this album surprised me so much. I didn't think I'd like it at all, and within a week after it came out it became my most listened to album of the last year and that sample peggy used on the last track is one of my favorite moments in music, ever. it's fucking insane and so crazy
@@JJJackson777 Yea I love Injury but in my opinion self titled isn't that good. BTTIGTP is insane, floss is very good but they aren't the same energy and sample fliping abilities as Peggy does, but Parker does insane beats LMAO.
One of the best things that has come from Kevin's journey into hip-hop is that he now recognizes Lil Wayne's influence on rapping about pussy. The God.
I totally am the same about feeling hypnotized by experimental stuff like this and deathgrips, it kind of registers as white noise and I can sleep to it
I love how much this album has grown on me, like after several listens in, I am able to see the true beauty and utter greatness of each song, even on the shortest track, Run The Jewels, where I am LOVING the nastiness of the saxophone or trumpet that's played, then the opening and closing tracks that originally I saw as the weakest parts, have felt and become more and more fitting when I listen to it, a perfect representation of a grower, not a show'er
Great reaction. I can vouch for the hype of a live show, I saw Peggy in 2021 only a few days before he dropped his last album (LP!) and it was phenomenal. Just him and a laptop lmao. But he can do so much with just that. Highly recommend seeing him live if y’all get the chance!
If redveil interested you at all from his verse on Kingdom Hearts Key, I highly recommend you listen to Niagara by him some time soon, so glad you did this so soon
Immediate standout was Danny on orange juice Jones, biggest parts that have grown on me are the jpeg verse on jack Harlow combo meal and all of Fentanyl Tester. I've loved Jpeg since veteran and Danny since Old.. so crazy to see their evolution 🧬, combination 🧩 and continued growth as I get older w all these people I started listening to early in high school
I love the album and the shout out to Run the Jewels. EL-P's record Cancer 4 Cure was how I discovered Danny Brown. Wait have you not done Run the Jewels with your dad yet?!?
After you do reactions, you should have a follow up review videos. Each of you comes with their pros, cons and other notes. You discuss and then at the end give your ratings. That would be cool imo
Based on how much the dad likes the sampling, production, and live performance, y'all shoud listen to J Dilla's albums. a historical GOAT of sampling with wonderful artistry and performance.
Would love to see your take on Nothing but Thieves!! Either thier self titled or broken machine album, they've got a new album out soon and would love to hear your comparison when that gets released The lead singer has such a unique voice I'm sure you guys will love to experience
Just discovered the channel and watching through videos now. Love the content so far. I think it'd be dope to see your guy's reaction to "Ajai" by Serengeti and definitely more JPEGMAFIA content
When I saw JPEGMAFIA live a while ago he didn’t have a DJ, just him and his MacBook, he’d walk over to the computer to play the next song before going crazy and it was one of the best shows ever. Sweatiest man I’ve ever seen
the album was entirely made in a SP 404, which is really interesting because they both talked about how different it was for 90's producers who didn't had access to the amount of tools we have today with a DAW, so peggy took it as a challenge, and goddamn he killed it
What’s absolutely insane to me is that this album technically could have been made in the 90s. It sounds so futuristic and unique that it’s hard to imagine that Peggy used old tech to make it.
kinda hurt to hear that garbage pail kids didn't leave that strong of an impression since it's one of my favorites on the album, but it does make sense. i only hope you guys continue to listen to it & that the track grows on y'all the way it did me
fun fact about the album: there is not 56 seconds of this album without some sort of beat switch and there's over 30 of them I believe.
And not a single one feels unnatural or forced. It flows so well
The first 2:16 of HOE is the same beat.
That’s crazy
yeah, usually they’re so subtle that they change the vibe but the idea of the song is the same. So amazing
orange juice jones?
Man I love Garbage Pale Kids so much those growly guitars are so nice.
NIN NIN
As a garbage pale kid, myself, it captures the feeling of being one perfectly.
That's peggy playing too
that's my favourite track just because of the beat
I love the sample in the back, it was used perfectly
so impressive how little each song sounds to each other. they made something completely unique each track
Entire worlds in each track fr
The project as a whole is still cohesive too which is wild.
the funniest part is that this is the most sonically cohesive peggy project imo lol
@@quemf222DSS and TGPT are probably more sonically cohesive
