- Hey guys in today's video I will show you how I restyled these thrifted Rainbow high Laurel and Holly Devious. This restyle was a huge struggle, this was my first time restyling 2nd hand Rainbow High dolls. There were a couple of hiccups but I think the end result turned out pretty well. i love thrift store restyle and restorative videos because seeing those poor babies not being played with honestly breaks my heart even though i know they're just plastic... 😭 thank you for giving them a second life!!

so listen, it might sound strange to the fashion doll community but i collect baby dolls and seeing the little babies with matted hair no clothes and beat up paint makes me sad i know its just the amount of love but to a collector its "I didnt care enough to make her look good" kinda thing which i always make sure my dolls look presentable but if they dont and its been through years of damage (especially hair) no can do (PS sorry for the long reply)

Oh youtube algorithm, thank you for recommending me this video with some of the most soothing narration to have come from a doll customizing channel. It's always nice to see that sometimes things just go wrong in a customizing/restyle video-makes it that less intimidating for people who have been interested in starting it as a hobby.
Regardless of that, they look great! The way they're styled makes it feel like their personalities are so far removed from their canon selves.
(Side note-as somebody who has styled wigs-avoid actual products that's used on hair and get like a gentle detergent for washing doll hair. Since it's a fiber than follicle.)

They turned out so so great. Love their lip color. I also recently thrifted Holly and Laurel and look forward to repainting their lips.My twins were in better hair condition when I got them and I was able to finger curl their hair back to their original look. Happy Holidays

I just got these two for $15 on Amazon. They make good models for extra outfits. I want to find some at a Thrift store for I can experiment with cutting the dolls hair or dying it. Really want to find a Heather her hair would look good in a bob. Also want to find Vannessa don't care if she doesn't have clothes she's just a pretty base doll that would look good in alot of things. I wonder what these dolls would look like if you remove their eye makeup, reroot them to a natural color and just give them a natural color lip.

A tiny bit of oil help remove the frizz. Beautiful dolls.
what i find works well with doll hair is color treated hair shampoo because it's ment to make the hair soft a silky if you damage it with bleach so with dolls i do the shampoo then condioner goes and it makes their hair really soft

Actually they turned out so well.
If I might say something from what I’ve seen in other peoples doll videos, if they style the hair prior to refacing or painting details on the face, they usually will mask off the hair so that it doesn’t get accidentally damaged, alternatively some will do the face and then the hair, and other times when they shave off the hair they end up doing doll wigs instead. Maybe just something to test out?
These turned out great! I have these dolls and they are my second least favorite dolls ( My first is Ainsley Slater!) because of their hair. It was just messy looking even fresh out of the box.
I really like restyling dolls and actually the majority of my dolls were in used condition when I got them! Of course, some of them are not really worth it (for example I had a Barbie whose previous owner chewed on the hands and feet… ugh), but others turned out to be great. I got a Barbie Mariposa 1. edition (I think?) used. The hair was disaster, the plastic wings didn’t work/always fell off, the dress always falls off and the shoes are broken, but the hair turned out to be my favourite doll hair ever (I styled and washed it so much as a kid and it never got worse) and I think the rest would be fixable if I found get again.
I also got a nude old Winx Bloom doll for 2€+5€ shipping (if I remember right, all I know for sure is that she was 7€ in total) and I really love her. The hair was just one big ugly and kinda weird smelling knot, but I fixed it with maybe a week of work, a lot of conditioner and shampoo and a comb (my skin on my fingers was destroyed after that). But I accidentally destroyed my work again and I have to repeat my work… lol… I‘m currently making clothes for her…
Now I think I‘m weird…

In the future, for the bangs, maybe put a piece of masking tape over the lashes to protect them? then you can trim without having to take the eyes out.
But when you remove the masking tape, be careful because the lashes go away so easily
