Saying that "150 pokemon is enough" lacks sense if you think about it. In fact, 700 probably isn't enough. In this fictional world, pokemon sort of fill the roles of animals. On our planet right now, we have millions of species of animals. Having about 100 pokemon per region actually seems like too little, if you ask me. A wide range of pokemon with different influences, purposes, etc. actually makes the pokemon world seem more believable. It gives more options, leaves more room for creativity, etc. It is only natural that their world would be made up of many, many regions (as our own is) and with that means more pokemon that are suited to that region. I tend to think this "gen wun was so good wtf is this new dum pokeman" comes from a place of hierarchy-- old players need to distance themselves from the new players because they have played longer or whatever... Even I started playing pokemon with red and blue, but I don't feel it necessary to glorify the good ol' days. Some very interesting and awesome pokemon have come out of the more recent generations, and as many have pointed out, the original 150 were not all unique and great.
Tea Cloud I know what you're saying, after all Pokemon are basically all living things other than humans, and maybe some trees and plants, maybe. Hell, even considering that a lot of them are just manifestations of souls into objects, I'm sure that there would have to be tons more, that is, as long as there aren't species that have a miniscule change, but are counted as a new one, like real life! :D

On a final note, Cofagrigus, Chandelure, and Rotom all have the same justification: they're GHOST type Pokemon, and what are ghosts commonly known for in works of fiction? Possessing objects. In fact, Rotom's forms are even more justified when you take into account that A. it's other type is Electric, B. "Rotom" is "Motor" spelled backwards, and C. all the forms it can take are electric appliances that have motors. As a bonus, it is a literal example of the phrase "ghost in the machine".

Okay. Just gonna throw this out there. Far too many people think of pokemon as ANIMALS.. here's a surprise fact for them. They are NOT animals.. they are MONSTERS. Hence the name "Pocket Monsters" A Monster can have the shape/form of anything. While I think an Ice Cream Monster is stupid.. it's still a Monster and not an animal like a cat or dog. Also: Saying "inappropriate" to something in a Japanese game is just.. stupid. These games were made in Japan where most of the young audience isn't made of ignorant sheltered kids. I mean.. Look at all of the anime that is aired over there during hours for young children to watch. You can't make an argument that something inappropriate when it doesn't share the same views in this country as it does there. If this were a game made in the US and aimed for a young audience, .. it would be ENTIRELY different if it even managed to be made at all.

I think that one of the original designers of pokemon said that every generation they try to have a mix of pokemon based off of animals and inanimate objects. I don't know why so many people hate inanimate object pokemon. Like an oddly colored animal is fine, but anthropomorphized inmate objects are somehow bad?
Any inanimate object pokemon is hated except for gen 1 pokes for some reason and I hate how people just look at gen 5-6 inanimate object pokemon and just hate them for existing because gamefreak are running out of ideas for new pokemon. Funny story about this. Klinklang, Vanilluxe, and Garbodor are Pokemon that, from a game lore perspective, LITERALLY SHOULDN'T EXIST. In-universe, they're considered to be abominations. Nobody knows where they came from, how they came alive, how they stay alive, etc. It creeps people the heck out. And yet they continue to survive anyway. They don't care that they shouldn't exist. They keep existing anyway. And that just goes to show the weirdness of the Pokemon world. So in a way, these guys actually kinda make me like the Pokemon world more. I won't say anything negative, as there is already plenty of that in the comments. However, I will state my own opinions. Rotom is a poltergeist, and I really like the concept of a ghost that, you know, actually possesses stuff. Klinklang and its previous evolutions were explained (sorta) in their generation as being the result of new pokemon being created because of the environment created by humans. It also explains why voltorb and magnemite are things. Garbodor was only finishing the pollution trio made in gen 1, along with weezing (air) and muk (water). It's land waste. Trio complete. And klefki...well, a video had to be made for me to appreciate it. It's called "Klefki will F*** you up." I recommend it.

ThePokeduds Actually they can be. The designs of gen 1 were on super limited hardware, thus the designers weren't able to put in super detailed creative designs. The newer gens are now on way better hardware and can make up crazy stuff like Giratina, Arceus, Zekrom, etc. but they still have some really stupid designs when they don't even need to anymore. So yes, technically, with cold hard facts I can say that the newer designs are worse despite technically having the same quality as some gen 1 designs.

Eh, the only one I disagree with is Cofagrigas, since I think the design is BADASS. I would have replaced him with that ugly looking beaver with the bulgy eyes. Maybe Cofagrigas could be the "cocoon" for a super cool Mummy rock ghost pokemon. We could call him Atombyss, as a combination of Tomb, Abyss, and Anubis.

We had a liquid waste line (Grimer/Muk) and 2 freaking seperate lines for air pollution (Koffing/Weezing and Ghasly/Haunter/Gengar). What about all of the fighting pokemon that are literally the disciplines except Lucario, which is anime out the wazoo? What about all of the other magnet pokemon, what about the Geodude line?

let's go through each one, 1: Solosis is also based off cells and miosis, and is one of the more creative designs. Sure does represent cells more than mew. 2. Cofagrigus is a sick coffin that is possesed by a ghost. It's a simple design, nothing very wrong with that. I mean, at least it's not just a pokeball. Also, with your "object with arms" statement, geodude is a good sign of that. 3. There's nothing wrong with a cute final evolution. People who want cute pokemon can actually have a viable member. 4. Meh, I agree, spoink shouldn't have to live with that. On a serious note, its battle prowess is probably bad considering it evolves into the oh-so forgotten grumpig. 5. I agree way more with whoever was talking first, chandelure is a cool ghost chandelure, that fuels itself with souls. 6. Yeah, you right, they're just beefy men in clouds. 7. Wormadam is not a cocoon, its a bagworm, witch uses its surroundings to cover itself with a "bag". Maybe actually research before you make a review. 8. Klinklang... yeah he's boring. Next! 9. I mean, if he's supposed to be the starting rodent, he has a reason to exist... 10. Likliicky is round because he eats things with his tongue, he has a bib, is that not obvious? 11. Amoongus is meant to take electrode's design and make it better. Gen 5 was supposed to be a reboot, so lots of pokemon play the same role, but are much better, like Gigalith and Graveler, or Bouffalant and Tauros. 15. Eh, you're right, it's pretty lazy. 16. I mean, if it's an electric ghost, the fact it possesses inanimate objects makes sense... i honestly don't understand the hate for inanimate objects. 17. Munna is a better version of hypno, as it is based off the bake-jira, a dream-hating tapir. You're really hating on something for it's coloring? That's just you being too desperate to not put gen 1 pokemon on the list. 18. Clefkey is a keyring that is also a musical note. It literally has clef in the name. 19. Garbodor is not unimaginitive, it puts things in its design to look like garbage, and it has a better design that the living slime Muk, also known a the RPG copy-and-paste monster. Stats should never make a pokemon bad. 20. Vanilluxe incorporates multiple motifs in its design, like the chocolate straw. Also, all pokemon before gen 6 had randomly generated shinies, except favorites like charizard (as if he wasn't popular enough), so if you want to blame bad shinies, look at the new ones. im honest here , the laziest design for pokemon was tornadus, thundurus and landorus.. .. when i first saw it in anime , i lolled .. somewhat derivations of Zap/Arti/moltres and Raikou, entei, suicune... and they just photocopied 3 genies with different colors seriously??? vanilliluxe and muk were better at least..
Tornadus, Landorus, and Thundrus were all based off of gods from a culture which's-name-slips-my-mind-right-now. Perhaps it was Japan, but for now, I have no clue.

Actually, the Geodude line has some justification. Some reptiles make their homes in rocks, spending their lives in there before they become too big for it. The final evolution in the line shows that well. Though they could've done it better with Geodude and Gravelier. Golem is a cool concept when you take what I said in mind.

I did really like Geodude when I was a kid because he was adorable. I still think he's cute, but I'm not a fan of many rock types now. Mostly because they were so trolly in Generation 2, where they always broke out of my expensive Great and Ultra Balls, forcing me to find the correct acorn to get a Heavy Ball made. lol
Saying that "150 pokemon is enough" lacks sense if you think about it. In fact, 700 probably isn't enough. In this fictional world, pokemon sort of fill the roles of animals. On our planet right now, we have millions of species of animals. Having about 100 pokemon per region actually seems like too little, if you ask me. A wide range of pokemon with different influences, purposes, etc. actually makes the pokemon world seem more believable. It gives more options, leaves more room for creativity, etc. It is only natural that their world would be made up of many, many regions (as our own is) and with that means more pokemon that are suited to that region.
I tend to think this "gen wun was so good wtf is this new dum pokeman" comes from a place of hierarchy-- old players need to distance themselves from the new players because they have played longer or whatever... Even I started playing pokemon with red and blue, but I don't feel it necessary to glorify the good ol' days. Some very interesting and awesome pokemon have come out of the more recent generations, and as many have pointed out, the original 150 were not all unique and great.

- You say Nintendo should have just stuck with the original 151, but then what would be the point of any further Pokemon games?

While i support top ten lists and putting opinions out, you did 3 things wrong with this episode that makes it less... palatable as an opinion piece.
1. You opened the list by basically giving every single viewer the understanding (correct or not) that you are a genwunner (someone who believes the first generation are infallible and the designs went downhill since). A perfectly fine opinion, but you make yourself a target for ad hominem from the rest of the world.
2. "It sucks" or "fucking retarded" is not a valuable opinion. Throwing weed references doesn't make it valuable. Make an argument for "why they shouldn't exist" that's better than "I don't like it." You do well sometimes, but most of these are just bitching about disliked designs.

On a final note, Cofagrigus, Chandelure, and Rotom all have the same justification: they're GHOST type Pokemon, and what are ghosts commonly known for in works of fiction? Possessing objects. In fact, Rotom's forms are even more justified when you take into account that A. it's other type is Electric, B. "Rotom" is "Motor" spelled backwards, and C. all the forms it can take are electric appliances that have motors. As a bonus, it is a literal example of the phrase "ghost in the machine".

Far too many people think of pokemon as ANIMALS.. here's a surprise fact for them. They are NOT animals.. they are MONSTERS. Hence the name "Pocket Monsters" A Monster can have the shape/form of anything. While I think an Ice Cream Monster is stupid.. it's still a Monster and not an animal like a cat or dog.

Saying "inappropriate" to something in a Japanese game is just.. stupid. These games were made in Japan where most of the young audience isn't made of ignorant sheltered kids. I mean.. Look at all of the anime that is aired over there during hours for young children to watch. You can't make an argument that something inappropriate when it doesn't share the same views in this country as it does there. I think that one of the original designers of pokemon said that every generation they try to have a mix of pokemon based off of animals and inanimate objects. I don't know why so many people hate inanimate object pokemon. Like an oddly colored animal is fine, but anthropomorphized inmate objects are somehow bad?
Any inanimate object pokemon is hated except for gen 1 pokes for some reason and I hate how people just look at gen 5-6 inanimate object pokemon and just hate them for existing because gamefreak are running out of ideas for new pokemon. The sad true is that GameFreak always had some bad pokemon in every gen with some long time fans not knowing untill now.

And yes, I do count Magnemite as an inanimate object because it is literally a ball with magnets. Golurk is at least a Golem like construct. Funny story about this. Klinklang, Vanilluxe, and Garbodor are Pokemon that, from a game lore perspective, LITERALLY SHOULDN'T EXIST. In-universe, they're considered to be abominations. Nobody knows where they came from, how they came alive, how they stay alive, etc. It creeps people the heck out.
And yet they continue to survive anyway. They don't care that they shouldn't exist. They keep existing anyway.
And that just goes to show the weirdness of the Pokemon world.
So in a way, these guys actually kinda make me like the Pokemon world more. That's right, I like them for the very reasons you hate them.

I won't say anything negative, as there is already plenty of that in the comments. However, I will state my own opinions.
Rotom is a poltergeist, and I really like the concept of a ghost that, you know, actually possesses stuff.
Klinklang and its previous evolutions were explained (sorta) in their generation as being the result of new pokemon being created because of the environment created by humans. It also explains why voltorb and magnemite are things.
Garbodor was only finishing the pollution trio made in gen 1, along with weezing (air) and muk (water). It's land waste. Trio complete.
And klefki...well, a video had to be made for me to appreciate it. It's called "Klefki will F*** you up." I recommend it.

The designs of gen 1 were on super limited hardware, thus the designers weren't able to put in super detailed creative designs. The newer gens are now on way better hardware and can make up crazy stuff like Giratina, Arceus, Zekrom, etc. but they still have some really stupid designs when they don't even need to anymore.
So yes, technically, with cold hard facts I can say that the newer designs are worse despite technically having the same quality as some gen 1 designs.

1: Solosis is also based off cells and miosis, and is one of the more creative designs. Sure does represent cells more than mew.
2. Cofagrigus is a sick coffin that is possesed by a ghost. It's a simple design, nothing very wrong with that. I mean, at least it's not just a pokeball. Also, with your "object with arms" statement, geodude is a good sign of that.
3. There's nothing wrong with a cute final evolution. People who want cute pokemon can actually have a viable member.
4. Meh, I agree, spoink shouldn't have to live with that. On a serious note, its battle prowess is probably bad considering it evolves into the oh-so forgotten grumpig.
5. I agree way more with whoever was talking first, chandelure is a cool ghost chandelure, that fuels itself with souls.
6. Yeah, you right, they're just beefy men in clouds.
7. Wormadam is not a cocoon, its a bagworm, witch uses its surroundings to cover itself with a "bag". Maybe actually research before you make a review.

13. Tangrowth follows the statement you made earlier, it's a more defined design. Its stats I care not for, and venusaur is literally just a big bulbasaur. Also, how do you think omanyte is a snail?
14. Amoongus is meant to take electrode's design and make it better. Gen 5 was supposed to be a reboot, so lots of pokemon play the same role, but are much better, like Gigalith and Graveler, or Bouffalant and Tauros.

20. Vanilluxe incorporates multiple motifs in its design, like the chocolate straw. Also, all pokemon before gen 6 had randomly generated shinies, except favorites like charizard (as if he wasn't popular enough), so if you want to blame bad shinies, look at the new ones.
So in summary, I agree with some opinions, you clearly have a bias for Gen 1 and one against Gen 5. Most of your choices were stupid, and maybe do some research before you make a bad pokemon list.

I think it's right to stop the hate. You can disable ratings but they mean poop. Great video. Love watching this. It does have its fair share of flaws (because it's quite old) but you have significantly improved in recent years. im honest here , the laziest design for pokemon was tornadus, thundurus and landorus.. .. when i first saw it in anime , i lolled .. somewhat derivations of Zap/Arti/moltres and Raikou, entei, suicune... and they just photocopied 3 genies with different colors seriously??? vanilliluxe and muk were better at least..

Actually, the Geodude line has some justification. Some reptiles make their homes in rocks, spending their lives in there before they become too big for it. The final evolution in the line shows that well. Though they could've done it better with Geodude and Gravelier. Golem is a cool concept when you take what I said in mind.

I did really like Geodude when I was a kid because he was adorable. I still think he's cute, but I'm not a fan of many rock types now. Mostly because they were so trolly in Generation 2, where they always broke out of my expensive Great and Ultra Balls, forcing me to find the correct acorn to get a Heavy Ball made. lol
