I really enjoyed hearing you talk about these very good to Hall of Fame level players. As a Pirates fan, I and many others in the Pittsburgh area have a list of very good to Hall of Fame level Pirates, and Dave Parker is consistently at the top of a lot of people’s list. He has been courageously battling for years, and I sure hope that he is inducted before he passes away.
Guys like Tommy John, Dick Allen and Luis Tiant should already be in the hall of fame. I think you have a valid point about Tiant being fresh on people's minds since he passed away last month, and that could give him an edge getting in this time. Also, a great point about Dave Parker and his health issues. With Parker being one of the three candidates that's still living, his health issues could help his cause.
Gave a video like. I've never understood why Thurman Munson isn't in the HOF. Tommy John is a HOFer and will get in someday. Would love to see him get in now while he is still with us. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
Unfortunately they fall short of induction, didn't play long enough. If Bill Freehan ever gets in, only then should those two should get high consideration.
I think Lefty O’Doul should get a chance. Maybe not for his playing career as it wasn’t that long, nor his coaching alone. But his body of work in what he did for the game vastly expanding it in Japan.
Great video Chris! I think Parker, Tiant, and Donaldson will get in, or at least I hope they do. As far as Munson is concerned, I agree he should be put into the Hall. He was one of the best catchers in that decade.
Great video Chris! Hopefully Donaldson gets into the Hall. Munson belongs too. My first baseball game I saw Luis Tiant start for the Yankees against the Brewers in County Stadium, 7/28/1979, August 2nd Thurman Munson died.
Excellent video, as a kid growing up in small town Saskatchewan in 70's & 80's you are right Garvey seemed like a HOF player. I would be happy to see at least get 3 elected but i believe you are right with Parker . I think Allen& Donaldson or Tiant John combo will be elected .
Here are my picks in order of how badly I want them to get in. I don’t have any special insights into who will get in, although I have done my research. 1. Dick Allen 2. Dave Parker 3. John Donaldson 4. Tommy John 5. Luis Tiant 6. Ken Boyer 7. Vic Harris 8. Steve Garvey I am in complete, enthusiastic agreement with you regarding Thurman Munson!
Great insight. BBHOF is becoming a political hall of statistics. My picks: 1. Pete Rose 2. Joe Jackson 3. Roger Maris Also they should let the fans vote in 1 player every year with of course strict limitations... i hope Dave Parker gets in. The others are all HOF worthy as well.
I know players like Lou Whitaker and Dale Murphy aren't on here, but they never played much in the 60s-70s like these guys did. But Whitaker is the most deserving one on the outside looking in. ALSO though, I believe guys like Parker, Garvey, Allen, Boyer, and most definitely Tommy John should have already been inducted long ago.
I knew you were a little biased for Donaldson being from the same home town, but I didn’t know you were mayor! Regardless, enjoyed the entire video and glad we least agree on Parker and Munson. Will be interesting to see next week who the voting committee is.
Hi Chris. Great video. I am hoping that Luis Tiant makes it. He was a great pitcher and had some great years. Thurman Munson belongs in the HOF too. I don't understand why he isn't. I agree with you that Munson was better than Fisk.
At least two of those players have off-the-field issues. Garvey had a squeaky-clean image until it came out he was unfaithful to his wife. Parker was a well-known cocaine user and central in the Pittsburgh drug trials. I'd like to see Dwight Evans get in.

Munson isn't even among the 8 under consideration, and it's been 45 years since his death. Since he hasn't been voted in by now, what circumstances would put him in? I fear he will forever be on the "should be" list.
All these guys, except the negro leaguers, have had the same stats for over 30 years. In the case with Munson, the bar has been lowered for catchers (IMHO), which helps his case
Thurman Munson isn’t in because he didn’t have a chance to put up the numbers and that’s a shame but the Hall of Fame has to be based on what a player did and not his potential of what could be. I think had he the chance to play a full career, he would have been for sure. As a Phillies fan, I REALLY hope Dick Allen gets in. In his later years, the attitudes about him changed as the truth came out. Unfortunately he passed a couple years ago and won’t get to enjoy an induction. The problem with the way the committees are set up now is there is too wide a range of years to pull players from and now lessens the chances of some players of getting in.
Another great video. Loved all the information on each of the 8.
Another Great Video Chris!!!!!! I hope your family has a Great Thanksgiving!!!!!

Love your videos with Mike and showcase showdown.
Chris good video. I like the quick synopsis of the players and what helps or hinders chance of getting into the Hall. Happy Thanksgiving.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I think it will be interesting when Buster Posey becomes eligible. He and Munson are almost perfect comps.
Unfortunately they fall short of induction, didn't play long enough. If Bill Freehan ever gets in, only then should those two should get high consideration.
Buster Posey will make the hall of fame...I don't know about in his first year, but it's possible. Munson should have made the HOF years ago.
I think Lefty O’Doul should get a chance. Maybe not for his playing career as it wasn’t that long, nor his coaching alone. But his body of work in what he did for the game vastly expanding it in Japan.

Whitaker is definitely going to be on it when I do 80s and 90s

Love to see where you think the committees biases will lie when they are chosen.
@ will know in less than a week

Well done my man! I think the cobra and Tiant should get in this year. I also believe tommy john belongs as well

I am a huge Evans fan
Richie Allen & Dave Parker

I AM AFRAID YOU MAY BE CORRECT

I’ll take Pinson over any of them
