Disagree. I say this because they have nothing in common at all. There’s no legitimate foil between them and them having a rivalry doesn’t make sense. If there’s two people who deserve a rivalry, it’s Finn and Kylo Ren. Reason I say this is because of where they both come from in terms of their origin and how there were multiple parallels between them in TFA. From Finn being a stormtrooper awakened by his friend dying in front of him after his bloody hand slid down his face to him choosing not to kill a mother and child, and to him choosing not to kill those civilians after Kylo Ren’s order. He chose to rebel and be better. Which enabled him to leave the first order and start helping others outside of it. Kylo Ren on the other hand is the opposite. He kills people for his own goals and is trying to get more power so he can become as strong as Vader. He doesn’t care who he uses to achieve his goals at all. When his father came back for him, pleaded for him to take his hand to go home. He rejected him, he chose to stay in the darkness because that was HIS choice. With Finn he rose out of the darkness and into the light after Slips died, but Kylo willingly lets himself drown in the darkness after killing the light in his life, which was Han. It all comes to head in their fight with each other. People say that Rey and Kylo’s rivalry is good, I say that’s true but only in TFA, but really the BEST rivalry we could’ve gotten in the Sequel Trilogy was the one between Finn and Kylo Ren. One is a man born in the light but chose to go into darkness and willingly stays there, proving that even a father’s love wasn’t enough to save him. Another is a man who was literally brought up in the darkness himself and expected to become an amazing stormtrooper, maybe even an officer one day. But after seeing his friend die in front of him, not having the resolve or the will to take an innocent mother and child’s lives as well as refusing to kill innocents for the First Order gave him the choice to do the right thing. Finn is a traitor to everything Kylo Ren stands for, he’s also been ruining his plans and been a thorn in his side the whole movie, so there’s a lot of anger towards Finn for that. For Finn, Kylo Ren is everything he fears but also everything he hates. He tortured Poe and Rey, had the Hosian system destroyed and killed Han who he was forming a good relationship with. Top that off with Kylo trying to kill him and Rey multiple times and that is enough for him to be brave to face him and protect Rey after being knocked out by him. Finn and Kylo Ren are the true both sides of the same coin because their origins, where they both started in TFA and the choices they made in TFA regarding their decision to leave The First Order. The fact that their foil and rivalry is sidelined in TLJ is an absolute shame. Kylo and Rey became boring AFTER Finn got sidelined and both of them suffered as a result.

In the Force Awakens, Finn is a coward pretending to be part of the Resistance, in the end, all to inspire a girl she can be great even if he isn’t. All these characters got there arc in later tv shows and movies. Probably the same thing will happen to Phasma.
@@filmtrailer9212 still, the examples you listed progressed the plot. Maul killed qui gon, boba fett took han solo to jabba and grievous kidnapped the chancellor. Phasma herself didnt do anything that would change the course of events in the story.
@@themalcahtwinz4743 You're probably right with this. The only thing that comes in my mind is that she deactivated the shields of the Starkiller Base. But this makes the other characters not better as they're still wasted. I hate it that Darth Maul has just 6 minutes screen time and Jar Jar 17 minutes.
Imagine if she pulled that blaster on him and he dodged every shot. Great foreshadowing to him being Force Sensitive.
Dude when that lightsaber broke I lost it
Seriously, we can't trust Rey to protect anything
@@ABeastG Finn should have become the Jedi not Rey
BB-8 on a walker was the BEST THING THAT I HAVE EVER WATCHED IN THIS MOVIE!
The part where Rose shoots her and it just bounces off is so cool
Say what you will about TLJ, but I absolutely adore this scene. The crumbling ship around them as they’re fighting looks incredible.
Nope. Still sucked more than Batman V Superman.
@@multiverse_media2023 I disagree, TLJ did a better job at deconstructing than BvS did.
@@virgogaming6488
LOL
@@virgogaming6488 agreed, actually i never liked the DCEU at all. It felt dull and the characters had no connection like in the MCU
@@multiverse_media2023 you essentially just said “nuhuh” than refused to elaborate lmfao
Fun fact : Phasma survived and escaped starkiller base via tie fighter, she isn’t dead
She isn't on Starkiller Base in this scene
What? Starkiller Base was already destroyed
I agree she Survived the Starkiller Base once so she can defently Survive that explotion in snokes ship
Unfortunately her death is confirmed and she did die from that fire pit fall
I find that really dumb
Finn may have betrayed the First Order, but he’s a better shot than you could ever hope to be, Phasma!
Um if I was a stormtrooper and the ship exploded and I survived. I'm not gonna fuckin walk in a formation all calm and try to fight Finn. I'm gonna be freaking out and yelling "Captain, let it fucking go! We gotta get the fuck out of here!"
They are based off the nazis and thus disobeying orders results in death , and they are raised to be loyal to there goal not themselves kinda like the SS to Hitler
I thought Phasma was pretty good here.
She was literally trashed in the previous movie but literally shines here showing off the effectiveness of her armor, rifle, pistol and staff.
I don’t care what anyone says. She’s cool and kicks ass.
3:30 Why does this scene give off vibes of the Rebel's scene when Darth Vader fought Ashoka. She busted his face mask and he looked at her in the same way.
I like how they still have oxygen even when the ship was breaking down.
3:19
Phasma = Me being excited that I only have half an hour of school left before winter break
Finn = My teacher assigning the class 8 assignments to do over break
(This didn't actually happen to me, I was just making a joke. But thank God it didn't)
Probably one of the best yet shortest fight scene in the sequel trilogy and one of the most iconic fight scene of the sequel trilogy the chromdome joke kinda ruined it but still a great fight scene overall very short though
Why don’t people like the joke, I love it!
@@dr.cheetahshow7277 I agree. All Star Wars films had at least one weird line in them. This is harmless.
@@zackcross7190 yes. But I think they’re all rough… the Chrome Dome remark kinda ruins the tension a bit much like the other lines from other fights do the same
Finn seriously deserved to be the main character. The reason why he's so interesting is his force sensitivity and him being a former stormtrooper. When he fights Phasma, he doesn't have fancy moves like the Prequels. Instead, he fights like a stormtrooper.
3:45 Stannis Baratheon sends his regards.
This movie wasn’t great, but can we all agree that this scene was badass?
Now this scene was actually good
"Lets Go Chrome Dome" -Finn
2:19 never underestimate BB8
I'm only a fan of Rogue One but that highspace into the ship was great
3:21 if that were the prequels their head would have come clean off
To those complaining why phasma should have won Finn won because he has the high ground
This scene was probably one of the best ones of the movie, in my opinion there’s only like 2-3 at most, and I honestly forgot about this moment because the rest of the film’s horrible scenes and plot overshadowed what could have been a cool rivalry in the next film
“Lets go Chrome Dome” coldest line of the century
Phasmas blaster looks so cool
Many claim that Phasma’s role in the films was wasted, that she could have been used more.
I’d argue that a swift and ignominious death was just the comeuppance she deserved. A coward who betrayed and murdered anyone who knew her weaknesses, pitiful to the end.
Finn: It's over Phasma! I have the high ground
Phasma: You underestimate my armor scum!
3:20 its over phasma i have the high ground
You underestimate my blaster
Bruh she's so cool, if they ever do more with the sequel trilogy, she should definitely survive.
I think they're done with the sequel trilogy tbh
“Let’s go chrome dome” is such a iconic line from the sequels
3:20 - Great shot kid, that was one in a million. 😎
Fun Fact: Phasma's Armor was made from the melted down Chromium of Palpatine's Yacht. its Canon.
Finn... The best character ruined. He is the true Jedi of this series.
You know what just noticed when he first fought the storm trooper with a light saber he had a hard time using it but when he fought captain phasma he was better with that Electric staff cuz he knew how to use it
Say what you want about the sequels, but no one can deny that they had some of the coolest duels.
Well some where good and some where just bad so your kind of right
@The Wild Weems Doesn't this happen in every trilogy
@@ScootyPuffJrSux yeah
@@ScootyPuffJrSux Nah, In this case most of them were not duels but came closer to 2 kids having a beef, and then fighting for 2 seconds saying sorry and still having a beef, all that in space and stupid gigaton ammount of plot armour included.
Where does phasma’s blaster go? Why does BB8 stop firing with the ATAT? Why doesn’t the stormtrooper who tries to shoot Rose with the turret gun shoot Finn? Why doesn’t phasma just shoot Finn with the pistol she uses to shoot at rose?
Ahhh, what a film!
In the Force Awakens,
Finn is a coward pretending to be part of the Resistance, in the end, all to inspire a girl she can be great even if he isn’t.
Here, Finn goes through the exact same journey, with the exact same beats.
He’s on the run, lying about his intentions, gets caught up with a girl, confronts his past demons, and fights them off.
The difference, is now Finn has to become inspired himself to actually be that hero the girl sees him to be, so he can be great, and make her believe she’s great to.
3:20 Batter Up!!!!
Home run!
the best non lightsaber duel ever
She was fearless warrior, great leader always fighting alongside her troops, she had years of combat experience, she died like noob.....
Wish Finn and Phasma had a more intense arc through the trilogy.
Like have the other former stormtroopers appear in this film, show up in the final act, have Phasma be a former Mandalorian (her stormtrooper armour molded from her beskar one) have her escape after this fight, show up in IX with the darksaber the pair fightagain with Finn winning the blade and forming a new Mandalorian clan.
Some people think its made of beskar but some people (and I) thinks it was made via padme chrome ship. We all know how obsessed kylo ren was with vader and his interests
@Reaver with how much kylo looked up to his grandfather and his interests I'm pretty sure she does.
Episode X: "Somehow, Phasma returned..."
Episode XI: somehow general Grievous has returned
As stupid as it is I kinda secretly love the fact that BB-8 now has a kill count that surpasses a lot of other characters in this series
3:42 Finn possibly used the force to destroy the half crumble floor.
What was even the point of her inclusion to this trilogy!?
What was the point of Boba Fetts in the original? atleast she died to a humans hand.
@@ironmatto3I don't even like Boba Fett.
@@ironmatto3 I really do not understand this constant meme like Boba Fett bashing ? He did track the Falcon, opposed Vader, directed Luke to his fight with Vader, took Han to Jabba, outsmarted Luke with his gadgets and unlike Phasma at 90 percent survived.

It's a great feeling isn't it! When you actually like the sequel trilogy! For us, we can just sit back, praise these films, and be thankful to the makers for giving us the gift that is anything star wars!
Ngl, when Phasma fires her blaster and you can see the barrel getting red hot through the cooling holes was dope af
She deserved more screentime
Phasma and Hux were done so dirty. They had the potential to be such powerful villains and they just were cast aside. Phasma deserved so much better than her mediocre death.
They could always bring her back, surviving 3rd degree burns.
Hux actually “scared” me a little in the first movie with his Nazi speech. I thought “this guy is gonna be an amazing villain” and then he… I don’t even know what happened to him, I watched that movie and I can’t even remember if he dies.
@@DanielTorres-en4vi right? I think what was so good about him is that it proved that the sith aren’t the only ones capable of being evil.
