Honestly, I am brown and despite what the media tried so hard to believe. I have never encountered any kind of racism since I moved here in 2017. I've lived in NJ, NY, FL and know friends in GA and visited many smaller cities and never witnessed any. Not saying not existing but it is at the personal level and you most likely not going to encounter it.
Hi, Im a Filipino and currently residing at Upatate NY. and thinking of moving to SC for our retirement. I would love to hear from you if once you moved to SC.
I wouldn't say south Carolinians want "friendly" people, but they do want *outgoing* people. Southerners think "being friendly" means "no respecting boundaries", so they'll want to know everything about you, and expect you to be open about everything. This is a problem of you're not a traditional-christian-conservative. So you're put in this situation where you're rejected by not opening up, but you'll also be rejected if you do open up and you don't fit the mold.

We moved from Atlanta to Beaufort County SC at the end of 2020. We are an 1 1/2" south of Charleston and 1" north of Savannah and Hilton Head. Plenty of night life and music a sort drive away. Now we have hockey with the Savannah Ghost Pirates.
I live in Anderson SC and everything you said is true. I think the same thoughts apply to living in our Country. If you don't want to embrace our culture then don't move here.
I have a close friend living in Beaufort SC. There is a possibility that I would go and live temporary at her house till I manage to settle down alone. What do you think about this town ? Any idea it they have good technical schools?
This is the United States, we embrace each others culture & traditions or we are not going to have a country anymore! Do u want this to be the United Countries of America?
The United States is literally a melting pot of culture. Unless the "southern states" are willing to succeed which they are not because the civil war didn't work out for the south. So the southern states need to keep in line with the federal government. Otherwise let's say you're a Democrat Yankee in the south, its not illegal but you probably won't be making friends.
What’s is the taxes over there? Here in Miami we pay 7% in purchase buy and I’m paying almost 5,000.00 in house taxes a year and about 110$ per car insurance
My comment is more general, but it's been my experience with SC (and other popular southern states) tend to attract certain categories of northerners. Not all northerners by any means. But for the most part they are what I might refer to as a domesticated lot, desiring domesticated living conditions and activities offered by a hot, sunny climate.

Judging by what you went over, I'm quite compatible for the most part haha. However, I'm not American - I wanted to migrate to the US and am giving a special attention to more affordable states like SC, which's really appealed to me so far. How do people in SC feel about immigrants, in particular from Latin America (not too distant culture-wise)?
I grew up in SC, have since lived all over the US, and would never return to SC. Here is why: 1, Heat and humidity. 2. High crime 2. Horribly incompetent and corrupt legal community. 3. Few people take pride in the quality or even correctness of their work 4. Too many choose to not work and collect govt assistance. 5. Too many big hats with no cattle. 6. Poor schools.
I disagree with poor schools I go to public school in SC and honestly everyone there is nice and it’s a good education cause in my school most people have an average at least above C from everyone I know. and heat and humidity is honestly an opinion for not returning there some people like heat and humidity especially if you work outside a lot and I am one of those people who like heat and humidity and I don’t know you but from my knowledge I feel like you wouldn’t be that mad about the heat and humidity if you grew up there because your body would be adjusted to it and get used to it and not hate it but I don’t know you or where you lived in there but for me I am planning living my whole life in SC

Same with me being Scottish some people didn’t like me because I’m from Glasgow Scotland . But whatever I’ll get back to South Carolina and I have to know where you got that shirt? This is hot air. I will tell you the lagitamitly number one reason not to move here. South Carolina works HARD to make anyone who wasn't born here homeless. They take FULL advantage of people who move down here with absolutely no affordable housing, no transportation system, and no actual careers. You and your family AND friends will be working 3 jobs to live here, IN AN APARTMENT. Every hurricane season regardless of if one comes anywhere close to SC they will hike up prices on essentials for half a year and act like there were hurricanes happening that whole time. Everything around here is built for consumerism, Tourist's, and a one week trip. This place is NOT ment to start a family or business. In fact you will lose your family, your business AND your sanity trying to live here. The people are 2 faced as HELL. At least in a city if someone hates you, you know it and you can avoid them. Here they act like a bunch of elementary school children trying to dig dirt up on eachother and play social politics. All behind a big smile. You hear about THOSE types of neighborhoods, the ones that are all surface level. THAT'S all of South Carolina. You can't live anywhere around here without an HoA. They care more about appearance then substance. I have lived here for 13 years and OMG do I regret moving here. If you're rich and a HUGE snob, you will fit right in.

I don’t want to say that you’d never encounter some racism. However, it is not as common as certain media outlets make it seem. I'm very interested in South Carolina. I'm leaving prairieland forever real soon. Can't wait! Just tell me if there is a flooding problem here. Is it below sea level?
Charleston can have some flooding problems. But, that’s really the only place that deals with much of it. If you’re inland, flooding is not a major issue in the state.
You must also consider the higher crime, lack of car inspections, possible hurricanes (for the coastal part), and lack of road management in this state

There are three kinds of northerners. 1) The vast majority who are products of their region, have roots and family, like it and stay put. 2)Those who move south because they prefer hot climates with the lifestyle and activities a southern region has to offer. This second group tends to be middle- upper middle class, economically mobile and migrate from metro regions with a higher-than-average cost of living. The bulk of them tend to be retirees. 3) This category includes both retirees and those who relocate due somewhat to circumstances. These transplants who might not be keen on moving south, come because of personal or employment circumstances. This includes a percentage of retirees who couldn't economically swing it and were compelled to move. Both of these sub- groups would've preferred to stay put in their region. It's this third category with the greatest concentration of malcontents.
Yeah I moved here from super expensive central California where it gets to be 110 degrees and 10/10 UV index. I guess it depends on the person's previous situation haha 😄

Immigrating from Canada to USA. Been looking into South Carolina or Florida. The process to immigrate has been soooo hard and expensive. My husband is American and my children are dual citizens. Now we have to choose a state to call home. It’s not as easy as it seems. In Canada we can move easily from one part of the country to the next. But there is so much red tape to move from Michigan to South Carolina. My views are heavily Republican/Conservative so this is why I’ve decided the south is calling and it’s time to say goodbye to liberal Canada. @@ussscounterassaultteam5790 had a friend who was stationed in Fort Campbell back in the 90s. Reason, he moved to South Carolina from Brooklyn lol I was also almost successful in pumping my own gas (husband started the gas pump but I finished) so yaaaay me. this may not be an accomplishment to most, but last time I had tried I couldn't even open the gas tank lol (and you being from Jersey, you understand where I'm coming from :D )

South Carolina is a horrible state I hated it with a passion 😡 The only thing positive I have to say about South Carolina is the food was good the weather. Everything else NOT The people were horrible white supremacist type. It's a horrible place. I never want to go back ever. North Carolina is just as bad.
I’m a friendly northerner (Long Island, NY) and I would love to move to SC. Almost every vacation I have been on since I was 12 (54 now) has been in SC. Myrtle Beach, No. Myrtle, Hilton Head, and Charleston and I love going back. I’m thinking of visiting the upstate area this summer. Greenville is somewhere I definitely want to explore. We are a conservative family and NY is just not somewhere we want to be anymore.
What's wrong with drugs, violence, and crime? Oh, did you speak? To jail with you! Lighten up! It's just tyranny!
Anderson SC sounds like the place for you. Very laid back with conveniences just a couple minutes away.
How’s your search and exploring going??
Also in my 50’s and from Long Island. We’re also thinking of visiting, possibly moving. With no family in SC all research im doing presently is on-line.

I’m a Filipino and plans to relocate to SC (Columbia) with my family ‘coz I got a job offer there. But my no.1 concern is racism. Could you give me some insights on this. Thanks
Racism ended in the late 1960s.
Hi, Im a Filipino and currently residing at Upatate NY. and thinking of moving to SC for our retirement. I would love to hear from you if once you moved to SC.
Im Filipino and Im been here for over 25 years. Racism is everywhere. No worse here than anywhere.
I currently live in UT but originally from a mild weather state, I think the Greenville area will be perfect for a 30 something libertarian like me :)

Your right about the dating scene.I haven't had a girlfriend since I moved to Greenville back in 1992.

I lived in South Carolina since I was nine years old and I love it South Carolina is my home
We’re glad you love our wonderful state! It truly is home!
People at work trying to be up in your business, and then when you let your guard down, they say some bigoted shit. Makes me tense and anxious.

Love Seneca. I’m normally over there a couple times a month!
@@livinginsouthcarolina Yeah, it didn't seem like you had a strong accent in the video. Also, what I noticed from living down there is, that some people have that strong southern accent stronger than others. The roommate I was living with during my time in Seneca, he didn't have that strong southern accent either, he sounded kinda like you and he's originally from North Charleston, SC. It seems like the people who live near the coast in SC like Charleston, Myrtle Beach, etc don't have that strong southern accent compared to other parts of the state. With that being said, I might be totally wrong but that's what it seemed like to me during my time down there lol!
@@rcyoung86 yes, depending on where one lives in the state he/she may not have an accent. There are also regional accents that are distinct to certain areas.
If you're from the North you might not want to move here, because racism will shock you.

My comment is more general, but it's been my experience with SC (and other popular southern states) tend to attract certain categories of northerners. Not all northerners by any means. But for the most part they are what I might refer to as a domesticated lot, desiring domesticated living conditions and activities offered by a hot, sunny climate.
Anything wrong with that?

I grew up in SC, have since lived all over the US, and would never return to SC. Here is why:
1, Heat and humidity.
2. High crime
2. Horribly incompetent and corrupt legal community.
3. Few people take pride in the quality or even correctness of their work

Now, now.....just calm down and we'uns will make you'uns a nice SWEET tea to slurp on!!

Welcome to Magic City, Laura!!!
No ice rink sounds good to me. Hospitality sounds wonderful. Enjoy the thought of the Upstate area.
Upstate is trash.
The Hot Heat and Humidity is the number one reason to not move here.
It would be super convenient if someone could invent something to keep us cool during summer 🥵🥵🥵

I want to raise my young family with people of like minds around me. It will just be a big disappointment if we can’t get to South Carolina but remain in democrat run Michigan after I join my husband in USA.
