I’ve been a subscriber since you and Tatters canoed by my confluence at the Missouri River north St. Louis.. and have tried daily on your adventure since.. as your well aware.. stay strong..!!!
Nice half day still , here in Europe "monsoon-level" rain . No more hiking this year for us sadly . Feel the sadness for your meals but glad there were no complaints about the foot ! Keep it on.
The ugh moments... fortunate to run into sharing folks, snicker bar after a number of days out is like a bar of gold... although you may not feel the same.( 🍫 L- tryptophan to assist with pain threshold ,peanuts 🥜 protein, etc,) Old school
I was wondering what the title Mess on the Mesa was about before I started to watch, and then about 2/3 of the way in, it was really clear (tho the sky was not). What a tough day! Bummer. Way to keep a decent attitude about it all.
Sounding rough at the end there, hoping your not getting that sickness that’s been going around a few weeks. Just a bad cold but it seems like it got everyone in Missouri!
Speaking of rain and mud, be glad you're not on the AT trying to go SOBO, it's a total and literal disaster. It's been told to hikers to consider the entire bottom 1/3 of the trail to be closed per the ATC. Basically, everything Damascus, VA and south is basically impassable with trail towns devastated, and trail bridges gone due to flooding. I've been enjoying your scenery, and your hike!
Yea, I saw that. Crazy the damage that happened there. I saw something from the ATC saying the bottom 870 some miles should basically be considered closed
@@TXMEDRGRit’s been a fun ride. Picking my way through back roads and even some trails. All via google maps…found some great areas. Some of the images are old, but majority are current.
Mashed potatoe woes would pale should you run low on the true nectar of life - no not Aquavit - coffee. ☕️ although my current favorite way to brew would be a bit large for your pack. Nice Yama glass stove top vacuum siphon.
I used to tell my students (teaching health at a boys' school) that if they were playing football in full pads in August in Gainesville, FL they needed Gatorade, otherwise, water, a bit of sugar, and a normal diet will provide all the electrolytes you need. I did worry about you and Taters in Kansas as you might have reached the sweat factor for which Gatorade was invented, but you all seemed to do well.
Sometimes you cant do anything to improve the potatoes aka powdered cardboard. Yes you can overdo it with electrolyets. One night I had hellucinations taking way to many. I saw green M&M people.
Hey man!! Could give us your current location when you put out these edits? I live in Palisade, just east of Grand Junction, and that rain that you experienced on a Saturday had to be more than a week ago as far as I can remember of any weather like that. It would be fun if you could let us know where you actually are presently....far as I can tell you must be well into Utah at this point...thanks Stud!!!
The date the video was recorded is on the map in the beginning. I don’t fuzz my location so if you want to see where I am now I usually post Instagram / facebook stories that are day of
The not giving current info thing is usually more female hikers. Male hikers are less prone to getting lonely folks showing up wanting to be our boyfriend…

Look at those Aspens.....
I've never even known that's what they look like. And I've lived in Colorado 😂 Freakin' awesome

Brondo, its what plants crave. Minds(or brainless) that swallow the advertising. Good video. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick
You should start reviewing the worst backpacking food once you finish for the season. It could be funny.

Thanks. ✌🏻👊🏼
Had high hopes that elk sausage would help mashed potatoes lol
Usually it needs to be 35% pork fat otherwise elk sausage is SUPER lean

Thanks for the review of Edward & Sons Organic Homestyle Mashed Potatoes
Add another one to the list of sponsors we’ll never get. Still holding out hope for Jen’s depends sponsorship though…
@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes LOL!
Here's hoping you don't "seize up and die" due to a lack of electrolytes. Thanks for sharing.
Day 161 watch. Nearing the border of Old Mexico on my quasi CDT ride on my NordicTrack. Your talk of electrolytes had me thinking…
That would be a cool program if you could walk the AT, CDT, PCT, etc. on a treadmill. Through hiking in the comfort of your home.

Everyone loves LMNT.

I was a competitive runner for years. Rarely drank Gatorade and if I did, I mixed half and half with water.
😎✌
Matt how much longer do you have left in Colorado ?
Still a bit. I crossed the Colorado border on September 28th
People survived before Gatorade’s.

Not an easy day
Can we send you a care package of beans?
What a difference one salt shaker would make the fat food.

Isn’t it on the map in the beginning? With the date? Hikers don’t (usually)give out current info as a rule. I’m my experience talking with them.
