Surprise! We bought another new horse,
We have been looking for a new horse for Lewis for a while now, Due to the fact he has gone as far as he can with his current horse Gambler,
They have won to much as a partnership that there is now limits to what horse shows they can do.
Whilst Gambler will carry on doing the few in hand shows that he is allowed to do and will also now become a ridden showing horse, Lewis has a new horse to train and hopefully she will follow in Gamblers footsteps and help him acheive his goal of winning a WPCS bronze medal
Meet Ebrill, - Known as Ebby at home, she is a 1 year old Welsh section D filly
Don't forget to subscribe to @KarenBadrick1 to follow along with our journey
Here I share my journey from a complete novice horse rider to now competing at horse of the year (HOYS) shows whilst being a completely self-taught equestrian.
I have failed so many times over the years but always learnt something from it, I hope that my RUclips channel will be able to help teach you all the little bits that nobody seems to share and help progress you on your riding journey quicker than I did on mine.

Gambler - 9yr old Welsh section D - Black roan
    Champ - 7yr old Welsh section D - Buckskin
Donut - 2yr old Welsh section D - Chestnut roan
I am a completely self-taught horse rider who has a big dream to compete at HOYS, why not follow my journey to see if we can make it,
I'm not perfect and I make mistakes but what we learn from it is what truly matters.

Willow is looking so well, never mind his tail it makes him unique....like us some are born with slight deformities ❤ Donut is a lil cheeky chappy Pip made me laugh with her head poked out trying to watch everything she's gorgeous. I'm glad Ebby is settling in she sure likes to wear her hay! You do a grand job with them all, looking forward to seeing more! Take care 👍 ❤🐴❤️🐴

You look so happy Karen with your 5 babies....❤❤❤❤❤. Thanks for explaining about Willows tail karen. I often wondered about that...such a stunning handsome boy Willow... xxx Donut is so calm. Not fussed with saddle at all. Lovely boy...baby welshies get bored so quickly. And want to put everything in thier mouths...😅😅. Donut is growing into a very handsome chap too...big softee stallion...Pip is just adorable...as is Ettie...I bet Ettie will be very affectionate. Super smart... have her own opinion... cheeky with a sense of humour and a stubborn streak...😂😂😂. But be a huge character....love mares....the bond with a mare is amazing...they read your mind.... The yard looks amazing.... karen...loads done.. well done Steve and your sons...Will you start long riening Donut karen... i would love a lesson on long reining please.. with your go pro on...what roller do you use please? I have seen many people long rien with the saddle on? Do you think the roller is better...did you have to do a lot of practice getting the boys used to the rope around thier back legs? Or just do it gradually.. i would love to see the process.... of teaching young donut longriening... You have your hands full now with 5 ..But you have never looked happier.....spending all day at your yard... therapy aye?? You are amazing with welshies karen. Just the right person. Calm , patient but firm...like any good mumma😂😂. Cant wait to see Lewis and his Ettie bonding....❤❤❤. Spending time together. And little pip....all such beautiful horses / ponies. So well looked after..so loved....so happy and content...your such a great horse mumma, trainer, rider...karen...love watching your video's....will Lewis only do showing with Ettie. Or jumping xc dressage ect. As his confidence and riding ability grows...?? So super talented Welshies. Ettie wont be hard work like Gambler... after you have backed schooled her....xxxxx

After they have finished on the yard there going on to re-fencing all the fields 😂 fingers crossed I can then get back a paddock that hasn’t been used for years due to a tree falling on the fence line 🤦‍♀️

Great vlog Karen Thankyou. When you longreined Willow you can clearly see that he's sound and is not in pain though his back his walk will improve when he engages his hind quarters tucking in of the head is just easier for him at this stage as his gaits comes from his shoulder, have you tried long reining up and down hills? I do that with mine it soon teaches them that they have a backend, improves all round movement, balance and suppleness, ( think I got the name wrong) lol . Till next time 👍💯

      Thank you
I definitely need to get him out long reining round the hacking tracks we use, there is some lovely hills there that will really help him,
I am trying to work out a plan for him for this winter to get him really fit ready to go out to the early shows next year as muscled and fit as possible

No I haven’t introduced the girls to the boys yet, but none of them seem fussed by them being at the yard 😂

Why is willow always pinning his ears back, and when you went to go tighten up the cirsingle girth he acted like it botherd him

    • @KarenBadrick1
      @KarenBadrick1  Месяц назад +1

He is always a grumpy gelding, if you go back on my channel there is a video titled ‘the truth about willow’ in that video I explain that he was a very dangerous horse and difficult to handle on the ground,
I’ve had him about 8 years now and although better on the ground he will still try to bite and intimidate people (I’ve learnt to ignore him now)
I have had every check done to him (ulcers, back, saddle teeth ect) and no one can find a reason for it but he is impeccable when ridden,
To be fair this roller girth has been stepped on in the past so it doesn’t do up as nicely as it should, you sort of have to yank it over one of the holes
