Love your videos man, just wondering if you posted the video of the 2500 paint job, planning on doing mine soon and looking for best results like yours , much respect from the UK.

Thanks man! Sorry I did not film that part if I remeber correctly. I use a few tricks .. one is to mask of the area to as small as possible with high quality painters tape (the Blue 3M stuff) then just use a spray can very lightly (a lot less than you would think, just use more the spray 'mist' than trying to get it wet). Another is for very small areas\scratches to get a very fine black paint pen (not a sharpie .. must be matte black paint pen) and very carefully cover the scratches. If you check out my MPC60 restoration video you will see you can also use acrylic paints and a fine art brush if you go very slowly that also looks OK :D

Did you replace the pots? Mine are starting to die eughh

Nope, mine were OK. The pots look OK to replace as long as you go slowly and don't try ansd force anything :D

Did you try to clean the switches first? My beat up cheap 2500 had a few dodgy tacts, a couple totally dead, some intermittent. Compressed air and then contact cleaner brought them back to life and they been fine ever since.

Hey David, no, I find the little bit it costs to replace the switches is easier than fixing them now only to have them possibly go bad again in the near future. I think it was $30 for all the switches and an afternoon's work to get it all done! Should last another 10-15 years trouble free! :D

Great video.. A 1 👍.. Did you ever do a video on how to touch up the paint? ..what did you use to match with it?

Check out my MPC60 restoration part 2 for one way to do it. Another is to use blue painters tape and mask off the whole MPC besides the area you need to fix then find spray paint thats a very close match and apply as little as possible (I used this method on my MPC 2500). Hope this helps :D

Once Akai was sold to Numark these units were cheaped out on component wise. It's a shame!

I think for the classic soul of the MPC changed, also modern construction is so different than was was done 15 - 20 years ago! :D

What color black is the spray paint? I am looking to fix some spots.

I just used a Matte Black and made sure I was almost not spraying it on to keep it super thin. for very small parts I would suggest using a very fine art brush to apply. Hope this helps :D
