Never use black hair first of all u can't see what u r doing. Also cut the hair at a different angle . Maybe if u see other videos like this u might learn something. I'm so tired of videos like this it's line they only do them so they can hear themselves talk.
I'm sorry, this is the worst tutorial I saw, you cut all wrong and chunky, to fix after still super chunky, not even you have as much hair as manequim. I see nowadays ppl without degree make better tutorials. Thanks for trying to help tho, cheers.
You missed the most important part I feel, which is how much hair I should include in the bang, how to part it and where to separate it. This is where I’ve gone wrong before.
I did a tutorial on this exact thing on my channel if you’re interested. I cut it differently then her but I think you can use both videos as advice to get a great end result.
Depth is the ABSOLUTE KEY: just slanting the outside is not sufficient. Also the vantage from you stand to cut make another huge difference. Remember this is on wig hair which is very substantial and has great holding qualities.
I’ve have asked hairdressers for years to cut my fringe like this and they have always cut it into a overgrown fringe! So thank you for this I finally know how it’s done xx
This was SO interesting. I did a tutorial on my channel on how to cut this on yourself since we are in lockdown again and my clients are desperate but I actually cut it totally differently. I like the idea of connecting the ends of the fringe to the hair and sliding down. It makes for a really smooth transition to the rest of the hair. Very cool. Thanks girl.
I'm subscribed to you and will watch your technique. I think I found you over my comfort level as well, not sure. I followed Elizabeth Christine Hairs technique on my preexisting grown out curtains and I found her easy to follow. I may have even subscribed to you after her. It's been awhile.
How deep does this cut begin? Does it involve side hair? Or just front traditional bangs? We did not get to see you section the hair. Pros may know this intuitively, but I don't!
Where was this two years ago!? J/K but it's frustrating to take a picture into a stylist and come out with something similar but not quite what you were looking for. I was always told it was called slivered sides but now they've termed it curtain bangs maybe I can find a stylist that can do this cut. Saving this video to share with my stylist.
A stylist who has never heard of curtain bangs ?? That’s kinda scary to put your hair in her hands lol it’s a pretty well known thing, especially these days
I keep following your tutorials on coloring with redken + cutting my own hair, following you made it work to my satisfactory and my hairdresser was even impressed by the result 🤩👍🏽, so thank you!
Oh wow i finally got round to book an appointment with hairdresser and I'm really tempted to ask for curtain bangs. At the same time I'm paranoid I'll end up with wonky fringe and regret it. AGAIN... 😭 What you showed here it makes me want to have that exact hairstyle! 🤩🤩 Absolutely love it!
Great video, I wish you would have shown the sectioning part of this also. I feel like that it one on the most important parts of cutting, otherwise, beautiful!
I tried to cut some shorter face pieces a few weeks ago myself. Wish i had this video then. Haha. Im going in 4 days to have it fixed professionally. Didnt think curtain bangs would be what i want, but i think it is. So thanks!
Quick question, are these bangs able to look good with a slight side parting or even a deeper side part? Or do they need to be cut depending on where you part your hair and then always have to keep it at that parting?
bangs should always be cut with a center part but you can style how ever you want. Cutting with a center part makes the hair even by following the natural shape of the head allowing you to style on any side part :)
@@Ellebangs omg thank you so much for replying!! I've been wanting curtain bangs so badly, but was nervous that I would have to pick a part, or have to always wear it in the center! Thanks again! I love your videos!!
That's what I was thinking, when they are cut with center part, then they are gonna be uneven with a side part, there is no way around it, I don't understand how it would work out fine
This is what I always ask for and I have never got it sadly lol. I either get one or the other! The curtain or the face frame not both! Ugh I need you to do this for me haha.
You are the best hairdresser ever and if I lived in the US I would come to your salon! Thank you so much for your tips, I have been cutting my own bangs and it looks better than ever! P.S. Love your hair color in this video, can you tell us more, please?
Do you think this exact length of curtain bangs can be pulled off with a straight blunt shoulder length cut. ? I always get a shoulder or above straight blunt cut but I also love this look of curtain bangs.
@ elle bangs so helpful! & Also I literally want your hair colour + style its so beautiful ! What would I ask my stylist for that would be something similar to yours? thank you!
Very lovely look. How far back on the top of the head does the bang begin? ... because I think it could be a great feminine response for older women who have less bang volume.
I think the instructions could have been slowed down & explained a little more. And I would have liked to have been shown what you were doing while you're explaining it. An example, for the 1st half when you're working on the left side, I felt like I needed to see what you were doing from your POV. 🙂 About half way through I was just, very confused..& I just came from another video, that I really enjoyed & understood, but she had moved on to another type of style, while I wasn't finished & needed more elaborate instructions. Does that make sense? I only meant this for constructive -criticism- advice, I don't like that phrase, as is didn't come here to be critical of something I have no ideas about. 😋 I think I need a break now, I'll come back to this. 🙂 Thanks for the video!
I have waist long all one length hair. Want some kind of bang but my stylist says there is nothing I can have with my hair being this long? I have fine hair and basically straight with some slight wave. Would curtain bangs make it look too disjointed? What do you suggest for extremely long hair besides cutting it?
I followed the video brad Mondo did, he did explain how to part them. But in all fairness my bangs look more like so what not to do picture so I think I’m going to have to add more hair and try and make them fuller.
I watched Brad’s video too! I am a hairdresser and what you need to do is connect the sides by slide cutting into a longer section like she explained. Brad Mondo’s video is good in the sense that he shows you how to bevel the sides and create that beautiful layered look but he didn’t talk much about adding the long sides to the bangs to connect it to the rest of the hairstyle.
I don’t wear my part right down the middle. It’s just a little over to the side( not a deep part). Can a person still Pull up those kind of curtain bangs?
I wish you could cut my hair! Do you do online consultations? I’d seriously pay for you to tell me what kind of hairstyle I should get! Lol nevermind just saw your pinned comment above after I commented lol!
Yes these bangs give an illusion of hair fullness around the face. Just make sure to go too far backon the sides with the bangs (as to not steal too much hair from the back/ sides)

a trick : watch movies on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching lots of of movies during the lockdown.

Exactly.

Exactly what I was wondering!
I’ve had long curtain bangs since I was probably about 12 (I’m 35 now) I’ve never get rid of them!!! I love that I can pull them back if I want to
I’ve have asked hairdressers for years to cut my fringe like this and they have always cut it into a overgrown fringe! So thank you for this I finally know how it’s done xx
I think everyone struggles with how to start this, such as how much hair to take, where to start the part, etc. that would be first and foremost.
its different on everyone I have made a few videos explaining this already
@@Ellebangs cool I’ll have to check those out and come back to this one 😉 ty
Love it. Wish you’d explain how to cut it on oneself at home start to finish
I have other videos explaining this already, didnt want to sound liek a broken record, so I focused on the elements curtain bangs vs traditional bangs
@@Ellebangs I watched it today and cut my own bangs!! Thanks ❤️❤️
Thank you Sylvia! I’ll check it out. My curtain bangs are 2 years old
And need a trim 💖

The video I’ve been waiting for!
Just asked my stylist to do this for me yesterday!!!
Yay!!
Please do an updated haircut tutorial of your haircut and how to do your long bangs and framing of the face! 😊💖👯♀️
Thank you! I know what I want, but dont always know how to communicate it when I go get my hair cut. This was so helpful !

We did not get to see you section the hair. Pros may know this intuitively, but I don't!
a traditional triangle parting about 1 inch deep in the center.
@@Ellebangs Thanks so much for your reply! Alas, I am wearing the Covid bangs of shame. Good thing my hair grows fast. :)
So, how should you part or section the hair before you even begin cutting?
Yes that is my question to, to I go in front of the ear? At a angle how big of a section etc, can you show us that part please! Thank you 😊
For cutting always in the center for symmetry. As for style parting you can part how ever you please.
I don’t even do hair- and I love watching your videos ♥️
Had to rewatch this because I kept getting distracted by your stunning hair color!!!!😂❤❤❤
Thank you. Fixed my self cut bangs!
This is exactly what I needed to finish my curtain bangs! I was missing one key step and she taught it here! Thankssss💜💙💚💛🧡❤
This is what I asked my hair stylist for but not what I got 😂 now I’m trying to grow then out into curtain bangs.
same. wish i had just not even asked.
