    Thank you for your video. I did follow most of your advice and I successfully repair my friend's 3 years old car battery. However I did wait for 13 hours till the Dead battery to 100% Fully charged (Solid Green light), then I set it to Repair Mode. It only took me 6.5 hours to complete Repair mode on my friend's car battery.
    By the way, I have seen 5 demo videos about using this NOCO charger in RUclips. Yours is the real down to earth honest video.

    I had a 3yr old 840CCA Deep Cycle Marine Battery that had been sitting for 2years and was at 5v before I started. Took 1 day to charge and about 1 week on repair mode but it's back. Impressive little charger that's already paid for itself. Thanks for the video! I never would of had the patients to let it do its thing otherwise.

    My first time having to repair and charge a battery, I remember that it also took almost 4 days. But that has been 6 months now and I have not had any problem with my 5 year old original model yellow Optima battery. At first, I was angry and thought my NOCO Genius battery charger was defective. But no, it did it’s job, just took longer than I thought it should.

    Not sure these types of hydrometers are even sold anymore. Apart from Walter White not many people could even uses or read them today. This video includes the most scientific and concise tests I've ever seen on this topic. I've been in the 'recovery' mode now for 36 hours now, I think I'll let it ride, thanks for the video.

    Thanks for the nice review. Great that you showed the gravity check, what many people don't even think of. With Noco it's very 'commercial' on RUclips - a lot of talking, repeating marketing crap but not really showing what it does.
    You showed the main test - gravity :)
    What I miss and would love to see in some supplement (for now just a comment maybe) is how the voltage and amps look along the way. I also tested this NOCO (still am not sure if it was fully okay, as it's not what I'm used to after testing several chargers) and found that it works very strange. It just reaches the target voltage, but won't hold it for any longer. Other brands usually reach the 14,4 (or higher, depending on the mode) and hold it for approx. 2 hours then go to float of 13,x V. The G7200 I used reached 14,4 V and in the same second it stopped charging - voltage back to 12,9 V and it just aimed to keep it. Didn't float, holding 13,6 - 13,8 V as the Swedish competitor for instance does.
    My unit also went crazy in re-cycling from 25% to 100% within 2-3 minutes (tests done only on good, well charged batteries, so didn't have a chance to test it really charging anything). Still I didn't like the way it works, as I have the impression that in 'Norm' mode it simply stops way too early, or the unit I had tried is somehow faulty :) Especially since after reaching 100% it runs in circles - back from 25% to 100%, all happening in less than 3 minutes (voltage holds, doesn't get below 12,8 - 12,9 V, when this charger re-starts from the 25% LED and tops to solid 100% LED about a minute later).
    Anyways I'd love to see your video showing a multimeter connected all the time and not just before / after. Thanks again!

    Thanks for the video. I’ve owned the G3500 for over a year now and I’ve been very happy with it. I’m sure that larger model is nice. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this G3500 to someone that may not need the G7200 for the higher output or 24V batteries.
    I’ve used the G3500 to charge/repair all four of our vehicles and I’ve used it for trickle charge on my car when it was out of service for a few months. Also, the G3500 will charge the smaller 6V batteries which I don’t think the G7200 can.
    Thanks again.

    I can say this thing works as advertised for the repair mode, although its important to charge your battery's up as much as you can before putting into repair mode, I wasn't able to get the full 100% either before the repair mode but the repair still worked well for 2 different batteries that I thought were done and they are back in business. I found mine for about 85 bucks a few years ago but even at the 100 dollar price it does pay for itself by keeping your batteries in business. Good Sh&t Man

    Thank you very much for this video.
    I just bought a G23000 and was wondering what was going on.
    I have 2-6 volts for my rv.
    I first start by using the charge mode and after 24 hours it was still pulsating on the 100% mark.
    So I switched to repair mode and after 12 hours I end-up with a red repair mode flashing and the 100% one pulsating.
    There is no explanation in the instructions about this so I was really wondering what was going on.
    This is when I though about going on Google and do some rechearch and here you are enlightening me on the subject.
    So I guess I would be patient and see how many days it will take in my case.
    Again: thank you very much!

    TIP:
    Best way to charge Ca\Ca Liquid Acid baterries using G7200 is: 1: Use AGM+ mode to charging and next repair mode. And ignore that 25-100% LEDs. They are not working corectly. Use multimeter to check if charger is still working(voltage measurement). The density of the electrolyte is possible to achive only when final charging voltage is ~16V. In standard mode the charger does not reach voltage like this. I have one of that NOCOs. You should start charging with higher current and lower voltage and finish with high voltage and low current. Default "normal" 12V charging mode is too safe for the battery and not achive 16V in last phase of charging. And repair mode cannot be use separately. Is always a last step and can be used only when battery was earlier fully charched.

      TheKrisu091
      Hi. So you're saying to use AGM mode so that the noco will end its charge mode on 16v - like an equalization charge? And then to switch over to the 12v repair?
      I understand why the battery needs to get to 16v, but I don't see why that would improve the repair function since it only uses voltages of 13-14v.

    • @marcusgardner7640
      @marcusgardner7640 4 года назад

      And are you talking about for flooded lead acid batteries? I don't know what ca/ca is

    • @TheKrisu091
      @TheKrisu091 4 года назад +1

      @@marcusgardner7640 Misunderstanding. Repair mode delivers the highest voltage ~16V. Normal charching is like 13-13,5V next 14V and finally 15V for a short time. AGM+ Constantly 15-15,5V and Repair mode have almoust constant 16V 1,5A(Max 16,15V). I suggest to use all that 3 modes when battery is almoust empty. If we have good baterry with 70-80% of capacity and we only want to charge it to 100% use only AGM+ and next repair mode.
      Ca/Ca is one of the types of modern liquid Acid Batteries. That means that both +/- cell plates are made with use of calcium. In some older constructions is not good to charche with high voltage like 16V and this is why i'm talking about that. Most of modern batteries are Ca\Ca but you must be sure. You don't want to charche old Sb\Sb batteries with voltage like 16V.
      Max Voltages:
      Sb\Sb Batteries: 14,5V
      Sb\Ca Batteries: 16,4V
      Ca\Ca Batteries: 16,25V
      Noco can deliver max 16-16,15V in Repair mode.
      I'm talking about AGM+ mode. Not standard AGM\Cold mode. That's difference.

      @@TheKrisu091 Thanks for the reply. After researching it looks like my battery is of the Sb (antimony) type because it is a deep cycle, not a starting battery (which use calcium.) Unfortunately, it looks like I can't use your tip. My battery is a group 27 EV flooded marine battery (non-sealed) for solar application.
      From watching the voltage on repair mode it looks like it stays only in 13-14v, is that because it just goes to 16V very quickly (in the pulse) - too fast to show up on my multimeter?

    Personally, I would dump everything in the battery into a plastic container. Fill it up with baking soda diluted in distilled water, and dump it upside down again (repeat a few times). There are a lot of lead particles accumulating at the bottom, causing short circuits weakening the cells and it's a good idea to get them out first. Then I would fill it up with new battery acid. Should be almost good as new. If you don't have a supplier of battery acid, just filter the old solution you saved in the plastic container earlier (an old cotton tshirt will do), mix a tablespoon of epson salt, and pour it back in the battery. Then recharge the battery.

    This review is off the hook. A+ love it and its scientific quality. However, I own several infrequently driven antique cars and trucks, given this video's diagnostic effort level needed just buy a new battery then move on, especially if you need to use a "recovery" mode. I rotate a 6v and another 12v Battery Tender to each of my cars once a month. If there is no parasitic draw on the battery my "update" only takes a few hours. I get 6+ years of life on all batteries of any brand, no fancy charger needed to maintain a good battery.

    I actually bought 2 of the Noco Genius G1100 series & installed the eyelet connectors on both drivers side & passenger side batteries. (For easy/Fast connection)
    When I know I’m going to be parking the Ram for a few days I connect both trickle chargers up at the same time. Seems the drivers side battery always takes a few hours longer to reach its full charge!

      Not sure if my reply stuck but anyway, I had a green light in the end and the repair was flashing. That's still possibly an error but I was successful. Not all batteries can be recovered. Heavy sulfation is probably not going to get fixed. I'm not a big fan of repairing batteries but it did work in this instance.

I have a 31 DC battery, and it has been on repair mode for the last 3 days, and the repair led indicator is still flashing red, and the 100% is solid green (and has been) since I did the 1st step (i.e. fully charge the battery first)...

  • @patrickbuick5459
    @patrickbuick5459 4 года назад

    Now I am really confused. Some people seem to have experienced the charger going back to standby mode when repair is done and NOCO support indicated that if a final charge is done during the repair cycle, then the green 100% light comes on and the repair one just keeps on flashing and it never goes to standby like their articles and manuals suggest. So now I don't know if I leave it be or move on to the next battery. (Mine is green with recovery flashing and has been for hours.)

    • @mpcp27
      @mpcp27 3 года назад +4

      I think the conflict happens when people put it in repair mode before the charging is complete. I have a genius 5, and it took 2+days to complete just charging of a battery that had a voltage of 12.6. It's the last optimization/saturation step that takes the longest. Noco rep said it could take up to 48 hours to complete. So i left it and at the 46 hour mark the pulsing green light changed to solid indicating full charge.

    I would be interested to see a video of you repairing batteries with the Genius10. I have had trouble finding any videos of people using a Genius10 to repair a 12v battery. I recently bought one after much research (plus it went on sale on amazon for $79 this last weekend on Amazon). I have soem 12v batteries that are at or below 1v of charge. I am starting by puting them in charge mode. I have been sorting out how to control them and charge them with this charger. It appears I have been able to get a force charge to activate and bring voltage up to over 1v. And I am now in charge mode on one for a few hours. The 25 percent LED is pulsating. So I believe it is receiving a charge. I will keep an eye on it for several more hours to see if it increases to 50 percent or higher. And hopefully it can get up to 75 percent or 100 percent and then i will put it through a repair charge. I am hoping for the best. Thanks for your videos.. this one and the other one where you showed the Genius10 that NOCO gave you as part of their Warrantee protection.

    I asked the question on 1/17/2020. on this topic and that's what they answered me today. Message:
    I apologize for using a translator. I used Repair Plus mode. Repair lights flash and 25%. this has been going on for two days, but now I was surprised that on the tester, 8.9V.. 7.4A . before that it was 11.6 volts. the electrolyte density is approximately the same 1.17 .. and how much it can stand on charge like that. (battery pb 80a 650en) and I want to ask is this normal 2 days?.did the other battery in this repair + mode charge for about 4 hours? .........Thank you for contacting NOCO support. No worries about using a translator, I am using one as well. 12V Repair Mode will last up to approximately four hours, and then the charger will either go into Standby mode with the orange Power LED lit, or it will automatically enter another charge cycle. If the battery is not completely charged prior to Repair Mode beginning, or if the repaired battery gains capacity that then needs to be charged, or if the charger is unable to reach the 16.5V used by the Repair Mode, then the charger will enter a normal charging cycle and the charge percentage LEDs will begin pulsing. The Repair Mode LED will remain flashing during this time to serve as a reminder that you had run a Repair Mode cycle on the battery, but once the charger shows a solid green 100% LED and the flashing Repair Mode LED, the repair and charge are complete.
    If the charger is staying on 25% for a long time, then it is likely that the battery is still sulfated and needs another repair mode cycle. So if you are not seeing results with a single repair mode cycle, more than one cycle may be necessary. Keep in mind that not all batteries are repairable though, and if you are not seeing any improvement in performance with your battery, or if its resting voltage is still lower than it should be (12.8V), I would recommend taking the battery to a local shop for testing. They would be able to let you know if the battery is worth the time to try and repair, or if it should be replaced.
    Please let me know if you have any questions.
    Kind regards,
    Sharla Henderson

      I've used it on both flooded lead-acid and AGM. And yes you can start and stop it. It won't hurt it but it won't finish repairing until you leave it on long enough to do it. If it's repairable leave it on long enough for the green light to come on. Mine took so long because the battery was really in bad shape it probably won't take that long if your battery is in better shape. He can repair it if the battery is sulfated but if there's a dead cell or something like that it's not going to fix it.

    For what it’s worth you should have left it charging as long as it took to reach 100%. Even days. Repair mode is not designed to be used until it’s fully charged. The normal charging scheme also has a restore function and when it’s taking longer than usual that’s because it’s decided to take the additional steps to actually fix the battery.
    You’d have gotten even better results if you had just left it charging until it stayed solid green and only then initiated repair mode.

    Hi, There is an advice to recondition a battery from very bad shape. In similar way as you did, fully charge the batter with normal or AGM mode. Then instead of using REPAIR mode, use AGM+ mode. It will charge the battery with the higher voltage, about 15.5V. This will increase the gravity to solid green. Look at this experiment (this is in Polish) but if you go thorough the video you will see all the parameters. ruclips.net/video/FD9WHAJd4Lo/видео.html You can also use REPAIR mode after AGM+ but it will not change too much.
    So, procedure should look like following (the most effective) Normal/AGM Mode charging until completed -> AGM+ until completed -> REPAIR until completed and results are like: ruclips.net/video/FD9WHAJd4Lo/видео.html
