I just moved to South Carolina from California. I was born and raised in Cali my whole life up until now. I was so in love with Cali that I always said I would never ever leave. Cali was, at least I thought, where I was MEANT to be and the best place in the whole US. I have been here in South Carolina or almost a year now and not only would I would NEVER go back to Cali, but I love it here SO MUCH that I am 30 years old and I truly want to stay here for the rest of my life. Not only is SC one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, but the amazing, kind, humble, LOYAL & REAL people that live here is absolutely unbelievable. Literally the complete opposite of California. So, in my opinion, I don't agree with this at all. All the AMAZING positives that SC has, MAJORLY outweigh the negatives that are mentioned here. Just my opinion!

@Amber Rowe -- I agree with your message, I was born/raised in Cali and relocated to Georgia during the year 2000, before then I declared most of my life that I would never ever live in another state, but we all know now that Cali isn't what it once was... Now after living in Georgia for 22 years, I'm ready to move/retire to either South or North Carolina... I've been researching/visiting particular cities but have not decided which area is best for me at this point in time.

I was born raised in South Carolina and would love to return my home state. Yes South Carolina does have bugs and snakes but alligators I'm really curious about. Moved here from south New Jersey in 2003. The northern attitude is horrible as well as the crime. We moved to SC and never went back, even to visit. The humidity, not the heat, is rough. The bugs are a pain but we had them in NJ. Taxes are everywhere in every state.COL SC rates #22 actually. And NC, SC, GA, FL, AL, MS all have the same type of bugs. Hubby lived in FL and his aunt used to kill palmetto bugs with a brick and hair spray. Blessings

I've been in South Carolina for 7years
I was about 26 when I came. I was from Virginia and found that I had a hard time excelling with the pace and lack of opportunities in Virginia. I came to South Carolina and quickly realized it is a stable state for someone looking for life experience with little distractions, and a place to make and save money for the next move in your life. There are definitely pros and cons, one con being the closed mindedness of some of the locals, and one pro being the availability of fairly profitable work. I live in the upstate and find that it isn't a hard place to make work for you if you come with a plan

Rock Hill, SC born and raised! 😂 this made me laugh. It’s all true 💞
I said the above before watching the whole video. Not a fan of the gates of hell stuff or the fact that you and your family were yelled at (or made to feel like they were yelling ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ at you) I am white and conservative. And any true conservative would not tolerate those actions. It’s unfortunate that people are straying so far from God that they hate over something as small as pigment and culture. Embrace it people! We won’t be fixed until we let love lead us.
South Carolina is a very beautiful place. We do have a lot of poverty stricken towns that I would love to see built back up. I bought a house in Chester in 2013. Chester is a dying community, but it has so much potential! It’s really sad to see such a beautiful area deteriorate right before your eyes.

However, the sales tax on a vehicle is 5% or a limit of $500. In Virginia, you pay the local sales tax rate. If you buy a $50,000 car in VA sales tax is at least $2,500 and you still have a personal property tax every year. In SC, the sales tax limit is still $500.00.

But then along the way I found that FL lost its swing state status overnight and they're trying to make it more boring like SC. Like a proposed curfew even in Ybor city. It's getting deep red in FL too like in SC. I had to come back here to find that out though.

Not too close you take for granted and not too fat away you never go. 3 hrs ish either way. As 1 who hates lots of traffic yeah just stay away from SC. lol

The worst thing about South Carolina is they don't want to hire Black Men other than for labor jobs. I know some many people with degrees and clean records that are working at Amazon or UPS. Because they can't get hired for any other jobs because...So a lot of people are going into business for themselves and etc but it's sucks to find that out after you've paid for college. Especially if you go to Midlands Tech, because a lot of applications don't even have that college listed on their application so you have to select Other. Which is another reason your application gets put in No pile.🤷🏾‍♂️

More younger people went to FL to take a higher salary with them from another state but even FL is failing bad now too. I wouldnt recommend it even if SC sucks but I also had to return here to find that out. #1 it's no longer a swing state too.

I live in the Greenville area. Three things I hate.. Chiggers! Poison oak/ivy! The traffic has become horrendous with so many moving here! Rental prices on houses is also skyrocketing! I'm about priced out! 😢 On the other hand, you can go to the mountains any time you want, the beach is only 4-5 hours away, depending on how fast you drive, we have great food! And freedom is still respected here! SC isn't so much a red state. There's a lot of politician's and politics that are red, but there's a lot of blue too, especially in the southern part and along the coast. That's one reason we pay higher taxes.

    • @MeltinJohn
      @MeltinJohn 2 года назад

FL might be more red in the present day than SC is then. Maybe SC is slowly turning moderate then where FL is getting insanely red but USED to be the swing state.

I have lived in SC most of my life and you have described the state quite well. Proud boys..we do have nut job protests from the L and the R intermittently. Sports- year round psychosis and I am part of it. Zoo-that Jordan stuff is “normally abnormal” these days -ballgames are a big outlet for it. Unless you were wearing a L leaning T shirt, 🤷🏼‍♀️ nothing was meant by yelling it in your presence. I have friends from all races/religions and they have all used the phrase once or twice. Yea… we cannot stand him but many of us did not like T either. Big difference between conservatism and the psycho right. Happy New Year!

Florida lost its swing state status too. I left SC hoping to get that same swing state when I came back to FL just to find now with all the new arrivals that FL is now deep red. Now this is like the deep south. So all that progress FL made is out the window. Might as well be in SC really or just leave the goddamn south period.

I agree with most of your video. However, most of upstate S.C. is now from anyplace BUT S.C. They all bring their own, rude, driving behaviors and their demands with them. Word of advice..DO not move anywhere, insult the people, and then DEMAND Southern Hospitality. 😉 Also, flooding is so bad now bc of get-rich quick builders cutting out all our beautiful trees, paving, asphalting, etc...YES! That brings more flooding and reduces the air purification. We miss our trees and pastures. S.C. upstate used to be beautiful. NO infrastructures could keep up with this madness.

Yesssss Sondra, all of this! Upstate is beginning to look less like the green, old-school woods and more like a strip-mine. Those stick-built houses are complete garbage (as heard from several contractors now), things like compromised slab foundations to cracking drywall. It can all be yours for the low, low cost of (wait for it) the "mid-150's", when usually it's more like 200k+ in decent areas. At least places like Fountain Inn, Woodruff, and parts of Laurens are still looking decent in that department, but definitely not the case for places like Greenville and Spartanburg....

    • @mrmonte1975

You made a good point about the traffic and hopeless infrastructure.... I'm black and originally from Joliet, Illinois..... moved to upstate SC back when I was 17. I actually see a grand difference between then and now. It has become both crowded and congested. Drivers are very rude and always in a rush driving at race car levels unless cops are around of course. The communities and downtown areas have improved as far as being tourist attractions but they have also become bloated and expensive at the same time. They are trying hard with their infrastructure but the highways are still lacking in improvement in many areas... Potholes are just as plenty as the good food, so most cars will suffer the more they are used here. If you're a strictly political person then the gentleman in the video is correct. However, being a person that sees problems with both parties, I've learned to look beyond party affiliations and it does me well tbh, so I can live amongst dems or repubs, as long as I'm left alone. And trust me, Dems have really changed for the worst as well. I could go on but I digress.

I moved from Baltimore, MD and moved to the Charleston SC area. Here’s my pros and cons:
    Pros:
I can buy blue crabs for cheap
    land galor
A place I can def focus and save money
Close drive to Fl, GA and NC
    Near beaches
    Cons:
    Boring
    People seem programmed here
Natives don’t seem to welcoming of us Northerners
Food is HORRIBLE!!! there’s 1 spot I will recommend where the food is good and that’s Acme kitchen.
    Property taxes
Liquor stores close at 7pm during the week and closed on Sunday
    Can’t get steamed crabs
Downtown still has a raci$t feel to it
    The list goes on.
    We’re definitely ready to move
