I think Ethan is honestly one of the best written characters in the whole franchise. He literally makes this whole campaign. Reyes is your run of the mill protagonist with character development that is unoriginally ironic, and Salter just comes off as a character with little effort in her character at all. But Ethan man, he really makes every mission light up when he cracks a joke.
To be completely honest, Reyes has great character development compared to any and all COD protagonists. His journey is all about learning to make the necessary sacrifices, its present throughout the entire campaign, first he resents Alder (the previous captain of Ret) for the kamikaze maneuver he did to scare away the Olympus Mons because it led to the death of many of his subordinates. Later during the mission near the sun where Omar dies the question is brought up again - is Reyes capable of sacrificing his men for the greater good. McCallum is the living embodiment of Reyes' conflict, she was just like him, unable to let go of her precious teammates to achieve the mission and thats why she lost her position as captain. During the penultimate mission in Mars' orbit when they plan to ram the O.M. into the enemy's space port Reyes decides against sacrificing his entire crew for the safety of Earth and the consequences are catastrophic. He however does not submit and decides to give everything he has left in order to correct his mistake and save Earth, finally getting the resolve to do whats necessary. We see him order suicide dives from his crew to disable enemy Cannon Turrets, he sacrifices many of his comrades like Griffin and Ethan. This type of arc is something traditional media shies away from because of its dark undertones, yet IW pulls it off and does it subtly enough to where you seemingly haven't noticed it.
Oh yeah and about Salter: she's the antithesis of Reyes' drive, as is Omar. This can be demonstrated when she leaves Omar to die in order to successfully evacuate the asteroid and save the rest of the crew. And she is the one who carries out Reyes' final order to destroy the Martian space port, killing him in the process.
But I do agree with Ethan, he's great. He's made to be extremely likable to create the same conflict Reyes has within us. His own quote "Nuts and bolts, sir. (I am) ultimately expendable" while floating stranded with Reyes in space is Reyes' character's antilog, something Reyes absolutely rejects. This is his character's driving force - to save everyone he can and never treat them as "expendable". Its no wonder that the last sacrifice Reyes has to make (other than himself) is Ethan. Ethan represents his attachment and loyalty to his crew and also serves as a microcosm of Reyes character progression.
The people that compare this to Titanfall have not played Titanfall...because Titanfall is 20 times as hectic as this with the gameplay and setting, but this game takes full advantage of the space setting with the locations and missions
I mean if they can destroy the ret with their secondary guns then why use so much energy for their main weapon if they don't need it and plus they only use the big cannon for entire fleets not just on one ship
@@savelgravel9993 By using only their secondary weapons they took too long and gave the Retribution time to escape. Using the cannon is not only faster and more efficient but they would also be destroying Sato's Flagship and only operating Carrier thus eliminating their means of fighter support. It would be anything but a waste of energy.
If you look closely then the giant canon ain’t on the ship. They might have removed it to give it repairs because when we used it the canon died on us. It’s either that or the devs were too lazy to put it in
@@broker6095 The cannon retracts so I'm not sure about it being gone. But that's assuming it was damaged at all since neither SDF or SATO made any note of it.
Funnily enough, it's actually a somewhat better design than the Pelican. It's not much bigger, but the internal carrying capacity is far superior. You won't get vehicles inside a Pelican's bay.

i know it's for gameplay reasons but like wouldnt it make sense for there to be centralized vitals tracking for squads, especially ones in spacesuits? youd think if someone gets flatlined, even via sneaky sneaky, the whole team would instantly be alerted because suddenly all that dude's health monitors (bp, o2, etc) are reading like theyve suddenly been attached to a rock. idk like i said i know it's for gameplay reasons, but surely there could be a workaround. thats my only real gripe because i love the campaign otherwise
Underrated game honestly... campaign was awesome.

Ethan and Omar are the only characters in the game I really cared about

Ethan is awesome. I adore him.
The banter about submarines and building a ship that sinks wad precious 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This game really did an awesome job Humanizing the characters in the campaign, they even made E3N (Ethan) likable...compared to Black Ops 3’s campaign

What were the complaints about this game? It looks great.
@@bcor4219 Mostly multiplayer and partially zombies but many like the single player.

One thing is for sure: Titan makes a great environment for FPS games. Look at this game and Destiny 2.
Made in 2016 but has better graphics than most games in 2020 haha.
looks better than call of campers: jumpshotting grenade war
Infinity Ward was always known for never playing around with their graphics.
I love the depiction of titan! With all the methane falls and rivers. It’s beautiful
Attack on Titan
Technically right.
Well you are right
nananan yeager!!
Yeah attack on Titan Titan in here in battle of modern
Yes its literally an attack on Titan
"Mom can I buy Titanfall?"
"No honey, we already have Titanfall at home"
Titanfall at home:
I think both has a good story.
Titanfalk doesnt have space combat
Titanfall
This game is good! really like it!
Same
For a main base that just been recently attacked I'm surprised in the later mission they didn't put some serious defense on the ATIS gun
Ethan is an awesome character

Brian Bloom is a good actor for action hero character ..!
He himself was the writer of Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare.
And he was even the VA for Yuri in MW3 ,Keegan from Ghosts and etc
I love this part, very touching

27:35 when you the main hero
Damn titan in mcu iw and infinity ward's iw looks different
Titan in the MCU is a Planet, and Titan is already a name for a moon of Saturn.
Despite the hate for the multiplayer and trailer, this is actually not bad! :D
Is it strange that I enjoyed this game's campaign much more than starfield?
Best campaign ever.
This is epic.
Dropship looks sliiiightly Halo pelican-inspired...
I read somewhere it was inspired by the dropship from _Aliens,_ which also inspired the D-77/TC Pelican.
Funnily enough, it's actually a somewhat better design than the Pelican. It's not much bigger, but the internal carrying capacity is far superior. You won't get vehicles inside a Pelican's bay.
Every dropship looks similar to a flying tub, bub.
Hey I have a question will you continue the wolfenstein games? I love the infinite war campaign🙂
yeah i might do
Ethan has more emotions than most of the other character. It's kinda off putting.
People forget that most gamers play cod for the multiplayer not for the campaign
Fuck the multiplayer, this isn’t battlefield, I want story.
Then they're stupid
Activision:this we’ll be one of are greatest games
Call of duty titanfall
The campaign’s pretty awesome.
Nice bro
This game’s visuals stand up well. It looks better than the Cold War game lol.
Is it me,or is that like basically a pelican from halo
Just you
Both the Pelican & the SATO dropship were inspired by the dropship from the movie Aliens
If someone knows the soundtrack from the Raven drop, I would be much obliged.
campaign was so dope!!
Wow call of duty game is awsome im want to try that one🤩🤩
Titan looks like the perfect place for an evil lair
I wish Starfield Creation Engine shooting and enemy reaction is smooth like this. Instead we got fallout 4/76 clunkiness.
So basically, Gundam UC without Gumdam...or not even Zaku!

What is the Ret? A Carrier? A cruiser with an airwing? A Destroyer?
It's short for "Retribution", the main ship that Reyes is the Captain of.

A carrier, biggest ship the UNSA had
it is the space equivalent of an aircraft carrier and the largest in earths fleet. the mons is a supercarrier almost twice the size
C12 reminds me of Cain from robocop 2
But in reality, the landscape of titan wasn't like this, it was flat, rocky and mostly mountains.
