Isn't that a hydraulic accumulator? e.g. no nitrogen.. it uses a spring and stored fluid. If it were a nitrogen system it would be in a cast iron ball designed to handle ~LOTS of pressure.

Ya that is funny. I have a 1985 gmc Vandura 3500 and I’m replacing the hydro boost and master cylinder. Seems like u have experience with hydro boost. What do you recommend buy new? And where do u buy a quality one from?
Stores Hydrulic energy. If you lose the Hydrulic pump from belt or engine failure the accumulator will give you enough flow for one or two assisted brake functions. After that it’s manual brakes. The nitrogen is compressed and the piston is collapsed. When power is lost from the pump the nitrogen pressure will push the accumulator piston and provide enough flow of oil to power assist the brakes. One or two applications only.

It’s definitely nitrogen. Springs were an older system.

@@kikkegek yes it could be, but you can't buy them anywhere. You can find used ones, but I wouldn't trust them
