  • Check out the NOCO Genius Battery charger. Well this is looking to be a great little battery charger. Not only does it charge but it desulfates and brings back a low voltage battery. This is a must have.
    After having this charger for while now I have no idea how I managed without it. It is easy to use, and hard to mess up!

    I'm I correct that this is a trickle charger I can leave connect to my battery for extended periods. I was using the brand Battery Tender, but it seems to over charge.

      +Paul Greene This is a all around charger. It will regulate it's charge to the battery's need. When your battery is charged it will go into trickle charge mode.

    I think I was connecting mine in the wrong order. So you plug the power supply into the wall socket first, THEN connect the leads to the battery and clip in the harness correct?

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  8 лет назад

      +pacifikballa Yes that is the way to do it. although it shouldn't matter the order. The unit will not send power out to the clamps until it receive power from your battery. It will then analyze the power coming in and set up the right charge. easy peezy. ( This is why you can get a warning light if your battery is DEAD. The unit can't get power from the battery to analyze) -John

    nice charger. what’s the input voltage on this model?

    Why do you have to desulfates the battery once you have charged to 100%? Can you use the NOCO through the cigarette lighter plug to charge the battery?

      Or you could make things easy on me since it is already filmed and uploaded. Just turn your monitor upside down and all is good.. LOL

    You didn't show the car starting. I was going to buy one till I saw some of the reviews on Amazon. Many found the unit unable to start a car with a dead battery.

      Hi thanks for your comment. This is a battery charger and not the battery booster.

      cruyeda The boost model is the GB30....I just bought one but have not used it yet. It is about 30-40% smaller then the G7200. The G30 does come with full size alligator clamps, and can charge devices with usb or mini usb ports. It also has a 6 or 7 mode flashlight.

      Again the item in this video is a charger and NOT a "Booster" You are referring to a battery booster. Even though I don't own one I would buy a Norco Battery booster. Most likely worth the money!

    I think I may have a bad tester. On my G7200, the lights don't flicker like yours, it stays solid. Also, I am unable to select the different modes. It only goes from Supply to Standby. After my AGM battery reached 12.4 volts, all the lights were flickering. I then tried to go to Boost, but no dice. I disconnected the battery and the multimeter read 11.3 volts. Any idea what is wrong with the charger?

      Hi there 62T-bird Man;
      These chargers are awesome. I probably didn't explain myself well in the video. The flickering is caused by the camera exposure. Not many people know that LEDs flash, even though they look steady. That in combination with the camera shutter speed makes the LEDs look like they are flashing.
      Ok so what you need to do is:
      1. plug in the charger to the wall socket.
      2. attach the alligator clamps to the proper battery posts.
      3. Give the charger a second or so to decide what it wants to after it has analyzed the battery.
      4. The charger should at this point start charging. If you have a normal battery the charger should be on "NORM".
      If you have a "Absorbed Glass Mat" battery the charger should decide to go "COLD/AGM".
      Ok now for the "SUPPLY" and "BOOST"
      Supply: This is an option you can choose to power 12 volt items from your 120v home power. (6 amps MAX!)
      1. Plug charger into wall
      2. Press and hold the "MODE" button (between 2 and 3 seconds) The light over the "Supply" will light and you have 12 volts at the clamps.
      Boost: This is to help desulfate your battery. I don't believe this will works on AGM batteries so please read the instructions.
      1. Plug in charger.
      2. Attach the clamps to the battery.
      3. wait for charger to decide what mode it will choose.
      4. Press and hold the "MODE" button (2 to 3 seconds) until the LED over the BOOST lights ups.
      5. The charger will now desulfate. When the charger has a steady "GREEN" light under the 100% the desulfation is complete. Hopes this helps.

      Big Guy Review Thanks Big Guy...that seemed to work. I got it to boost and ran it for about 8 hours. Then I went back to 12v Cold/AGM and did the regular charge and it finally completed after 2 days...or at least I think it did. I got all the 4 lights flashing up top (25%, 50%, 75% and 100%). So do I just leave it running now in the 12 V Cold/AGM mode? Will it over charge? This is a yellow top Optima and it was initially down to 5 volts. The 12 volt Supply got it to where I first notified you of my problem. I guess I was trying to step through the modes with the battery disconnected. Anyway, thank you very much.

      You can leave this charger attached to the battery for as long as you like. It will go to "Trickle" mode automatically. To check to see if your battery is any good. What you can do is charge it completely. Take the charger off for 24 hrs. Then reattach the charger and watch how long it takes to get to 100%. If it takes to long you might need a new battery. It might mean that you battery is no longer holding a charge.

      Big Guy Review Well Big Guy, you were right again. I charged it to full and waited 24 hours with nothing connected to the battery and low and behold, the battery dropped to 9.5 volts. I'll be returning it for a replacement. Thanks for all your help.

    • @BigGuyReview
      @BigGuyReview  9 лет назад

      Damn Really! Well that sucks. If you have the time to check it like that it is the cheapest way to see if the battery is holding a charge or not. You can also buy testers that will check a battery to see if it will hold a charge with out waiting. Hey thanks for the comment and keeping in touch!

    I can't stand it. He mumbles and waves the camera constantly. Makes me sea sick. Also note there is a newer model of this charger with lithium mode and more features. The review by High Tech Battery of this product is perfect.

    read your manual before making videos. when using as a power supply DO NOT connect to a battery. batteries are dangerous. always wear safety goggles. thousands of people every year loose their sight due to improperly handling batteries.
