Atrocity Exhibition and Veteran fall in that category too for me. But this album was the one that did it for me this year!

This album is amazing. The production, lyrics, creativity, and the consistency on this album is on point. I got this as album of the year over Skyzoo’s album simply because the production on this album is just special. I don’t listen to experimental music regularly but this album was awesome.

The Jack Harlow sell y’all chicken line from Danny is super deep! If you really think about the whole mainstream industry giving attention to Jack Harlow music and acting like what he’s doing is different when it’s really not because so many other artists either do the same or even better than him but don’t get that same attention and popularity. His chicken costs more but it’s dry and has nothing to it as compared to a lot of other artists who don’t get any notoriety and Danny saying that is the most subtle way to say just a whole lot about Jack Harlow as a artist believe it or not with that one line! This is definitely album of the year for me so far, NO MISSES FOR ME FROM BEGINNING TO END! Whole ass adventure and was scared the whole time thank you Jpeg and Danny 🙌🏾 and thank you for this fire ass reaction I was laughing and smiling all the way through

This album is like 99% outlandish, funny lines, so I think it's projecting a bit to say he's going into deep industry analysis without any other context of that in the song. I think it's just safe to assume he's making fun of the aesthetic of using jack Harlow to market some chicken to black people lol.
But yeah sick album for sure!! I've been going back and forth with this and Skyzoo's The Mind of a Saint for AOTY so far. Both of them are great start to finish and cohesive, but it feels like comparing apples to oranges with how different they are . We'll see where I land by the end of the year!

@@frankoceanlover56 man I used to feel the same way, but it’s so many people who put out a ton of projects that 3 doesn’t even feel like a big deal anymore. He dropped 2 projects in 2021 and both made my end of the year list.
He has a great pulse on quality control - he hasn’t dropped a bad project yet imo so i don’t think it’s any reason to worry.
Unrelated, but I’m reviewing the GAT by Mach Hommy this week or next week which i think is his best album…it was his 8th album of that year 😂

He takes the weirdest, and sometimes unlikable, sounds and somehow turns it to gold. He’s the most underappreciated artist in hip hop atm for me (along with Zel). He’s so talented.

Yeah i noticed I missed several too…I blame the mixing haha. So glad they collabed. JPEGMAFIA had a video of them hanging out together talking about music, but nothing ever came out of it - not even a song - so glad they circled back. Danny brown came back sounding good after a pretty long hiatus (well at least from rapping).

Yo I can’t even lie - what Danny said is a huuuuge cop out for a couple reasons. One, I’ve heard every Peggy and every Danny album and this literally the only one with mixing issues lol so comparing it to Cole is disingenuous.
2, they’ve changed the mix both in bandcamp and streaming so they’ve pretty much acknowledged that it can be improved.
Then lastly, it basically just comes down to Danny brown is hard to hear. It’s rap - so if you can’t hear the raps well b/c of the the mixing, it ain’t a good mix point blank period. Album still amazing tho and they actually took steps to fix it so I respect it
I do think the mix was made better when they updated the album. Only song I find it hard to hear danny on is. Where ya get ya coke from? Which I still love the song a lot though.
Yeah I got a ton of respect to Danny and Peggy for listening to feedback cus they fixed that within days. The mixing ain’t perfect on every song but it’s day and night better - I especially notice it on garbage pale kids which is my fav song from this.
